wandering

Have you ever found yourself in conversation with a squirrel. How they will look right back at you in pure defiance. There are a couple of the little red ones that are just a little bigger than a minute.. they are loud, noisy, have a lot to say … and are determined that if you want them to go away, they are going to show you, they are going to stay. I recognize that behaviour…. Have been known to display “some” of that annoying stubbornness myself.

Compromise makes things more complicated. if you go against your intuition and compromise because circumstances or conditions, things tend to get more complicated than they need to be. Always focus on the priorities and act accordingly.

Express straight away once you’ve found it…” great!”.. Proactively express about others’ goodness. It feels great to be told so, even about things you already know.

Turkey Vulture

Dirk Haukenfrers -2020

It is not fun to be stuck in One Place. Instead of being captured by what’s in front of you, strive to broaden your horizons.

Prefect Liberty 2022.28

Yesterday coming out of the Mer Bleue along the road that brings me out to the highway from the conservation area… the wild turkeys were doing their usual foraging enjoying the early morning quiet when a car came barreling down the road. This is a no exit road, it ends at the bog. The turkeys were making their way across the road, had to be over a dozen of them… I was slowed to a stop on my side of the road, when I saw the car. I waved to caution the driver.. but she didn’t stop, she did slow somewhat, but not really, the turkeys fortunately cleared a path for her. I guess they have had experience with uncaring humans.

I had to ask myself, what or why would someone be coming into a conservation area where people come to enjoy the quiet and solitude, to share with the animals in the beauty and bounty of nature – and have such a disregard for the critters that call this home. Of course, I had just left the parking area a few minutes past, and knew that there was a group gathering there of “seniors” who were going to be touring the bog. Several cars had already arrived for the 9 o’clock meeting time, and stragglers had been arriving the last 10, 15 minutes before I left. My guess is the rude driver was late .. and was bent on getting to the parking lot before the others took off. Not impressed.

No, the turkeys were wild turkeys and not the turkey vulture you see above.. Dirk took that picture a few years back and had graciously given me permission to use it. Isn’t he /she a beauty. When I went looking for a picture of the actual wild turkey, I spied this one and had to share.. I don’t understand myself how I’ve come to be so fascinated by the turkey type birds… but… there you have it… they aren’t even cuddly. Life is what it is… we don’t pick who or what we fall in love with.

There is that word.. L O V E …. let’s spread it around today… sprinkle it in all our actions..

When love becomes a habit and part of our every thought and action… life becomes a JOY that enriches all our moments.

Hello Fall

Yesterday as I drove down the road to the entrance to Mer Bleue I slowed to look over the valley beyond the trees that border the road and saw … fall colours… the whole line of trees along the far side of the valley were crimson and golds… Yikes… it is still September … I didn’t have the Nikon with me and the cell would have limited range for me to capture that colour. BUT it was there.!!! Good thing fall is my favourite season.. I L O V E IT….

Be cheerful and friendly with those around you. Other people can sense how you are feeling … So, be cheerful.

Tuesday – 12th.

Good morning everyone, these were the colourful blooms outside the window of the social room at the church yesterday. The lovely pink flowers on the left were the subject of much conversation. No one remembers planting them, or seeing them before. In fact, everyone present remembered t hem as being an orange before? So dear readers… do these flowers have a habit of changing colours as they make their way through the growing cycle? I know that many of you are plants wonders….thoughts?

When you face difficulties, start with anything you can do. When you are able to grasp the situation, you will surely be able to notice something that you can do.

PL Precept # 1 Life is Art

determination

In life nothing is ever “simple”… the lake may look calm, but under the surface there is a multitude of activity in all shapes and sizes. Decide what it is important, and let it happen. Find a way. Stay positive.

Does the past ever walk up to you and say…”hi” “remember me” – when you clean up/ clear out, boxes are found, files, old correspondence, pictures. There are a couple of you that have traced your families back, I am fascinated when I read the detail and the wonderful stories you uncover. In my world, I live in the moment (most of the time)..so when my extraordinary friend (she loves organizing, sorting and the like) (like.. there is such a person in my life…!!!) came down and said,” you should look at these”(she had opened an old briefcase** she came across when trying to put some order to what remains of my husband’s offices …

Like the plant, I just keep on trucking… I like space to move ahead, explore, to live each moment as it comes. Sometimes these is a lot of “happening” all at once, and then there are dry spells… always there is change.

I have around me, beautiful gardens and landscapes, I appreciate them, I do… but I am the plant that grows in the cracks along the roadside, or in unwanted/unused spaces. “When there is a will, there is a way”.. the picture brought back memories.. long road trips to hotels/nightclubs in distant places. We played 6 nights of the week, traveling on the 7th day to the next gig, unless we were booked for 2 weeks. We were a “show band”.. lead guitar, bass, and drums.. side men were added depending on the lounge or club we were playing and what the venues wanted. At one place, we even arrived to find that there was a stripper booked at the same time.. her back up didn’t show. we got to play for her… now that was a hoot!

Today is the 21st. there is a service this evening at the church 7 pm. Service of Appreciation. – When we live each day doing our best, and being “present”… there are few regrets.. just memories that help make the person you are today.

Thank you thank you, thank you. Let’s live with gratitude towards everyone and everything all day today.

mindfulness

quiet reflection

You can be with God by having a prayerful mind. Let’s pray for World Peace. We are all one big family. Let’s start by praying for the happiness of those around us.

Perfect Liberty 2022.11

Find compassion with others by thinking of things you have in common: ” Just like me, this person wishes to be well and happy” Then take a moment to send them some kind wishes.

a quide to mindfulness 3..22.

the night is dark, my thoughts simple

In the quiet as I sit in the evening shadow

I know the light in the room is You

I need only close my eyes to feel your presence

with gratitude and appreciation I allow the night to draw me in

There is a calm that wrapes like a balm around my restless heart

When I allow my mind to clear of all that is shallow/unnecessary

and simply listen

Mindfulness – is this a start to your journey of mindfulness, or have you been at it for years -it is time to access calm, to feel more grounded. Mindfulness is the practice of repeatedly returning your focus to the present moment without judgement or criticisms.

Originally stemming from Buddhist roots, the practice has evolved – there is a “Way” for each and everyone … small steps.. begin by being aware.

PL Precept #7

Everything exists in relativity.

May you always walk in sunshine. May you never want for more.

Irish blessing

Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom

Marcel Proust

My evening meditation that came in from Japan last night, was something I very much needed to read, and contemplate on. I will share it with you.

It is about Listening. To be honest with others is not to do as they say, but to try to understand their feelings with a blank mind. Don’t listen to the other person’s story on the surface, but listen to the other person’s heart.

Wordless Sunday

till soon

PS, Sunday service being canceled simply means, we do our prayers and offer appreciation on our own. A Hokyoshi is only a call or text away if you need us.

Power of Prayer

Good Morning everyone.. I have a thought I’d like to share with you, I am open to your input. For years now I have been doing special prayers. Seldom does a day go by where I don’t meet up with someone, and/or get asked to pray for someone who is going through, or having a difficult time with .. whatever… Certainly in these times of multiple tragedies, whether due to climate change, or day to day circumstances, there is a need for prayer.

In PL, we, as members are encouraged to pray everyday, and yes there are days, set aside for special ceremonies and prayers that are led officially by a minister or Hokyoshi. Through this site, I often will get a personal request for spiritual help, for someone who just needs a “helping hand” I have taken to doing silent prayers for individuals at a time I set aside, just for the purpose of doing what I call a power prayer.. Would anyone out there be willing to add their voice to this power prayer? It is simply a matter or putting aside a few minutes a day, to pray for those who have asked for help, who need a special prayer in their lives. It is the act of dedication, the sincerity of the request that is important.

Do you think it would interest you? It would take only a few minutes of your time… but it would be a time that would be of great service to others. Thank you for considering this request for input. There is a by-product, you get to spend a minute on yourself too =^_^=

Improve yourself to have a kinder heart. Do what you can to be caring and considerate to make others happy.
