Who knew! yesterday I heard a Cackling Goose, hmmm looked to me like the Canada Goose, but no… I eventually had time to look it up, Sorry I had to take a screen shot during a video to get this shot to share with you. It was migrating !!! and I got to hear it. Now I’m wondering if that is the bird I’m seeing with the Sand Crane some mornings.

Again I’m remined one should not take it for granted when we see a bird at a distance that it is not be dismissed as just another XYZ. I’m relatively new to the world of birds.. it is an adventure in learning.

I have been watching the growth of a red trillium… such a little beauty, I didn’t get to see one last year.. and this year it is my first find.

can’t wait to see how she is doing today!!!

She was not alone, her mate came closer and kept watch that I would not go closer. I slowly backed away, happy to have shared a domestic moment with the pair.

Have a good day everyone!

soon

Soon I can tramp through the wilderness to meet up with “old friends” In chatting with fellow “birders” yesterday I was reminded of my trek along the river bank in a secluded area, when I came across this beauty. It was snowing yesterday, with a chill wind, but that didn’t stop one of the “gals” from chasing after a minx who teased us by running past us in a great hurry to “?” Life is a wonderful adventure, each day is a new chapter…. Enjoy whatever you get up to today!

Whether you are happy or not depends on your perspective. The things that happen in your life are neither good nor bad. It is your perspective that determines whether the outcome is good or unfortunate,

PL Principle #3 I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

Till soon!

Bom dia!

Nope, didn’t work, saying good morning in Brazilian Portuguese didn’t work, the snow is still happening outside my window,, NOTE. if you are out today the ice storm yesterday took down some of the weaker trees. P22 Mer Bleu has a tree preventing your exit from the parking area. I did report it yesterday morning, but the maintenance crew might not have gotten to it yet. BE CAREFUL unless you know that area of road if you back up to turn around, there is a steep incline on the right (Passenger’s side). You need to avoid the area and go back via the one way around the circle,. AND that is tricky if another car is coming in. Please take care.

Trees snap and break when we have heavy wet snow and ice pellets followed by more freezing rain, that is just what a Canadian winter can be like. We were lucky, power lines were not affected.

How are you doing Sunshine and balmy winds where you are? Life is good. Mother Nature has many forms of expression. Today is another day. Let go of yesterday and start fresh

It is interesting because it is difficult. In order to overcome difficulties in your life, you need to think hard and be creative. That is why life is always interesting.

honk honk

The Canada Geese are back… their loud bark could be heard from the road as I drove up to Mud Lake I heard them bickering and calling out to each other.

For those of you who know this conservation area, you know how congested it can get (with humans) today it wasn’t too bad.. it was a beautiful day, the humans were spaced out, except for a couple that were watching an owl sleep, it was mostly walk by, nod, and keep going … at the bridge tho’ I met a fellow visitor who had some seed in his hand…

The birds seemed to know he was “carrying”… two of them a male and female actually stalked us, so they could get to him.. then they boldly stood and waited for him to “perform”.. I’d swear they were demanding a toll for crossing the bridge. LOL knowing they can deliver a mean bite, I stood very still while they assessed me and then moved along.

It is mating season, believe me you have never heard a demanding aggressive bird until you hear a Canada Goose defending its turf. They race across the ice, necks extended and give off the most abusive sound. I was glad I was an observer and far from the angry male …

patiently waiting while her mate chased the offending bird that dared come too close.

It was with reluctance that I left the area … there was just so much to see… the balmy weather was intoxicating – the forecast is for colder weather .. and snow later.. The birds have settled in.. another trip once the ice is gone will bring a totally different feel, and different birds.

A cheerful smile and expression makes everyone around you happy. When you do everything with a smile, not only you but the people around you will feel good. Always remember to put on a happy face.
