enjoying a bit of gossip

Whether you are happy or not depends on your perspective. The things that happen in your life are neither good or bad. It is your perspective that determines whether the outcome is good or unfortunate

Do you always say what you are thinking? Are your reactions always “honest”??

Have a great start to the week everyone!

Your surroundings reflect your state of mind. Everything that appears before you is a reflection of your state of mind. If you work to improve your mind and actions, then what appears in the mirror will also be well balanced.

Happiness is spending time with the wildlife that was taking advantage of a beautiful day. The young birds that had been wee ones last time I visited the island are now young adolescents. (Bates island)

new discovery

The rock /minerals I found lying around, reminded me of my rockhound days… when I would go in search of old mines and look for unusual rocks/minerals etc. My husband and I would travel to the Bancroft area of Ontario every year for the big Rock Hound Gemboree.. hmmm wonder with the pandemic if this will happen this year? Have not been in years and years.. this find yesterday on NCC trail was a wonderful discovery for me.. narrow trail, then opening up to just this vast area of rock… not for everyone, but I loved the moment.

Be very careful about doing things you really like. Do everything in moderation. When you over do you will lose your balance.

The above reminder is one I need to repeat a few times… =^_^=

With todays’ steady downpour, I get to try my new rain poncho… Till soon.

STAY SAFE!!!

Got a nice little piece of limestone… tiny weeny couldn’t resist.

texture

Spent the time this morning capturing the different textures in the landscapes that I was exploring. Overcast and very humid. At times the air was still and stifling, but when a breeze whipped up a bit of mischief if was wonderful.

This little guy kept hoping for a treat… at one point I thought he would try walking up my pant leg.

I found some wonderful samples of Lime stone… I got to explore a part of a trail I had not been on yet… last time I was there it was too muddy. West end NCC off Moodie. I actually wore the mosquito netting today, it looks hideous, but it works!

almost

She didn’t run away, that made me happy, we just kind of stayed in one place, aware of each other. She did after a minute or two continue with her munching. Ignoring me. It was only when we heard people approaching that she began to move away.

It is moments like this that make my early morning walks worthwhile. it isn’t the picture but the moment spent just being with this rabbit was special. I think that the animals that stay near the pathways, get to know the different visitors. They can tell our walk, the sound of our foot fall on the earth. (our stride,) I’m sure they watch us from their vantage points. Those of us who are regulars, they come to know and remember us.

a special thank you to Klara Doniak for her inspiration this morning.

a quiet meditation

An early morning hike into the woods to see if i could catch a glimpse of reported wildlife in the P23 sector. It was uneventful as far as meeting up with a four legged creature of any height and size. I stopped several times to just sit and listen. The next picture is a log I sit on, I can see down the steep incline to the water, and behind me you can see easily between the trees.

It was later than I wanted it to be, but I didn’t get as early a start as I would have liked. I was grappling with internet issues with access to accounts etc. Man made discoveries and inventions are so often just a plain “pain” .. thank goodness we don’t require a password or an account to access the wonderful world of Nature. I have found that a good layer of bug repellant works wonders.. I don’t care what I look like, I prepare carefully for my sojourn into the depths of the woods. I have a scarf that by now must be saturated with spray remnants from previous outings and has been coated with a fresh layer.. Same can be said of the long sleeve pullover that I find works well, not being to heavy or too light, sleeves when pulled down are over my hands. It too has been liberally sprayed with bug repellant from the tips of the sleeves well up the arms.

One item that is key to my “outfit” is my hat.. It has been sprayed all over the exterior and on the underside of the brim as well. Not one to ever like wearing a hat of any kind. since my woodland journeys are almost a daily happening, the hat since mosquito season began is de rigour! By the time I’m making my way back, the mosquitos are able to get closer to me.. note to self, next time, put the small repellant spray bottle back in your vest or cargo pocket. What one must remember to do is make sure you shower and get off all the deet and other sprays off your skin as soon as you can. In doing so, I’m happy to say, my allergies have been kept at bay and although not eliminated, considering I spent a lot of time outdoors these days.. I am not on 24 hour antihistamines ..

tomorrow bright and early, I’m going to go in search of the (female) moose I heard about today!

love rocks

I’ve yet to meet a rock I’ve not liked. They can be hard to get to know, but always they have a story to tell. Much like trees, the longer they are around, the more ambiance they pick up and over time, they are works of art. Everything in life tells a story, yesterday was a fascinating day, I had a lot of new experiences, and met a lot of new rocks and trees that teased me with their history.

Discovering far away places, is great, except didn’t get my walking in, so I’m off this morning to make up for the steps I missed yesterday.

Today’s calendar..

You will find joy when you immerse yourself in your task. when you face your tasks with a can do attitude, you will be filled with enthusiasm and inspiration.
