are we learning

How we adapt and adjust to the changes around us says a lot about how we manage/cope in life. This Panda was not deterred by a bit of snow.

This of course is would could be in store if we are not focused and being aware of the road we are traveling during or after a winter storm has descended on us. (Reuters,cathal McNaughton, Ireland)

This is all that could be seen of buildings and cars during a heavy smog day from an observatory tower in Beijing, I’d heard of the smog there, but not seen just how heavy and dense it is.

Is this how we want to live our lives, do we want to wear face masks when we step outside our doors. This is how people in Beijing have to protect their lungs during polluted days in their city.

Bonjour , hallo..13th

I’m not going to add to this… for today, I will meditate and cogitate on this one. It is a big lesson and one that I have not mastered yet. It is another beautiful day, therefore, it is a perfect day to reflect on why I find this lesson so difficult to follow through on. Intellectually I understand … hmmm is my mind being lazy again?

Perhaps this will be a tad bit more motivational… the kitty picture has me wanting to go find a sunny spot to curl up on a cushion and go back to sleep, or grab a short nap.

Yes this is better I might not manage a stretch like that…. but I can sure do my own version of a good long stretch.. hmmm just thinking about it has me motivated to go look for my exercise mat.

Have a good day dear friend, drink lots of water, eat your crunchy veggies, and see you soon, Smile it is contagious.

Tuning into tomorrow

Another time and place – Cloud People of Peru. These figures balance on the ledge of cliff, their gaze fixed where the first rays of the rising sun will appear. They wait for a new day to dawn. The Chachapoyas were an ancient Andean people known as the Warriors of the Clouds. They inhabited the mist swathed rain-forests of what is now known as Northern Peru. These figures stand as remnants of a civilization that was wiped out some 5 hundred years ago. They look out over the vast Utcubamba Valley (sourced disclose.tv)

and for true seekers

the stories unfold & knowledge is shared

digested and recreated

for the pilgrims of tomorrow

These Celtic figures on Boa Island, have stood the test of time… (irishmegaliths.org.uk) these stone aged megaliths show a tender embrace. Love is what transcends all the realities of today, and fine tunes our lives for tomorrow and ever after.

Amish Proverb

Good Morning every one, how are you today? It is not that I don’t have a lot to say, I could, but I came across proverb today, and spent a good time digesting it. Thought to share it with you.

This description of this picture says it is an Amish man riding his horse-drawn buggy through a blizzard in St. Mary’s MD. USA, Feb. 10.2010. I reflected on this moment of his journey, and eventually I decided that yes, dressed properly I would have loved to have shared the experience.

My spinning wheel sits idle gathering dust, I just had to have it, and yet .. now it sits an ornament waiting…. Certainly this is the time of year for reflection.

Not everyone is on the same page we are .. or even reading the same book. appreciate and accept the differences we meet along the way, focus on the chapter in our own lives and live the day to its fullest capacity.

Take a walk in the snow…. enjoy everything you do ….

Next time it snows, I plan to.

There is something very mystical about silver, you can polish it to a brilliant shine, yet as it lives with you, it takes on a patina of its own. lately I’ve been cleaning a lot of jewelry for the church’s Funky Monkey Boutique. a tired old piece of jewelry can come alive with a cleaning and some TLC. (Tender Loving Care). In fact what appeared to be old metal when cleaned was seen to be a lovely piece of silver that had tarnished so much over the years, it had taken on a totally different look.

The moon itself is a wonder of beauty that is always giving us a new face to see and rediscover, Nature is forever in the state of change, and so are we. Each change brings a new dimension to our lives. We can waste time and energy trying to redo or stop the change, but the reality is we can’t go back. When we appreciate our lives for what it is at the very moment we are living it, We are well on our way to finding a peaceful way of existence.

Silver is associated with the moon, it symbolizes the night, the ‘Yin” side of life. It is a beautiful precious metal,to maintain its glow it needs to be worn, and tended to. So do our spirits, our minds, our bodies……… like the moon, we shine bright, we wax, we wane. Attending church/temple/shrine, is one way of polishing and working on our “shine”. Finding ways to stay in “tune” “touch” with our spiritual needs is important…. Today being Thanksgiving in PL, we gave thanks for the blessings of the month as well as for the past year.

May the silver moonbeams of the night

light your way to where it is bright,

so that your entry into the new year will be filled with light.

A celebration that is sure to delight…

I wish with all my heart and might…

That your dreams come true for you this night.

sounds of snow

There is something to be said about the sounds on waking during or after a fresh snow fall. It is a muffled silence that wraps the house in a cozy ambiance.. .I lay for almost an hour today visiting the many postings of friends on Facebook. Never would I do such a thing on another day. Somehow the quiet of the morning allowed the lazy side of me to enjoy the moment. I got to see videos that I otherwise would probably not have seen because I would have been up out of bed and right into my morning routine.

When I did get up, it was to grab the iPhone and head for the back door to take some pictures to share with you on the wonders of the new fresh fallen snow. Suet and bird feed are put in the feeders in the front where active dogs can’t get at the dropped seeds. First line of attack for birds is the feeders themselves, only when they can’t get at the feeder or the feeder is bare waiting for a refill do they pick up after themselves. OK ok that is not quite true, the smarter ones are happy to get the fresh seed slopped by the type A birds that are busy trying to outdo themselves by being first on the small ledge of the feeders.

While we think of decorating trees and our homes, Mother Nature has been busy putting her own signature on the look of the holiday season. “Life is Art” (PL Precept 1) Yesterday this same scene would have been drab and weary from the cold winters day. Today with the artistic touches of nature, it is vibrant and alive, giving us a totally different side of its many “faces”..

In every little nook and cranny of our “inner selves” is a story to be told, a “golden moment” we have lived and will relive in another season. Some lessons come back too many times to count, others come along, and we never see them again, why, because we captured and retained the essence of the first visit.

My lazy mind appreciated the morning lie in, so did the dogs who never stirred from my side, we were swaddled under warm blankets and the quilt I made a couple of years ago. We were content. Enjoy such moments when they come to you. The many “sounds of snow”… just one of the pleasures of winter.

The Japanese Snow Monkey enjoys the snow, and in Kyoto, Japan, the big snowflakes make for a lovely picture. Taken outside the Kamigamo Shrine.

Even the Shinto shrine in Nagano Japan, has worn a blanket of snow.

Even though the forecast is for snow, and a lot of it over the next day or so, I think I’ll find ways to enjoy my day/night in ways that won’t be complicated by the snowfall. Besides, what they say will happen, may not happen at all.
