A lazy start to another wonderful day, closes my eyes, smiles and remembers yesterday. Would you look at this tree, how old must it be, how extraordinary its experiences in life must have been.  It is hard to tell from a picture just how  high that opening is, right away, I want to climb up to explore inside.  In some ways it reminds me of a big bird with its mouth open, and other times when I look at it, I imagine its the entrance to a hobbit condo.  Imagination is wonderful isn’t, so is intuition.  Both are gifts we were born with, some of us use these gifts more than others.

It is still too cool in this part of the world, to lay in the shade basking  under the warm healing sunshine, but in other parts of the country this could be one of your options today.  Yes I am a bit of a day dreamer, but what is wrong with taking a bit of “laid back” time for yourself.  Value your intuition, often we “know” a little voice tells us, we “need” to slow down, engage in some “me time”. Instead we look at our lists, or to the voices of friends who want to go here, there and everywhere, and you become “busy, busy busy”.  We are not machines, and we all know that machines break down, require ongoing maintenance.  Unlike the tree in the first picture, we might not show our scars and our age in the same way, but instinctively we do know when its time to rest, when we have pushed ourselves to a limit. The “Universe” looks out for us, Believe and have Faith, listen to your “intuition”, stop planning every minute of your day.  Allow time in your day to  P L A Y.  Don’t wait for a better time, that time will never just materialize.  Be good to your SELF today.  PRAY=recharge,  rain or shine, make this a day you’ll remember.            PL Precept #18.   Each moment is a Turning Point.

The tree

ec90095ea978e96e9a3ed4124392357eThe tree is one of the most essential of traditional symbols.  the oak was sacred to the Celts; the ash to the Scandinavians, the lime tree Germany, the fig tree India, etc.  Trees express an selective correspondence, symbolism of the tree denotes the life of the cosmos, its consistence, growth, proliferation, generative and regenerative process.  It stands for inexhaustible life.  The tree with its roots in the ground and its branches reaching towards the sky, symbolizes and upward trend, which it relates to other symbolism as well.

The above picture for me reminded me so much of a passage written by Kahlil Gibran, that i went in search of it to share it with you today.

“Let there be spaces in your togetherness, And let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone, Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping. For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts. And stand together, yet not too near together: For the pillars of the temple stand apart, And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.”
― Kahlil GibranThe Prophet

Read and take in his words today…. let it fill your meditation, find how it applies to your life/circumstances today.  Respect and courtesy are reflections of how much we value others. ” Pay particular attention to the continuing development of your character, you have the Potential Energy for an enlightened insight that could change your life.”   Tao.

Mindful

Being aware. involved, each day, almost every moment of our waking hours when we are mindful, we have pathways that open up and we are faced with what path we will follow.

Good Morning everyone =^_^= I have enjoyed researching how I would present this today, thank you for this opportunity and for the moment we are now sharing.

802ae102e1e78e7bba5162a4b3382da3Calm, peaceful, less journeyed, pristine, the photographer captured the silence of the moment, even though it shows that a vehicle can travel this road, it doesn’t capture that, the picture draws us in, so that if we are very quiet,we will hear the birds  and the rustle of leaves as the forest animals go about their business. It is very inviting.

bbcea7536952526366ec1d1d2c53f6d9This amazing shot was posted by visitjapan.com it is of Yuki-no-Otani snow canyon road in Japan.  The walls of snow are approximately 5 stories high.  Whew I see a car driving along there, hmmm do I want to be in it?  Actually if you really look there are many other cars so it is a well traveled road, still as beautiful as it is I might like to travel the road in a different season.

LOL now this picture, taken in New Zealand, where it seems there are many such roads to entice the adventurous soul, is approx. 22 km of winding treacherous road with no guard rails (Skippers Canyon near Queenstown) Look at the country side, I would love to be  there, however I don’t think in that particular vehicle pulling a load.

Being mindful, means choices, participating in the decisions/challenges the Universe provides us with.  Nature gives us the landscapes/tools, God provides! What path will you take today?

The leading line of the path leads the eye directly to the maple tree.

Choices

Choices

I got this picture in the mail the other day, caption was about the pot holes in life, and what a danger they were to us and our vehicles.
I see an adventure of a country road, leading me to new challenges and possibilities. I gaze down the road, happily anticipating what lies ahead,  and wondering what is around the corner.  I hope that there is a place I can pull over to explore the forest of trees that line this new discovery. A dirt road, and unknown destinations are delightful to find..

Smile bring sunshine into your life and those who meet you today. =^_^=

Japan, aspects of

Japan, aspects of

Now back home in Canada, in the middle of Nature’s awesome exhibit of her Fall colour palette, I find myself drifting off to memories of my all too brief time in Japan.
Japan had never been one of my travel destinations, so when I decided to go, it was pack up and go, no research or prior reading was done on the country, their customs, attitudes and behaviors.

For instance, I had no idea that in Japan public toilets did not supply paper towels, or hand dryers. I would have known to bring with me my own handkerchief.

Western tradition, we say “Ladies first”… Japanese tradition is “you first” the other person is placed on a higher social level than oneself… BUT… interestingly, going through a doorway, the senior male is expected to lead the way, and on a crowded train or bus, there is not need for a man to give up his seat, no matter how many packages or children a woman may be carrying. (social expectation)

When invited for lunch, a visitor usually leaves by 3 pm. while for an evening meal, visitors do not stay any later than 8 pm, even if encouraged to stay, the polite response is to leave. Host and family will often even go as far as the transit station with their guests. At the least, they will all stand at the door wishing the parting guests, safe journey etc.

The Japanese language is rich with special ways to express gratitude  ie..
O-machido-sama deshita, -Thank you for waiting.
Go-chiso-sama deshita – Thank you for the meal.
Go-kuro-sama deshita – Thank you for going out of your way
O-tsukara-sama deshita -Thank you for your hard work.

Think how often we hear or say Thank you in our daily lives.

What I did experience and loved was the underground streets (Chikado) (areas of shopping) that are built in conjunction with major subway stations (train stations) in the larger cities, ie. Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya in particular)

Every eating place (shokudo) and resutoran (restaurant) has an outdoor display cabinet that contains shokuhin sanpuru, (life size plastic replicas of dishes being served in that location). I understand that in most cases, what you see outside is a very close duplicate to what you will actually get in the shop, down to the number of slices and size of portions.

I came back home with a yen for more of the fabulous food offerings I had while in Japan. No, this taste delight has not been satisfied. I will have to continue in my searching. chances are I’ll do better in a larger city, i.e. Toronto. If you have any suggestions, please send them along to me.

In PL we say…. Saying Thank You creates a heart to heart connection.  If you don’t put your thoughts into words and actions, you will not be able to express how you truly feel.  By expressing your gratitude in words, you can really get your feelings across.

Blessings to you all, now and forever

Yup, Fall is here

Yup, Yup,, Fall is coming

leaves are falling some trees will soon be bare
it is cooler outside, but still the sun shines bright.
I love being outside, anytime,  any where.
as long as I have you dear friend in sight.

have I told you lately, how I love having you in my life
gosh, I should tell you every day
why, because not a day goes by
not one single day, where I’m not touched by your love
and enthusiastic acceptance of me, in your life.
Human that I am, self absorbed I get.
patiently you wait, you sit, lie or just rest
always by my side, I feel you there, and know
I always know, with you in my life. I’m never alone.

>>Only goodness and kindness follow me all the days of my life…I will not fear, for you are always close beside me……
my strength renewed, you guide me along the right path….
Like a tree, I stand strong and proud, arms reaching up into the heavens….alleluia, alleluia

The Joy of Expression is in the Process!

Blessings .. always and forever…

Signs – inspiration is everywhere

While in Japan, I was struck in all directions by sights and sounds that were new to me.  I loved the different signs and huge billboards that we passed while enroute to our final destination.  I’m funny that way, I enjoy visual and tactile sensory delights.  I can sit for hours watching a Chinese New Year extravaganza on the telly, not understand a word, but be totally captivated by the colours and the sounds of singing, laughter & happiness that come to my  ears.  This is a sign that intrigued me while I strolled about taking pictures.  I had fun thinking of what it could be saying to me.

The scene behind it was one of mystery and natural beauty.  Fantasy? Medieval? Science Fiction? it caught my imagination.

WP_20130802_021

In my mind’s eye I could see the vegetation that was so dense and lush, sheltering small animals and perhaps little fairy communities.  I was tempted to climb over the fence to explore  However, I was not dressed for exploring in thick overgrown vegetation and I had no one nearby that I could ask.  It was evening, and the sun was going down, so I listened to my “inner voice” and was content with knowing I had taken a picture of this inspiring view.  Today I remember to ask Rev. Eugene for a translation of the sign -” Danger! Do not play here”   was what the pretty sign said.  It was a warning sign.

The other sign that I liked was No Parking on the Street.

WP_20130802_032

Such an everyday sign.  but written in Japanese characters, and to my foreign eyes, it was a pretty picture.

All this to say -enjoy new discoveries, listen to your inner voice, dare to explore, the path will open up when we let go and let “God”  Always carry a good dose of common sense in your traveling bag.  Never leave home without it. Divine Nature/God is ALWAYS with us.  “Even if you don’t have what you need, you will find a way.”  Think creatively….. remember Life is ART………………
