28th. habits
my morning face … my thinking,,. my actions…. my reaction to the moment of awareness I’m having..
Oh dear… such contrast … time to reign in the busy mind and pull myself together…. CHANGE is in the air, and I realize that I have fallen into old habits. I don’t know when, how, or why this happened, well.. yes I do.. I fell back into what was comfortable to do, ie. eat all kinds of comfort foods not because I especially wanted them but because I was lazy. they were convenient and fast. I spend more time on the doing things I like (which is good) but not if I am neglecting something else that needs doing.
Reminds me of a saying I saw in a book the other day, “above all … be the heroine of your life, not the victim” (Nora Ephron)
Here is another good one… “owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it” Brene Brown.

It is not fun to be stuck in one place. Instead of being captured by what is in front of you, strive to broaden your horizons.

shut the door
What is it when the mind just won’t stop.. so many thoughts, so much information, so many “things” needing attention, There comes a time when the constant traffic of ideas, thoughts, conversations, tasks, to do lists, and just plain chatter … gets to be too much. Self preservation, turn off. Slow down. Walk away, take a deep breath, shut the door!

PL Precept # 5 One’s Self, is lost by being emotional.
Chill. Easy to say, but hard to do. Sometimes we need to remember we should close one door before opening another. Or find an entry that is open and inviting, leading to endless possibilities.
How much can we hide behind a closed door? or…. in closing a door, we keep out negative energy, or do we, we can never escape the realities of our own thoughts.
Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

In going through a file, I found this stashed in a folder all by its lonesome. You know my fascination with wild turkeys these days.. this lone bird caught my eye. Wondering what he/she is doing? When I saw today’s lesson (PL Calendar) I thought it perfect for my visual today. Anyone out there recognize this bird?
When you get stuck take a step back….. When you are able to see things objectively, your viewpoint will change and you will receive new wisdom.

be still my heart
Who says these wonderful birds don’t have personalities. This beauty was showing off for me today, and I was lucky enough to get my cell out for a picture. Since I get to see them now almost every morning, I am getting used to them, and them to me… I put out a product called bird butter that I get from a specialty shop.. I apply it to the bark of trees for the woodpeckers and smaller birds. Today, my attention was called to look over to where I had just applied it.. to see not a woodpecker, but….
They are proving to be delightful critters, they are playful and naughty, curious and as you can see by the top pictures.. they can be hams/showoffs. they were seen eyeing the back of my car where the birdseed is stored (my trunk lid was up)… so far I’ve seen them with their necks outstretched, but they have kept a distance. I’ll be watching them. =^_^=
Be in tune with the feelings of others. Let’s start by trying to understand other peoples’ feelings.

frost – musing
In silence I find myself transcending the NOW of the moment
To the vibrant energy of the forest trail
I see before me the portrait of the life on each leaf – in the textures of the tree bark
I am in awe at the way the frost paints a delicate lace on the landscape that surrounds me
Each picture perfect moment is etched in my consciousness
THIS is LOVE of the rarest kind – it removes the blindfold from my eyes
I am seeing the world again … not just with my eyes
but from the heart and soul of my BEing.

Mindfulness. appreciation. this is the time of year when we see majestic colours everywhere, I am filled with an awe that such beauty exists, especially if I am driving with the sun in just the right position, and my way is filled with a dazzling vista of beauty so fleeting that I know, if I come back along the same highway, or road, the moment will have passed. I feel gratitude in my heart that I was able to experience such beauty.
Today – think – I will radiate positivity!
