So we shall let the reader answer this question for himself: who is the happier man, he who has braved the storms of life and lived – or he who has stayed securely on shore and merely existed?

Hunter S Thompson

To be great – you must be mindful of nine things: To SEE beyond where you look. To LISTEN beyond what you hear. To be GENTLE in judgement. To be RESPECTFUL in manners. To be TRUE to your word. To take PRIDE in your work. To ASK when in doubt. To think of the CONSEQUENES when angry. To think of JUSTICE and fairness when accepting an advantage.

found

In looking for pictures for a door, I came across something I had written, don’t know when, long enough ago that I had tucked it away in a book and only found it again last night when I pulled the book out to look up something. Obviously it was back when I had a printer. Since I need to retype it to get it on the PC.. I’m going to share it with you – as is- I will leave a link at the end of the post to Dan’s No facilities .. where you will find more doors … I had titled the page.. The Sun.

The Sun – written by me, sometime in the past,

The sun that had warmed and welcomed her earlier that day, was no longer friendly. She lay in quiet despair, feeling the unrelenting heat, burrow down deeper into her body. The ground under her was hard, unforgiving and uncaring that her body hurt. Where once she thought of the sun as a healing energy and one that gave life, she now thought only of how it was slowly killing her with its scorching blistering persistence on her now barely living shell.

The long slender arm that once gracefully waved to friends and showed her animation for life now lay limp and useless across her dry eyes. Her parched throat tried in vain to find one tiny drop of saliva anything to relieve the thirst that raged inside of her. She felt her soul evaporating drop by drop into the stillness around her. Nothing moved. The animals knew to conserve their energy. Not a sound could be heard… and she had no energy left to try to cry for help.

How long she lay in the semi state of consciousness, no one would ever know … all hope for rescue was gone, she simply let herself go.

It was in that moment, that she felt rather than saw a presence. She knew her eyes would not open, could not open, her strength was gone. Maybe the angels had come to take her away from this burning inferno. Maybe… she would once more feel the cool of a shaded nook, and feel the fresh green grass beneath her feet. If she were to die now… she would be rescued from this horrible state of passive death.

What was that … a sweet smell .. the air around her had changed… then yes… she felt a drop on her lips. A gentle rain, just enough to slowly wind its way down her throat and give a feeling of reprieve. She knew she could not move… so she lay and accepted the gift from the gods.. her body was bathed in healing rain, drop by drop she felt her skin greedily take it in.

Maybe she would see tomorrow… maybe there was hope… as her body drank this blessing from above, she felt the earth beneath her begin to take shape and mould to her now drenched body. Her arms that had been limp and useless now began to lift in prayer to the skies.

Her eyes opened to the world and she knew she could stand tall and be strong again. In letting go and accepting the moment of despair, she had welcomed the unknown, in doing so it became her friend… She was free to embrace the sun again… for each death is a new life. Always and forever.

I stepped through a door from the past, I don’t know why or what the reason was for my little ‘story” but it still resonates with me today.

Do everything willingly and joyfully. Your upbeat attitude will make things more cheerful and enjoyable.

Wednesday – what?

So… I’m lying in bed, eyes open – am I awake? .. Cuz… I’m looking your way, do I see you? – your mouth is moving and there is sound, are you talking to me? Oh hello… we are on the same road, are we going the same way? Is our reason for being there the same?

and here is another one… because you see a smile, am I happy?

Make today a different day. Instead of doing the same old thing, be creative and do things to improve your day.

house on the hill

So lonely and sad, the old house now sits so silently on the hill – No more does it hear the sounds of children playing – or the clanking of pots and pans as dinner is being made It’s former charm has now long since gone.

Imagine how it had once been, the proud haven for how many generations of families? Can you see the farmer tending the land, animals grazing near and around the homestead…. I think I see that a swing once sat in the front yard, where come evening, the family could gather and watch as the evening skies filled with stars. A gallery of twinkling particles of light against a clear night time sky

My friend and photographer Shirley Keen took these photos while on one of her jaunts. I was going to use it for “Thursday Doors” but there was a poignant feeling about the house, that inspired me to give it its own place on a page. Old homesteads like this are found not only in NZ but here in Canada, and I’m sure in the USA. I noticed in the pictures there was no road leading in to the house, nor any sign of hydro (electricity) being fed to the house. It has to have been vacant for years. There is a road not far off, but no driveway to this building.

Update. the Hoult farm house has been in the same family for 6 generations. It seems there will soon be a new house built close to where this one now stands by one of the descendent of this family.

Could this have been a reservoir for catching rain water?

Seeing the pictures Shirley took of this old farmstead brought back memories of days when the entire area around where I grew up was farmland such as seen in these photos, and now … all one can see are city lights and urban sprawl.

Let’s interact proactively with an ever changing society. society is always rapidly hanging with the times. Keep your eyes and mind in tune with these change and learn to deal with them proactively.

Have a great day everyone!

Nov.11.

Today in Canada it is Remembrance Day… at one time it was called Armistice day, Always we are faced with changes. how we handle them, is a reflection on our own personal philosophies. Being that it is also in PL the day we have a special service for honoring and offering appreciation for our ancestors, it is a very special day indeed.

Reminder in our area all commercial shops will be closed, opening only at 12:30 pm/ Federal and Provincial offices are closed, Due to circumstances, check local listings for what and how special services and Remembrance Day activities will be held, and where.

The past leads to now and now leads to the future. Life is an accumulation of moments. Cherish each one.

Wednesday- PL WAY

PL Peace Tower -Japan

Your life is your very own unique work of art. If you cut corners or miss important details, you will not be able to live up to your fullest potential. If you fail to see what is important or miss a vital step, the value of your artistic life will be declined. It is important to put your heart into even the smallest of matters reminding yourself that each small amount accumulates into the whole of your artistic life.

PL Members’ Guide

Life is Art

PL Precept # 1

To Live is to express One’s Self

PL Precept # 2

Did you know that the first founder of PL, Rev. Tokuharu Miki, was formerly a buddhis priest> In 1912, he met Rev Tkumitsu Kanada who instantly cured his chronic asthma through the “Sacred rite of Ofurikae” So profoundly affected was Rev. Tokubaru Miki he became his disciple. At that time in Japan, tuberculosis was one of the deadliest diseases, Rev Miki wanted to apply his learning and the principles of Rev. Kanada’s teachings in helping the young/old deal with this deadly disease that was taking so many lives.

There is much to learn from knowing our history, and appreciating the lessons learned by our ancestors. Tomorrow, the 11th. in all PL churches there will be a 10:a.m. service honoring our Ancestors’. Ancestors’ Day – the 11th of each month -a ceremony where we express our gratitude for the love and virtues of our ancestors and ask for their protection and guidance so we can continue to live the PL WAY.

dog wisdom

The Universe is always looking out for you.. It may not be what you expect or want, but in the long and the short of it, eventually, you will recognize, or see that what IS, is meant to BE.

I received an e-mail earlier today with a lot of dog wisdom pictures/quotes. They came at a time when I needed to see and hear what was presented in the files he sent, I’m sharing a few with you now.

World Peace does not invite people just by praying… praying for peace is important, but let’s take concrete action. Efforts and sincere actions to create harmony, not only in the home but also in the workplace and community, will lead to world peace.

in the woods

A friend returned to the area, she obviously pulled it out of the area I had felled it in, and put it up against the tree on the other side of the feeding area. Friends are invaluable treasures!

It was my first time out on my own… I was careful, however, what did my day in was that when I got home I decided to do a wash (laundry) and had to do the stairs several times.. That gave my leg its last hurrah, it shoved back… it is now back in an upper brace, to assuage the swelling.. and I will rest and put it up to let it regain the steps it lost yesterday!!!

However the outing itself was “awesome” I loved the solitude and welcome silence of the woods as I entered. I was able to feel the freshness and smell the fallen leaves. This is my favourite time of year. The blue jay with his brilliant blue and white plumage came to the party, and sang his delight at finding the peanuts. They (the birds) didn’t reprimand, they were joyous in their acceptance of fresh seed.

Speaking of food, hmmm its breakfast time… =^_^=

Improve yourself to have a kinder heart. Do what you can to be caring and considerate to make others happy.
