I started out with the intention of walking around the bog at a very slow pace. I wanted to concentrate on how quietly I could walk. As often happens, the bird calls, the textures of the various plants were distracting for me. I found myself taking pictures (what’s new!!). As I slowly made my way around the trail, I met a couple who were also out for a morning stroll. I think one of the greatest joys is meeting new people who share the love of the land.
In PL, we believe that PL #18 Each moment is a turning point.. how true, the pleasant visit, the exchange of ideas and information left me with lots of possibilities to put on my “to do” list. Places I have not been to in a long time, they reminded me of in telling me of their experiences. I feel a happy anticipation, a couple of the places they brought to my attention, I used to visit when my husband and I traveled the backroads.
We are heading into a new week – lets in following the teachings of PL, remember that .. PL # 15 All is a Mirror We should try to start each day with a smile .. PL Precept # 2 To live is to express One’s Self. If we are smiling and happy, people around us, will feel the positive energy…

An early morning hike into the woods to see if i could catch a glimpse of reported wildlife in the P23 sector. It was uneventful as far as meeting up with a four legged creature of any height and size. I stopped several times to just sit and listen. The next picture is a log I sit on, I can see down the steep incline to the water, and behind me you can see easily between the trees.
It was later than I wanted it to be, but I didn’t get as early a start as I would have liked. I was grappling with internet issues with access to accounts etc. Man made discoveries and inventions are so often just a plain “pain” .. thank goodness we don’t require a password or an account to access the wonderful world of Nature. I have found that a good layer of bug repellant works wonders.. I don’t care what I look like, I prepare carefully for my sojourn into the depths of the woods. I have a scarf that by now must be saturated with spray remnants from previous outings and has been coated with a fresh layer.. Same can be said of the long sleeve pullover that I find works well, not being to heavy or too light, sleeves when pulled down are over my hands. It too has been liberally sprayed with bug repellant from the tips of the sleeves well up the arms.
One item that is key to my “outfit” is my hat.. It has been sprayed all over the exterior and on the underside of the brim as well. Not one to ever like wearing a hat of any kind. since my woodland journeys are almost a daily happening, the hat since mosquito season began is de rigour! By the time I’m making my way back, the mosquitos are able to get closer to me.. note to self, next time, put the small repellant spray bottle back in your vest or cargo pocket. What one must remember to do is make sure you shower and get off all the deet and other sprays off your skin as soon as you can. In doing so, I’m happy to say, my allergies have been kept at bay and although not eliminated, considering I spent a lot of time outdoors these days.. I am not on 24 hour antihistamines ..
PL Precept # 1 Life is Art
I’ve yet to meet a rock I’ve not liked. They can be hard to get to know, but always they have a story to tell. Much like trees, the longer they are around, the more ambiance they pick up and over time, they are works of art. Everything in life tells a story, yesterday was a fascinating day, I had a lot of new experiences, and met a lot of new rocks and trees that teased me with their history.
Discovering far away places, is great, except didn’t get my walking in, so I’m off this morning to make up for the steps I missed yesterday.

Nature amplifies my love of life. Q
I wanted so badly to be on the water. The kayaks drifting along were such a tease to my imagination. Had I had water proof footwear I would have walked in the water.. it was so inviting. there are no swimming signs. A place to sit on the water’s edge with feet in the water.. ahhhh just the thought is enticing…. I looked for a suitable place, but couldn’t find one. The wild parsnip, upper left corner, is poisonous, there is a big sign that says to keep away, & not touch it. Very pretty though. The bird that I see and hear the most of is the red wing black bird. It is everywhere, unfortunately my camera doesn’t zoom in enough to catch it, but I do see it almost in and around every corner.
Change your mind, thinking “It will be alright” Do the best you can without being overly attached.

Was it a dream, no it was real………..
What started out as a routine search and find mission, ( looking for a launching place for a kayak adventure), I found the conservation area, and decided to explore. It seemed that it was one “OH wow” after another. What is that expression, “seek and you shall find”. I didn’t go to the very end of the trail, I doubled back when I got to the Vimy bridge, it was a good 5K by the time I finished my exploring.
Make today a different day. Instead of doing the same old thing, be creative and do things to improve your day.

Tired, stuffed up, tired, watery eyes, did I mention tired…ugh but of course, it is allergy season. Having lived a life time with allergies, how on earth can I not have realized… it is the time of year when my allergies come to call and unfortunately stay awhile.
Let’s begin today with a smile. Let’s start the day with a positive outlook, looking forward to what we can discover.

Thank goodness for modern medicine and let’s not forget, central air. =^_^= Guess who will stay out of the woods for a bit. Well maybe… it is hard to resist the call of the wild.
Ever felt like you are caught between a rock and a hard place. This has been my position these last 48 some hours. I’ve been doing this blog since 2012 and overall have been pleased with WP. In fact I’ve been happy, blogging along, with no major disruptions or problems. Then out of nowhere, I couldn’t load anything, it was so frustrating, it took awhile but finally the reason became clear, I am a premium member (means I pay monthly for the service) What I had not realized was that there was a maximum storage associated with the account. Ah…. what to do.
Yesterday I got my second Covid shot, and truthfully all I wanted to do was sleep. So that is what I did, this morning I got on with the WP csr.. and found out my options. To reduce my storage means I go back to 2012 and start deleting .. it is simple enough, once I understood what I needed to do, but it is a loooong process. Hours later I have barely scraped the top of the bucket. I will persevere.
You can freely express yourself within the rules. (sigh I’m finding this out) Consider rules as a canvas on which to express your specialty artistically.

I can be thankful that for so many years I have been basically problem free. Now I have to reconsider my plan of action going forward. This is good because it means I have to look at what I’ve been doing, and decide if this is still the way I want to proceed.
We are still experiencing very hot, weather, the forecast is for it to cool down to more seasonable temperatures over the next few days. For those able to attend, we will have service on the 11th. Ancestor’s day at 10 a.m.

Everything will be just fine.. With a positive attitude anything is possible.

When I first saw this picture that Num (NumOttawa on Instagram) posted I wanted to write a love sonnet, a sentiment of caring and adoration, I was so inspired. I didn’t do it, I put the idea aside and .. yup, l lost the moment.

PL Precept # 18 Each moment is a turning point
How often have I had an idea in the middle of the night, wake enough to think I should write it (notebook and pen are right there by the bed) I don’t do it, thinking I’ll remember, I don’t.
Yesterday I went for my second covid shot.. I got the appointment in the morning, for 5:10 that afternoon. Booking online you then have to wait for confirmation that your request was accepted and that you are confirmed. There were public announcements bookings were not happening the city was out of vaccines, people couldn’t get through to the call in centres, or if they did they were told sorry, call back. It was a day of waiting and hoping that mine would happen. It did. Whew… so relieved.
But somehow during the day, I lost the TV remote. Don’t ask I have no idea, how, why or where, it is not to be found anywhere, I’ve looked and searched to no avail. At one time, there were two of us looking, my friend who drove me for my shot.. helped turn everything upside down too.. nothing. The two heads are better than one, didn’t work.. sigh.
So guess what, it is time to tell myself “things happen” and yes its darn inconvenient, but accept it I must and move on
