disappointments

Disappointments happen. Often, a lot, no matter, they happen, and when they do, you feel a certain loss. The dictionary defines it ” sadness or displeasure caused by the non fulfillment of one’s hopes or expectations” “a disappointing person or thing”

It happens, and we can either shut ourselves away from the human race and try to avoid any other such moments, or we move on. In PL we learn to move on, we accept it happened, and learn from the experience.

I will not have complaints about others, matters, nor the weather. Rather I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions

Perfect Liberty Principle # 2

See, it is my decision to let it ruin my otherwise happy day, or to change direction, move on, and share time and space with “happy” moments/friends, and or, create new interests, there is a whole world to discover.

Always, the ball is ours, we own the results of our choices,

I will live with a mind of appreciation toward others and things.

PL Principle #3

It is early in the day, there are so many possibilities before us, enjoy your day, may it be productive and happy.

Thanksgiving

Time to reflect on all that has been happening in our lives. How far we have come since the year began. In PL, we give special thanks for all of life’s lessons, each moment is a new experience and a new awareness.

We, members, humbly express our appreciation to God and to Oshieoya-sama for the blessings of the past month and sincerely ask to be guided and protected by the grace of Oyashikiri in the coming month. We renew our determination to follow and practice our individual Miosie (Divine instructions) and to wholeheartedly share our faith with others.

Thursday doors

Good Thursday morning all. Three of the pictures were taken by a friend in Michigan, he is a very kind and talented individual, he knows of my “passion” for old buildings and doors”. The bright Xmas door is my latest find from the Dollar Tree (stores located here and in the States)

For more pictures of doors, and to follow https://miscellaneousmusingsofamiddleagedmind.wordpress.com/2019/11/14/thursday-doors-november-14-2019/ Norm has a feature every Thursday, he is the brain child of Thursday Doors.

We had a great meeting yesterday at the Doll Club, even managed to raise some money for the House of Lazarus in Mountain. (food bank) Remember to give when you can.

Always live life with a smile, life is no longer a trial when we believe.

Being considerate of others is just as important as what works for you. Always be mindful of the situations of others not just your own. To have a good relationship with those around you always think of what is important to them too.

11.11.19

The early morning light, was not going to get any brighter, yet I found the sight of the single tree still standing with its crisp mantle of dusty orange leaves, appealing.

falling snow invites the visitor to linger

I found today to be beautiful, it was moody, it was stirring, most of all it was full of expressions waiting to be discovered.

Appreciate the Makoto (sincerity) of the people who came before you. Everything we have today was built upon the hard work of our ancestors and the people who came before us. Always remember to be thankful and humble and continue to build on their past successes.

Perfect Liberty 2019,11

The 11th. Ancestors day ceremony, is one of my favourites, today’s service was powerful

Voices in unison we prayed, heads bent in reverence and respect for our loved ones, and those who came forward and went into battle to keep us all free from those who would do us harm.

Where-ever you are in the world, please continue to pray for world peace.

enthusiasm

A view of winter past

.. this view is from Michigan.. Friends of mine, who live in Michigan, shared this picture with me last year.

Yes, I could have gone out and shot a picture of the lovely snow on my tree branches and in my back yard.. but my skyline is a cold overcast gray. Choices.

My day starts with reading of PL’s reminder of the day. (From PL calendar*)

Your enthusiasm will pave the way. Your enthusiasm will fuel your efforts and creativity and will spread it to those around you, driving new developments.

Perfect Liberty 2019.7

When we start the day with a purpose, it helps us make choices throughout the day. Choices help us to grow. If we make one that doesn’t exactly work out as we had planned, than we simply learn from the experience, and move along. There are no bad days, busy days yes, living each moment with positive action, is always rewarding. Life is living, and living IS life.

In sickness and in health, till death do us part.

Oyashikiri

For those interested, the 2020 calendars are out, they make great gifts to friends, the cost will be the same as it was last year. If your purchasing a number of them and cannot pick them up at the church, there will likely be a postage cost …

contrasts

Sometimes we see the changes we are experiencing … and sometimes, we are so caught up in living the moment, we actually see only the frame we are in.

Note to self.. focus on present, but also, expand your awareness to include more than just your SELF.

The shortcut to progress is to listen with a humble mind. If you are stuck in your own ways, you will eventually become bogged down. Let’s remember to be humble, learning what we can from the knowledge, advice and suggestions of others.

meaning

While walking the grounds at parc Omega, we came across this bench. I didn’t have time to meditate on it too much at the time, so I grabbed a photo. Looking at the photo I wonder why I took it at such an angle when perhaps doing it another way would have been “prettier”.. ie. no picnic bench or tent in the background.

It is the bench I wanted .. why because of the detail and the craftsmanship. There were many carvings, for sure I will return to see them all again. I wondered how many artists had been employed, I know what a connection I get to a piece when working with wood. I an NOT good at it, but I love handling and getting to know the piece that I am working on. Over the years, I have realized that I prefer instant gratification .. i.e. I work with acrylics and not oils. The medium suits my temperament and style of expression.

Wood has a rhythm of dance that requires a different focus and attention. My tools are still waiting, some within reach, and always somewhere is apiece of wood… patiently waiting.

Things that happen to us all have meaning. Everything that happens to us, happens for a reason. Each and every occurrence is a chance for you to improve yourself.

Perfect Liberty 24,2019

Remember this piece, I found it while walking that day. I badly wanted to bring it home, my friends, encouraged me to leave it in its resting place. I did, I knew that it was my passion for collecting that was”itching”.. but a captured memory,, will make do. The little woodland charmer, will be there for someone else to enjoy.

We all see the world through our personal lenses, whatever you discover, and decide to do.. make it worthwhile. Everything in life has meaning!

giving Thanks

This past week I have had wonderful Thanksgiving dinners with friends, too many, in fact… now that the actual week-end is here, I am “stuffed”, Not with the blessing of friendships, but with poultry, dressing and cranberry sauces. One can never have enough friends. I love my friends.

As I drifted off into a peaceful sleep. I counted my blessings, family, friends I absolutely delight in, the country I live in, its beauty, it changing seasons, and of course, life itself.

People, human beings, from wherever in the world all share the same skies, the same day to day challenges, what makes it different, is that each culture has its own way, and celebrate life with different holidays, and have different heroes and folklore. My father taught me that to be accepted, I had to first accept myself, AND, the ways of others. It wasn’t always about ME, but how I accepted life, lived it, and made my way, was indeed mine, and I needed to own my actions. RESPECT played a big part, if I didn’t understand, it was alright to ask, always with respect and an open heart.

Granted often food was involved, we considered it an honour to eat with friends, guests welcomed to our table, were always shown the utmost respect, and when out, there was always the reminder to be considerate of others.

Now we sit in restaurants, each at our table, or booth, the place can be packed with other diners, but not a glance is given, or a smile offered.

How is it in your “world” are you someone who is open to smiling and greeting a total stranger, if only briefly, with a sign of recognition that they are another “person” just like you….

Acceptance

These are the locks next to the once called Chateau Laurier in downtown Ottawa. Since forever, I remember these locks, I would see them every day coming into Ottawa when riding public transportation, back… when =^_^=

I don’t get to see them now, I seldom drive that way, however they are still there, and so is the hotel, only now it has another name. Change is a constant in life, it happens. Sometimes we are in the thick of it all, and other times, for some reason, even though we are aware it is happening, it isn’t in our day to day…. so it isn’t till you happen to drive that way that you rediscover the “place” At that moment you often feel the past and present come together in a “wow” moment.

My husband proposed to me at the Chateau, in that second courtyard, as we overlooked the river and the historic landscape around us. It was enchanting. I was a princess, courted by her prince. It is a cherished moment, one I relived today, when I found the sealed envelope they gave me with his wedding ring, and I Ching piece he always wore. (after a funeral, this is what they do) I had completely forgotten…I had a past, and present moment that flashed through me when I found it in a drawer while looking for papers that I needed. =^_^=

First, Accept everything.... Life is filled with moments, sometimes happy and at times inconvenient. It is important to first accept every situation as it occurs and try to accept and understand it for what it is.
