Thursday Doors -Sounds of Silence 3
Even closed and silent
a door will tell a story
like people
they are all unique
we need only
stop and listen

drawn like a moth to a flame
your silence called out to me
I knew, I needed a closer look
unlike in the books
my heart didn’t race
in fact, of emotion there was little trace
just the desire to get closer
my steps were sure as if
as if, somehow I knew
we had met before
the years had aged you
your tenants not always kind
there was not a blind
to hide your scarred and broken
parts inside.
you did your best,
you really did
sometimes, it really doesn’t matter
for life moves on
and you are left
not bare, but silent
the memories of what was
still visible on your face
you’ve left the door open
for what will be, will be
you’ve come this far
at night under the stars
you’ll sleep the gentle sleep
of one who has loved
knowing, love will always be
the sound of silence
is a living memory
love is never lost
love IS

PL Precept # 11 Always be with God
Hello.. imagine walking along and coming across this scene. This picture was taken in an abandoned amusement park. The dinosaurs in the park are made from fiberglass. the prehistoric park reportedly opened in the early 1960’s and closed in 1999. The sculptor was a James Q.Sidwell, when I came across the article, I thought. I wonder how he feels now that the park has just been abandoned, yes there are motion sensors to keep out vandals, but the creativity of the crew that put the park together .. has been left to return to nature.
I came across this bit of information because I followed the trail of this picture posted by Cyriaque Lamar (4.27.10 filed to Modern Ruins) for more reading on this piece you can read the original post here. When we come across these “wonders” we can only guess at the reason they closed their doors.
As an artist I’ve learned that every day is a new canvas. In PL. PL Precept # 1 is LIFE IS ART Every day is a new beginning,to be able to accept and delve into the challenges of the day, makes us stronger, and better people. Learning to let go, is not easy. The above picture (nuevomundotours.com) is of the Inca trail in Peru. I remember a time when I searched through books, and checked travel guides for how I could get to Peru. I never got there, and my life has not been any poorer because that desire didn’t come to pass. It was a passion, it passed, replaced by something else … that took me in another direction, and filled my life at the time.
Just because we want something today, doesn’t mean that if it is not meant to be, we should be lost and devastated. Rather, appreciate the desire, the passion, enjoy the moment, capture it if you must, but be ready and willing to let it go’
Freedom is a state of mind.
When you can allow yourself total immersion
in the moment
the JOY of life will be with you always
Love is life
Love is being ONE
with the Universe/GOD
The other day I had to take my pc in for a health check up. I’d already had a home visit and the problem couldn’t be solved here. There many of you out there .. that know the void of being without your regular PC.. Sure I have a totally freaking almost new laptop. But it isn’t my PC where all my files, pictures etc. are.

I sat at my desk when I got home and felt.. lost… abandoned. I had to set up the Asus to work with. Not just have it for when we travel etc. Nothing is simple. It has Win.8 so as soon as I fired her up, she wanted to be updated to Win 10. Ok made sense my PC is Win 10 so I thought I’ll just do the upgrade. An hour later, I was still waiting for the upgrade to finish and do reinstall etc.

Time for seasons to change, clock kept ticking away, I wasn’t getting to my “work”.. Oh did I mention that one of the reason’s the PC was being fixed, was that Norton had disappeared off my machine.. and weird things kept happening in almost all the programs.
When I tried to used google on the laptop (my fav search engine and where I got my mail etc.) (Norton works on the laptop) a BIG warning with red X dangerous do not open, and of course it just wouldn’t let me use it. hmmm how else to get my mail, the icon that the tech had put on when my laptop was set up, was deemed an enemy. I tried all kinds of ways to access it and all were blocked.

By now my creativity level had dropped significantly, the cobwebs in the gray matter were getting tangled. Oh look, hello I think it is all updated and ready to go.. Look Look, see Jane run….no icon for my mail, and there doesn’t appear to be a browser.

I am now ready for the blotter, a small corner will be fine. Really it was time to tune out.. and forget that the internet age is even in my office. I thought I should get out my craft supplies and make a card. Certainly I was not in sync with my technology. Finally thru a virtual connection, I got a link to download Internet Explorer.

Needless to say.. it was a worn and weary little doll who wen to bed last night. I thought I would summarize this experience with a Snoopy cartoon I found through another blogger.

Thanks for listening, it always helps to be able to babble to friends.

We have all passed old abandoned buildings such as this one. Even in residentail areas now, you can often find a home that just no one seems to want to live in. There is a feeling that hangs around the place, making it very uninviting. A recent experience had me visiting a well known teaching hospital. From the outside it looks big, modern, and for an institution, one could even push the envelope a little and say … it was welcoming in a cold clinical kind of way. It seems these days that there is always constrution going on .. trying to make room for the many patients needing beds or care, either In-patient, or out-patient.
This picture was found on the businessinsider.com Picture was taken by photographer Christopher Payne when he visited North Brother Island a 13 acres island between the Bronx and Ricker’s Island, the building was abandoned in 1963. It had once provided housing for World War II veterans previously it had been a hospital for those quarantined with contagious diseases…When he visited Payne had hoped to find buildings completely intact what he found was ruins. He told Business Insider “It looked like it had been abandoned for a century”
Has the world changed .. have you been in a hospital room lately. We don’t often think of hospitals until we end up in one. Trust me, you should be thinking about your life, your health, and how you want to stay healthy and out of a hospital. you can go in not feeling too well, and come out even sicker
In every city, small town, even a village, there is a park. A place to get out and enjoy nature. At this time of year, if you live in parts of the world where the fall season is a riot of colour, one of the best medicines, for feeling good, is to get out and enjoy a day in the country, or walking a park trail Wake up to the natural wonders we are surrounded by.
NY city .. a city known for its concrete and high density population, yet, it still makes room for places like this. quiet spots where you can escape daily pressures of life. Such places are everywhere, even our own backyards. The trick is to take the time, to enjoy them. You owe it to yourself, and your loved ones, to stay grounded in nature, to be alive with the joys of life, spurring you on….October is when Canadians celebrate Thanksgiving. Give appreciation for the bounty of goodness in your life….Believe that abundance is yours. Wake up to possibilities of a healthy life. Make this Thanksgiving, the first one of many.

October is a month where we harvest our past, and move into a new beginning
Abandoned or forgotten, is there a difference…
On the 11th of each month, we in PL (Perfect Liberty) celebrate Ancestors Day,
with a special ceremony. Through this ceremony, we express our gratitude
for the love and virtues of our ancestors, asking that we ourselves, continue
to grow and learn to bring love and understanding to others in the world around us.
By now, most of you know I love to discover an old abandoned vehicle, and capture it
to enjoy and add to my Pinterest board, the neighbours I’m sure appreciate that i don’t
bring them home to display on the front lawn, or the back forty. Not all of them are left to the elements
some like the one above have been lovingly restored, and are happily on the road again.
We can do that with an object, but with a human heart, no……
Once the love and laughter is gone, and the body fails to carry on
we are left with an empty space, all that will remain is a memory in its place
Appreciate and love .. today…
In expressing appreciation to God in our daily lives, with sincerity (makoto)
we renew our determination to follow and practice a way of life that ensures
our memories and our quality of life in the moment, will be good ones.
Seek to retain focus in your faith and connection with God
Always – Forever

Does a green door mean anything to you? Do you know how many green doors you have passed through in your day? Probably not. We go through a lot of doors, some more colorful than others. Some we close behind us and others are left open. A friend recently closed a door on me, the friend decided they no longer wanted to be friends. Actually if I think back, I’ve probably had a few doors closed on me -smiles – what is the saying, you can please some people some time but not all people, all the time. Something like that.
What happens when a door closes. Nothing really, of course I guess it depends on what side of the door you are on, what view you will have, but the reality is, the door is closed. You didn’t close it, but it is closed non-the-less. In my earlier years I guess I would have tried to reopen the door, I no longer feel the need to do that. I’ve come to respect that if someone decides to close a door, it is their decision, and I respect that. It doesn’t change my feelings, or my caring, because when I give or love, I do so willingly and from my heart. There are no regrets when love is pure and true.
In PL(Perfect Liberty) we learn practical guidelines for living our daily lives. These principles assist us in practicing the PL 21 Precepts. The 1st Precept is …..Life is Art…. The 1st Principle …. I will live paying careful attention, putting Makoto (sincerity) into all I say and do.
Living harmoniously with the Universe is really about being in the moment and being mindful in all we say and do. Doors whether open or closed are a beautiful reminder of movement from then to now. I like green because it is the color of growth and new beginnings.
Principle #4 – I will live with the spirit of Misasage (Devotion) working for the happiness of others.
I wish you all a very good day, whatever it is your decide to do, keep at it, don’t give up until you have accomplished what you started.
Life is here for us to enjoy and to be lived. All things come to fruition once the heart (content) and the object (form) are in accord with one another, you will be blessed with wonderful results.
The past stands proud – the present brings new life.

This picture* was taken somewhere along the Central Coast, farmland, ocean, ocean, farmland with some nice mountains thrown in along the way for good measure. I talk a lot about quiet, contemplation and the living life as it it presented to you. Being unique each and every one of us, experiences life in a different way. No matter how grown up I get,I never cease to be amazed at how much I am touched by another human beings courage, or determination in the face of challenging news or obstacles that are put in their paths.
No matter how difficult today seems, when you have that piercing moment of stabbing pain and doubt, remember that it is only a passing segment in you life, and that tomorrow will be another day. Actually in an hours time, this moment will be part of history.
LOL how often of late do I hear, darn I forgot what I came in to do, or I know I left my glasses somewhere, for me its my car keys, they turn up, inanimate objects get put down, or left behind when something new (thought/phone call/distraction) comes along.
In PL, there is a Principle that I have to work hard at everyday to do my best to live in this way. It is PL Principle #2, I will not have complaints about others, matters, nor the weather. Rather I will always be creative and will look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions. Principle #6 – I will not be stubborn, being captured by my own thoughts. There are only 21 principles in PL (Perfect Liberty) but by golly, each one packs a mitt full of lessons to work on … My challenge every day is to try and bring each one into my life as my journey through the day progresses.
It helps me to be reminded to leave the past in the past, and to remember that what is important is what I am doing right now, this very moment. ( I smile thinking of you as I write this knowing that you will be reading my words sometime later today.) A friend asked me who I am speaking to when I get personal … I’m speaking to each and ever pair of eyes that wander through my thoughts with me. I feel very blessed to have met you through this blog. And believe me when I say that I appreciate each and everyone of you, I’ll never tire of our friendship, it will change, it will flow, and it will grow. That is what life is all about.
WE are not inanimate objects, we are a life form, part of the Universe, we survive and regroup, we are like the moss and the lush green forest that reclaims what time forgets. It is a slow process, but the growth is life. Life is beautiful in all its stages.
