The Flash of Inspiration Is a Gift From GodI

PL Teaching for Day 22 >The Flash of Inspiration Is a Gift From God <    When something suddenly clicks or when a great idea suddenly pops into your head, it is actually not something you have control over.  Understand that this is wisdom given to you by God.  The Flash of Inspiration is a Gift From God.

As an artist/writer, I can’t tell you how often I have wanted to paint, sculpt or write something, get myself all set up and then “puff”  like a cloud of smoke what I thought I was going to do evaporates.  If I try to make it work, the results  are simply not to my liking, yes I may have an end product, but it does not “speak” to me. My first thought it that it should go into the waste bin.  For sure I am not prepared to show it around, or do a drum roll.  So I put it down and it disappears from my immediate thoughts.  If I’m in a persistent mood, I may start over, something inside of me wants to be expressed.  The desire is strong, and I feel the frustration well up  inside me, I know I have something to “say”…. but every time I try something I am dissatisfied with the results. Sound familiar?

When I “Let go and Let God”  allow myself to take a step back, and just allow my hands to work the clay, or if painting the colors and forms to take shape, an inner peace begins to happen, and I find myself humming, carried away by the moment.  I’m focused, I’m in a happy place.  I’ve learned to listen to the little voice inside of me that says, “OK, that’s enough”  I stop.. step back and with eyes of wonder I discover an “expression”  Sometimes I simply have no idea how I got the results that I did.  Ask  me to do another one, I couldn’t.  My “expressions” became a form of meditation for me.  It didn’t matter to me what anyone else thought about the results,  I was happy!    INSPIRATION IS A GIFT I really and truly believe that God is within and part of who we are. God is the tie that binds us all together.  We are ONE.

A member of the church send me links to some awesome figurative art, I share them with you and hope you  enjoy  them as much as I did.

May your day be blessed 100 fold.  =^_^=

Have the Courage to Take the First Step

if you are timid, you will never be able to break free and start something new.  Believe in yourself and take the first step.

Have the Courage to Take the First Step.  PL teaching for day 19

I thought I’d see what the hexagram 19 was in the I Ching   4 broken lines  over 2 solid lines. (Lin)

The two firm lines at the bottom of the hexagram in the positions of inspiration and self interest, create the arousing atmosphere of Promotion. They rule jointly and aggressively.  There is now a dynamic emphasis on inner growth.

Begin your endeavors in the company of those who share your enthusiasm.  Be certain that you are pursuing your goals.  Have the Courage to Take the First Step.

Always challenge Yourself With New Things

Always Challenge Yourself With New Things – PL teaching day 17

Life is interesting because we always encounter unknown or new situations that we have never experienced before.  don’t be afraid of failure and proactively challenge each new situation.  Always Challenge Yourself with New Things

When sitting with Rev. Goto today in his office, the rain was falling against the window, giving a steady staccato with various depths of sound as it hit  an overhang and then tumbled downward against the window pane.  It surprised me, and for a second or two it captured my attention.  Then we resumed our conversation, and the musical rain disappeared, my focus was on the  subject matter of our meeting.  My upcoming trip to Japan is a personal challenge for me.  The last time I flew was  several years ago, when I flew into Missoula, Montana.  I vowed I would never travel that distance again, certainly not over mountains in a plane and iffy weather.

That was then and this is now.  I will be in  Japan, (Headquarters Tondabayashi Osaka)  for the annual Founders’ Day Ceremony on August 1.  On this day hundreds of thousands of PL believers from the local churches in Japan, and from distant parts of the world, gather  to appreciate and pray to the First and Second Founders who are still working spiritually for the rapid realization of true world peace.  The ceremony will climax with an hour-long display of the world’s greatest fireworks, “The Art of PL Fireworks”.  How mind-blowing and awesome will that be.

Also on Founder’s Day, August 1, the annual Peace Tower Ceremony is held.  The spirits of all those who have died in war, regardless of race, religion or nationality are enshrined in the altar of the Peace Tower.  In this ceremony we console their spirit and pray for the everlasting peace of mankind.

Let’s Be in Tune With the Times

PL teaching day 16           Let’s Be in Tune With the Times   > We live in a world that is rapidly changing with the times.  Let’s continue to keep up with the evolving trends of society and strive to broaden our horizons. <

My husband and I drove to the other end of the city today to a huge parking lot, to check out the different  kinds of recreational vehicles that were on display. (Motor Homes, trailers, tents and the like)  we were told there were over 600 parked in the numbered lots. Golf carts drove visitors around, and carried refreshments from one end of the event to the other.  At one time, not all that long ago, the whole area was farm land, woodlands &  country fields. We drove out there using the “super highway”, gone were the cows grazing contentedly in the pastures, sheep nibbling their way along a stream, a farmer tending to his crop. Now littered basically every couple of miles is a big super center for shopping. with all the big box stores making their presence known.

This is a popular venue, it is a yearly event.  There were many couples there, all with an eye on what type of caravan would help chase a dream.  A pop up that can be set up near some babbling brook, or along a sandy beach. A motor home that can be driven to a destination that will provide a sun filled winter without snow.  So many possibilities.  While we explored and enjoyed the day, in the end, we came home to our little “nest” in the heart of the city and tucked the information away for another time.  Today is today, enjoy NOW.

Happiness & contentment is a treasured pearl within our own “Selves”  How we tend and cultivate this pearl, is how well we will deal with the changes in the world around us.  The teachings of Perfect Liberty, help us live an Artist Life.  ” The PL 21 Principles are the practical guidelines for our daily lives as PL members.  They assist us in practicing the PL 21 PRECEPTS   The 21 Principles are specific guidelines on how to live the PL WAY (an artistic life) and teach us how to reach a positive state of mind, so that we can express ourselves more harmoniously and joyfully.” (pg 12  PL Members’ Guide)

When we are at peace, we are “in Tune”     Let’s Be in Tune With the  Times

elation and relief

When I discovered this abandoned old car in the fields today, I thought of how even in the sad state it was in, it was rather appealing.  I thought of how it must have looked when it was new, & how it must have a lot of stories it could tell.  The artist who created this rusted clunker gave it character.  It isn’t just any old car, it is a car that has been detailed to look old, and then lovingly placed in the field so that it creates a picture for the eye to enjoy when  it is first spied. Drawing the viewer down into the field to get a closer look.

In Perfect Liberty one of the teachings is to help the seeker to enjoy not just what is seen, but to appreciate the components that brought the object to our attention.  When teaching I used to show the student a piece of left over 4×4 wood with a nail hammered into it, a screw half screwed in at an angle and a what not of sorts embedded on the other side.  The question to the student would be, “what do you see/feel when you take this object and hold it.  Because of the objects hammered, screwed and embedded it was not easy to hold.  Nor was it pretty.

Often the question left the student perplexed and curious at just what it was I wanted, or expected him/her to tell me.  what I was wanting was exactly what they were giving me, a reason to explain that what we see/feel is not always what is.  The wood, had history, it had begun as a seed many many years ago.  That seed to grow, had first to rot into the soil it was planted or dropped on.  It took many years to grow and in that time, it lived, we can only guess, a great number of lifetimes.  With many changes it eventually was cut down and parts of it became building lumber.  The piece we were holding, was discarded, only to be recycled into a teaching tool.  The nail and screw that now were part of it, they also had undergone many changes to become the objects we were seeing.

As a therapist, I know that visually the body can tell me one thing, but when I actually lay  hands on it, I will discover much much more.  Though the human may  tell me, “I’m fine, no really, there isn’t a problem”   yet my experience, my visual and physical exam will tell me volumes.

The first of the 21 Precepts in Perfect Liberty is LIFE IS ART .  Just that Precept alone, has so many teachings, so much power in it.  Every day we are given the opportunity to live an artistic life.  To look at the blank canvas before us, and to create something beautiful.  Remember that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  When something speaks to you,  stop, look deep and explore what it is saying, how is it speaking to you, and how does it make you feel.  Enjoy the moment,

The elation for me today was the joy of living in Perfect Liberty, waking with a smile on my face, and a prayer in my heart.  The relief was when the minister told me that I could write about PL the way I wanted to, in my words, because it is my opinion, my expression, and the heaviness that had been building slipped away. The church is a formal structure, it is a building, it is on a solid foundation, I am me, a believer, a writer, an artist and I want to continue to explore my faith with a writer’s “eye” and artist’s “feeling/touch”.  Like the wind I want to be ONE with the Universe, free to BE.
