Saying Goodbye

When someone we love – travels into the Universe – on wings of air so light, only his/her memory remains

I recently learned that a special friend, was dealt a blow that sent him reeling. His life was turned upside down with the news that his son (42 years old) was no longer of this world. I can only imagine that moment of reality that he, his wife and family had to live, was not only crushing but life changing.

Myself I learned of this news only the other day, I happened on him as he wandered on the street by his home, lost, fighting for control of his feelings. With each word that fell from his lips, I felt the raw pain, saw the fight within himself for control. I was walking one of my dogs, she became very quiet, attentive and with me, she quietly gave all her attention to his words, feelings and outpouring.

It is important in this lifetime of ours to never take for granted that everything will still be the same tomorrow. Life as we know it is fragile.

PL Precept # 18 Each moment is a turning point.

There are no words to express the sadness I feel when I think of my friend and his family, and no words that I can or could offer that would ease the pain of their loss.

What I can do .. is ask each and everyone of you who can, and would, to say a prayer for all in the world who are dealing with such pain and loss… Grief has to be lived… and each and every one of us, has had to deal with sorrow at some time in our lives. Prayer is a powerful tool. let us take a few minutes in our day, to say a prayer for all the families in this world who at this time are dealing with a situation that is difficult and hard to bare.. but live with it they must, till time helps ease the pain.

Today in the little bird garden, I asked each bird to carry a prayer into the skies.. that would carry love and healing energy to all who need it.

can you see the darling owl? Isn’t this just the cutest picture..

Every day brings new beginnings… today was no exception. It was my pleasure to meet a wandering photographer, who came over to say hello. When he showed me this precious picture, I was thrilled when he offered to share some of his creativity with us. Thank you Ed.. (Ed Hodgins)

Wednesday 10th

Fierce, loyal, I stand true

I gaze out into the day/night looking for you

Although I search the skies from far and wide

I never seem to ever get glimpse of you

Yet, I know you to be all around me

I draw strength through my roots from you

My branches reach up and are embraced by you

I feel you when you blow your cold icy breath against my bark

or bath me in your warmth when you shine your light on me

So, why this need to see you…. for I am…. because of you.

no more no less… for we are ONE

Q.

For the sake of others, society and world peace. Always live keeping in mind everything you do is for the sake of others, society and World Peace.

Found

Hmmmm .. these appeared on my desk…. I know they are for something or other, and that they insert into my PC thing on my desk. The fact that they had been taped so carefully to the top of the file cabinet next to me, means that I didn’t want to loose them. A puzzle to start the day. Oh look a word with two z’s in it. hmmmm can I use that in “Words with Friends” probably not, I don’t recall ever seeing more than one Z when I’ve been playing. I’m beginning to sound like a humming bird.

Because I found these two items, does that mean that they were lost?

Since my desk was moved, my light doesn’t work…. hummm was the cord somehow unplugged, or is the bulb broken??? Darn it could be “one of those days”

“”light bulb” I found a wireless keyboard the other day… I wondered then, how would I get it to work if I wanted to use it… hmmmm would one of these thing a-ma bobs… talk to the keyboard… I wonder….

I think… I will keep Precept #16 in my mind…. ALL THINGS PROGRESS AND DEVELOP

and if EACH MOMENT IS A TURNING POINT Precept #18 I will wait for Precept #19 BEGIN ONCE YOU PERCEIVE to deal with these two objects.

I ask you, is this a form of procrastination? or is it my mind being lazy?

Foot Prints

Like these footprints in the snow, what we do each day makes an impression that will last only as long as that moment in time allows. As we move forward in life continue to break new ground.

You can freely express yourself within the rules. Consider rules as a canvas on which to express your specialty artistically.

It is important to say “thank you”. Everything that appears in front of you is all material for you to improve yourself whether its food, people or things. Learn to accept everything, whether it is something you like or not.

This and that

wild turkey

The last couple of days I have seen wild turkeys out strolling, Yesterday I saw one crossing the road, I slowed to let it get across, it took its time, crossed over, went up over the side snow bank and on into the woods, as casual as you please. Where it entered the woods it was deep, his feet sunk in to the snow, but he just get trucking along. Not a care in the world. I stayed to watch him for awhile, it I wondered if another one would come out to meet him, but no he just sauntered further into the brush. Hope he had a good day.

ice step I chopped today at Dewberry

After my fall yesterday, I went back today with a shovel to dig out and make a step for people to use when going up and over the offending snowbank. It isn’t a masterpiece, but it is functional, and I had the pleasure of watching it being used before I left the site.

waiting and watching – the look out!

Having been very cold for the past couple of days, today when I arrived, the look out saw me coming and the calls went out, by the time I parked the crows were waiting in the trees for me to put out the grub. I still marvel at how they communicate with each other, and then when its time to “come and get it”… they seem to do it in an orderly fashion. There are a lot of them when its a full house.. Today there had to be 3, 4 dozen.. but they kept it orderly.. Truly amazing birds.. (hmmm do I sound a bit biased =^_^=)

I am very pleased to say that more and more I am meeting first time photographers not that they are new, but they have driven from away to come to Dewberry to see the Grosbeaks. The Grosbeaks are beautiful birds, I’m happy to see that they have a following. Seeing these people gather, cameras at the ready make me feel rather “proud”.. I smile to myself.. cuz I know that when I am on my own in the woods, the birds come out and share time with me.. I get to see them up close and personal without binoculars or a high powered lenses.

When I am asked why I go out every day, no matter the weather, there is only one answer, I want to spend time with the birds. No, I am not part of a group, I am on my own, it is my special time.. a time to unwind and re-energize my spirit. There is an energy and a peaceful state that happens, when I am able to simply BE, outdoors surrounded by my feather friends and the small woodland creatures that share the environment with me.

Don’t think “I Can’t” Begin by taking the first step, then you’ll be able to see what comes next and a path will open.

diamonds

There was a time when I collected diamonds, (jewelry) they were hard, cold, and sat in a box out of sight most of the time. I don’t know exactly when my “thinking” changed… somewhere along the line it did. I realized that the real “gems” were transitional, and were part of nature, the world that was all around me. In PL, we are all artists, our first Precept… #1 Life is Art. and the 2nd. one is “To lie is to express One’s Self”

PL Precept #7 Everything exists in relativity

The PL Precepts help us navigate through life.

Yakushima, Japan

Thought that since my world these past days has been wild, windy and very snow covered, i would share with you what is happening across the oceans in southern Japan. Different climate, weather, and habitation.

These moments caught in time where Anastasia was enjoying her explorations, were likely happening at the same time I was taking careful steps across an icy parking lot to feed the birds…

There is beauty all around us, we simply have to open our “eyes” to our surroundings. Be aware that while this is visual, the differences are also very present in our day to day attitudes, thoughts, and perceptions.

Let’s set higher goals and work to improve ourselves.

Let’s work towards our goals while keeping a clear vision of what we hope to achieve. your strong conviction and Makoto (sincere effort) will help drive you toward accomplishing what you set out to do.

Weka a new bird (for us)

saw this bird on Shirley’s FB page. What a character!

I was interested so I asked. LOL I was told about what a pest these birds can be and how loud and “many” they are. They are native to and live in NZ, so we won’t be visited by one soon… Thought I’d share this clip I found on the bird. It is called a Weka.

Be a person who can say ” I like it!” Find what moves you the most and express your appreciation.
