PL PRECEPT # 1 LIFE IS ART…

Strive to Overcome Obstacles by changing your mind-frame. Things don’t always go as planned When that happens, try changing how you look at the situation of how you are doing things. The outcome is in your hands.

Yesterday was a day trip to Montreal to pick up supplies had ordered. Yes I could have had it shipped, but then I would have missed a wonderful long visit with a cherished friend I had not visited with these past months, due to “circumstances” Plus in Montreal at the shop itself, I got to see the owner and friend, who has been working very hard to keep us (her clients and friends) all in the loop of her activities in the stores, She just never stopped, bringing in the supplies we need and want. Even taping little workshops and showing us all the goodies that were there for us to ponder on.

She looked out for us, and now we are ensuring that she gets our support with the reopening of her shop .. still in a limited phase.. BUT people, Scrapbook Centrale is open, 7 days a week. check with Natalie for hours.. and appointments are still best. The doorbell kept ringing the whole time we were there. Her shop is a goldmine of paper art supplies that we can find no where else within miles.. Not under one roof.

English and French, check out her website …..

In the same plaza there is a pasta restaurant that you might want to try, if you like fresh pasta, homemade there, the pasta and their sauces. it is an unassuming plaza restaurant. We almost passed it by when we first saw it, now we drive anywhere near, and that is our choice place to eat. To the right of the Jean Coutu (pharmacy)

Every day is special, but when you get to spend time with a friend, it makes for an extra special day. I was one tired fortune cookie when I got home. my little fortune read.. Time for sleep.

Today, is another day… I welcome whatever comes my way. Have a grand day everyone… I send you all the warmest and brightest wishes -filled with love and colourful butterflies of hope.

August 15. forest wonders

the tree that was

The story teller in me, found a tree stump one day in a small forest setting nestled off a well trod trail. Not this one, but one similar. I was so taken with the setting that a whole story emerged about a wee family of forest folk who lived nearby and used the stump as their outlook. They would come out during the day, hike up the base of it, then stroll the “high grounds” enjoying the view of their little dens and glens.

I didn’t have the time this day to stop and really have a proper look around. Could this be where the wee creatures who live within the ferns and wild flowers, sit out on warm days.. to catch the rays of the sun, and visit with passers by. And what wee ones would they be?

can you feel the eyes hiding from sight, watching you

The whole area was full of life, birds, crickets, butterflies, ants, mice, chipmunks, the activity was alive with sounds … all blended in to form a natural melody that harmonized and weaved into a calming ambiance. It is a world of wonder like no other.

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the point of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium.

stand still.. look around.. stay still….

a meditation in green

I started out for one place, was in the wrong lane, ended up in a totally different direction, and smack dab to the entrance (parking lot) for the Larose Forest.

Was I dressed for a hike through the forest trails, no. Being the trouper I am, I decided to hike down one of the trails to get some pictures. Hot, was it hot… yes, but walking along under the canopy of the trees, there was a breeze.

My day was planned out for me by a higher being. I would not have started out to visit the Larose Forest on a day when temperatures were going to give us a scorching heat, with a high humidity factor thrown in. But I end the day with gratitude in my heart. I had a lovely day, it was a productive day, the myriads of greens, and earthy tones, was a palette that not only pleased the eye, but soothed a weary “soul”

Live in the moment. Whether you are walking, having a conversation, or having a good time, it is important to be fully engaged. Remember to live in the “now”

Good morning everyone! Another day of clear blue skies, white clouds and whoopeee.. less humidity. It is a gorgeous day, and its only beginning. Yippee Kiii Aye…..

With the rain we had, the vegetation out back grew like crazy. Yesterday I donned rubber gloves and braved the overgrown vines. Pulled, ripped and yanked.. then I swept, up the dead seed pods and pulled and yanked some more. Have to admit.. I didn’t groan, moan or grumble. (feeling a bit smug actually hummed)

Are you wondering how I felt later in the day…. YES I felt a tad worn and ready to chill. No guilt when I sat down to watch a taped Agatha Raisin.

Always applaud others. When you can be genuinely happy for others, you yourself will be blessed and you can experience a deeper sense of happiness.

Yesterday, I forgot to take my medication. ?? How did I manage that? No excuse really, I came home, was tired… thought only of having a bite and then going to bed.

Being a diabetic when I took my reading this morning, I was surprised to see how high my number was considering it has been so good. (light bulb moment) I did not remember to take my medication and insulin before going to bed.

In PL. we are reminded to be aware of each moment, to pay careful attention to what we say and do. Last night, I was more focused on my goal, of getting to bed. So this morning, I see the results of inattention. I will try to do better today.

In PL, we refer to such slips.. as “lazy mind”.. PL Principle # 12 I will get up pleasantly in the mornings.. So saying, I will tuck this little wisdom in my pocket and get on with my day.

I will not have complaints about others, matters nor the weather. Rather I will always be creative and look for shortcomings in my own thinking and actions.

…it is that brief moment which unfolds before the soul… the chronicles of time, and reveals to the eyes… the deeds of the night.

…and the works of conscience. It opens Eternity’s secret of the future.

The beauty of life.. Kahlil Gibran

I’ve used his text, from his book The Beauty of life… in a different context, but if you will reflect.. we take what once was perhaps not beautiful, but a functional, and attractive building … put up signs, then go away and just ignore it.

how is it, that we find this so easy to do

There is always a cause behind every result. Good things and bad things can all be traced back to the cause. Once you discover why things turned out a certain way, your outlook will change.

7th day, 7th month

To many 7 is a lucky number. There are numerologist that believe 7 is so perfect and powerful that it represents a connection to the Universe. It is usually very positive, ie. happiness, renewal and perfection. 7 = heaven,

Another definition of 7 in numerology, is that 7 stands for both deep and wise. Asking questions, researching, listening, and sensing are all special skills that 7 uses in its search for awareness.

Here we are today is the 7th. day of the 7th month.! It is said and I lean towards this, that number 7 leans more towards an intellectual approach to life, rather than an emotional one. Being a Virgo, I like it can be an analytical number, it enjoys gathering and filtering information to find an answer. or answers. =^_^= Powerful intuition, you bet!

Take on the task even though you are busy. You are busy because you are needed. Actively, positively and creatively juggle your time to fit the new task in.

Saskatoon service berry

The gift. Shortly after nine last night, there was a light tap o my back door. The dogs didn’t make a huge fuss.. still, I was hesitant. The top picture is of my Saskatoon serviceberry tree that I took, wht, maybe a couple of weeks ago. It seems the two young lads from across the street, came over with a ladder and harvested what they could from the tree. It was a gift from them to me. How lovely is that! My rascally dogs, had to have known, they alert me to anyone, who sets foot on the property.

The berries for those of you who have not tasted this delightful fruit, is unique, sweet looks like a blueberry but it has more of an apple/asian pear almond like nuttiness. the scientific anme is Amelanchier ainifolia I love the berries and had planted this one as soon as we bought here.(Ontario)

Check out all the nutrients, its profile is similar to the content of blueberries.

Needless to say, I was delighted, what a lovely gesture, and a kindness that added to my already wonderful day!

Your smile energizes the people around you. A smile has the ability to put others at east and give them energy. Strive to be the first to offer a smile each day to those around you.
