Monday

It is the moment you wake up and realize it isn’t a dream – there is a camera in your face – you are not alone – someone has intruded into your personal space. Geeesh…

The best timing is when you notice. When you notice something, it is God sending you a message. Act right away so you don’t miss good timing.

Sunday Silence

There is a hush … a quiet that reaches in and stills the restless mind.

No matter how hard you try to foresee the future, you really don’t know how things will turn out. Do your best and see how it plays out. Trust in your instinct, take action without thinking too hard.

Thursday door

Life is fragile … a moment comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Today was December 1st. and at the PL church we had a 10 o’clock ceremony (every 1st of the month) where we pray for world Peace and dedicate ourselves to live as peaceful human beings in our own worlds. On the 11th. we have a ceremony to express our gratitude and appreciation for the love and virtues of our ancestors … asking for their protection and guidance so we can continue to live the PL Way.

The church is a building where we come together to pray and share the values and the philosophy of the teachings. Without people it would an empty building, it is the people who come to share in community that makes it a special play to be.

When I come up to and walk through the doors into the church, there is an immediate calm and a sense of “quiet comfort” … the doors our symbolic of “passage”… they are not ornate, but strong& sturdy, their presence give a sense of “security”… when we enter, we pass through from “the outer world” to the “spiritual” world of our true “selves”

To visit and explore the world of doors, please visit Dan’s No Facilities site, where other “door lovers” have posted their door(s) for you to appreciate and enjoy. https://nofacilities.com/2022/12/01/barns-and-news/

I did something different…

Aggghhh I did something today that I’ve never done before.. I intentionally climbed over a barrier that was put there to prevent people from going on the boardwalk. I knew the risk.. I was told, the sign was there to protect the people responsible for the conservation area. Anyone who goes beyond the barriers is doing so at their own peril….. the weather has been cold but so far there is no snow and ice on the boardwalk, I had my walking stick… big waterproof boots … and I knew I would be extremely careful.

Can one capture “cold” I tried…the ice is forming on the water, it is still open in some areas… I have walked the trail in the winter before, I’m not sure why they have shut it down this winter. I will enquire. For sure.. I had the place to myself.. only met someone when I was on the trail that leads back to the parking area.

I wanted to be alone. I wanted to experience the quiet and the complete solitude of being in the open space of the bog that would be devoid of other humans. I wanted to hear my own thoughts, to listen to the distant sounds of the world happening around me, but not near me. My wish was granted.

Are you overdoing things? Not only do you harm yourself when you overdo things, but you may be imposing on others as well.

Black Friday?

I have been rereading Ishmael -an adventure of the mind and spirit by Daniel Quinn. Reading something that you previously came across YearS ago… makes for interesting observations. The book came out in 1992. Once I started to peruse the book, I remembered how I had reacted to it the first time I came across it. I grew up on Alan Watts, The prophet Kahlil Gibran, and as many books I could find on the Tao. Having a gorilla for a mentor is something new to contemplate now that I am in my “senior” years.

Black Friday is no longer something that happens on one day after a holiday, we have been bombarded with Black Friday sales now for days, weeks even. There is a huge focus on commercialism, spend, spend, buy, buy.

The other book that is on my reading list at the moment is Sophie’s World. This is a novel about the history of philosophy by Jostein Gaarder It was translated and copywritten in 1994 by Paulette Moller, hmmm you say, kinda interesting reading at this tender age… yes… it has given me some food for though BECAUSE I am past my formative years, I have lived many lifetimes now… and I realized as I was reading the pages of these books that my thought process and how I “see” life is pretty much etched into my daily living.

The picture on the right is how I digest, reflect and regroup my thoughts when I am processing my days/nights. The picture on the left with the gorilla is “another time/place” when I was more “open” to the energy and thought process of others/and circumstances.

I can really relate to the ambiance and storyline of Sophie’s world because the writer has her finding her own “secret den” where she can go and process her thoughts. In both books, the characters are looking for answers, they are filled with wonder and are like sponges taking in information and trying to make sense of the world as it is seen by them…

In Canada we had our Thanksgiving in October, yesterday was thanksgiving in the United States, in PL we celebrate and have special service each month on the 21st. It is a time to remember, and express our gratitude for the blessings in our lives, and each 11th of the month we have a service to honour and pay tribute to our ancestors. Because our lives are so closely tied with our neighbours in the States, we spend a lot of time hearing about and seeing what Thanksgiving is in both Canada and the United States.

What dominated the airwaves these past weeks/months has been sports, shopping, politics, and more shopping and sports. AND lets not forget all the hallmark movies and storylines about that special love that is more storybook than anything else that happens from now till after Christmas.

How real do most of us deal with life on a day to day basis.???

Today’s calendar.. ( which I find interesting for Black Friday reading )

Use money and things usefully and enthusiastically. Money and things are materials for self expression. Use them joyfully with appreciation

If you have thoughts on this post, please share them with me. Am I too vague? Am I seeing incongruity were there is none.?

day of gratitude

This was the tree limbs back in early 2021, below is what is left.

Below is how the feeding area looks now… I’ve since changed a couple of the feeders but you can see the difference and the setting. (a beautiful wild turkey, I miss them.. they have gone further into the woods for the winter… )

For your info…. Mer Bleue has closed the board walk, it has been blocked off… so has the boardwalk at P6 off Moodie.. At Mer Bleue we are now hosting Evening Grosbeaks, and joy of happiness… they are at P23 too. (Dewberry)…. today was a real winner, I got both the red bellied woodpeckers and the grosbeaks while I was there filling the feeders.. bonus the crackle dropped in.

To everyone celebrating Thanksgiving today… Enjoy!

Be cheerful and friendly with those around you. Other people can sense how you are feeling … so, be cheerful.

cloudy overcast

Some days, the sun tries to shine through, but… no matter how hard it tries, we can see it, but the clouds simply cast their presence in a way that the day remains in shadows.

When you get stuck, take a step back. When you are able to see things objectively, your viewpoint will change and you will receive new wisdom.

I’m late….

Some days we just need more time…Like what is the rush….

Be in tune with the feelings of others. Let’s start by trying to understand other peoples’ feelings.
