Holiday wishes, magical scenery, toy trains that can be ridden, candy canes and white sparkling snow everywhere. In a virtual world there is no limit to the visual wonders that are presented to us to explore and delight in. The artist has no boundaries.. the weather conditions don’t deter his/her creativity. As a member of the virtual community I and millions of other creative souls get to wander and enjoy all the magic of someone else’s imagination and creative talents. A reminder to one and all…. there is always another human behind the avatar. Be kind, share a smile… especially to new comers who likely are completely baffled by the “world” they are experiencing.

There is something special about a smile that reaches the eyes… When you pass someone and they catch your eye, smile and say…”hi.. have a good day”…. or simply smile, nod and say “good morning/good day” It goes a long way… it can brighten a day.

Raising money for charity.. everyone always joins in…This event was Relay for Life.. there are a lot of cancer survivors who pay back… join us in a good cause. there are many people who at this time of year need an extra bit of cheer. Just because you see a happy exterior does not mean there is not a heart needing a hug … Sometimes the only company someone gets is sharing time with someone else that is “house bound”, alone, without family, or simply… on his/her own, over the festive season.

Someone wrote on his/her profile they preferred to take the roads less traveled. This morning as I took my time driving to the feeders, I revelled in the serenity of the road I was on. There is something to be said about going somewhere early in the day, before many are out and about (it was after all a Saturday )

I wonder who is happier . me when I see the birds waiting for me to clear the snow and open my trunk to access the seed/suet, or the birds. They sing and begin to fly to the feeders, some come directly to me and land on my scoop with the feed, no longer shy they just dive in and fly away with their prize.

Help the people around you smile more. Always strive to make those around you smile. That will bring you joy too.

flashback

With the snow still falling… I wanted to hear the water rushing, see it happily gurgling along… I have not seen this much snow this early in December in awhile. Everyone wishing for a white Xmas will be happy…. so will the X country skier’s and snowshoes trekkers/ hikers… it is pretty, I’ll give it that. Hopefully the roads will be plowed. The forecasters are still calling for snow warning….

Start today with a fresh outlook. Even though people and situations may look the same, they are constantly changing. Start each day with a fresh mind.

Falling snow

This fell in a very short period of time. The forecast is it will continue to fall all day in huge amounts. They are calling it a mammoth storm. Temperatures are around 30 degrees F. and are aging to stay in that range for the day. I am considering my options… Appointment for winter snow tires is next week.

This wild turkey surprised me by hopping up to the branch that I had just buttered with the suet the woodpeckers and smaller birds love. He was not going to be left out. It was high off the ground, I have to stretch to butter the crevice, but that was not a problem.. I turned and there he was we were face to face.

I came home to find that Jim (Jim Robertson) had sent me a link to his web page. https://photo-stories.myportfolio.com/dewberry-trail-feeders … the video is a 3 minute video he put together from his visits to Dewberry (Nature trail- conservation area) in Ottawa, Canada.

You have all heard me go on about my morning outings. This is one of the locations I go, the other one is at Mer Bleue. Both are NCC Conservation area.

Please if you have time, visit Jim’s website, he has the most wonderful photographs that will take you on a visual journey through the many places he has visited. I delighted in his pictures of the birds that I have gotten to know “intimately”… (I see daily) and interact with. I often get asked about the feeders, with Jim’s video.. you will see where I “hang out” and spend endless hours just “BEING” in nature and with the birds and assorted wildlife that come to visit.

It’s easier to adapt to something when we find it interesting. No matter how enjoyable a situation is, a slight change in our attitude can make it boring. Let’s face any situation with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Friday

After the big storm we had last spring, I went in search of this ancient tree, it was still standing, but had lost some of its upper limbs. These past few days it has been so busy for me, that when I look in the mirror.. I see a reflection (kind of) looking back at me that reminds me of this tree trunk. LOL.. every line, every crevice tells a story. (yes I have a vivid imagination!) …. Just saying… when morning comes and you wake up wondering how long it will be before you can reclaim your spot in bed…

It is a busy month. Let’s ALL take a moment in the day to reflect on what this month is all about. Not tinsel and sparkle.. but JOY and GRATITUDE, Peace on Earth, Goodwill…..

Express yourself clearly so others can understand you. when you can’t communicate clearly, it can lead to problems. Always express yourself carefully to avoid any misunderstandings.

Thank you Universe… I would be so lost without my friends… If my friend hadn’t skyped me I would still be tucked in my bed .. totally unaware that I was and will be late late late…. Now that I’m late… what can I do but accept the fact.. and deal with it.

Think “now is the time” instead of “it’s no use now” Don’t give up by thinking it’s too late. Tell yourself that there is more that can be done.
