come away with me

Be careful about saying “it’s probably good enough” Wholeheartedly do what you notice, when and how you notice it.

Some days, when the skies are the clearest of blues, the feathered clouds wisps of angel white, the trees and surrounding vegetation are an array of, every shade of blue/green/yellow, AND the air is filled with the fresh lavender like scent of new growth -it is nothing short of perfection. Today I walked through the most heavenly scents – I looked for lavender, lily of the valley/ lilacs….. saw only the bog and the plants growing there, but ohhhh the intoxicating aromas were “mind blowing” I would have loved to have had someone with me who could identify what it was that I was enjoying so much. (one plant did look like lavender??)

You couldn’t always see them, but you heard them, the geese were in great numbers today..

Let’s respond clearly. giving a proper response shows consideration towards others.

Thursday Doors

Doors are closed all over the city, not just in Ottawa, but in small towns, villages and along the highways .. where friends would meet and enjoy the social activity of sharing and engaging with a friend(s).

Where ever you are, you are coping with the changes happening around us, some places life is returning to some form of normal, but that is not everywhere. We are being subjected to to a lot of change, discontent, anxieties, frustrations..

Some restaurants are getting by with take out, and home deliveries. BUT, that is only some restaurants, and often it means they are barely getting by. One observation has been that to many eating out, going to a restaurant, just for a coffee was the highlight of the day, a gathering place, and a place to touch base with others who like you were /are just passing through.

It’s okay to think “this is where it starts” There is always a turning point, It’s important what you do from now on.

Truly, I had good intentions. I saw the parking lot was empty, and decided to try this trail.. I’ve never been interested it is usually full of cars, its a favourite of walkers, runners and families on day walks with children. There were empty feeders along the way, the one above, had remnants of seeds so there was a squirrel and two doves cleaning up on the ground below it. Two black birds had been there, but flew away when I approached.

You don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going. Babies don’t walk the first time they try.

following the trail

Pictures of some of the “ladies” that were on display today… the vegetation is growing in leaps and bounds, won’t be long and the road will have reduced by half. It (vegetation) is coming in on both sides.

I’ll do it later. No, I’ll do it now. To make progress, do anything while its still fresh.

Today’s visit was longer than I expected it to be. I found that the trails I would have or had been taking, were not that inviting. With all the new growth, they were dark, and from a distance, I could hear the hum of mosquitos. Not inviting. I sprayed on the repellent and took off down the paved road. Thought I’d try to find the green gate on my own. Not that it would be difficult, it was just a matter of walking till I came upon it.

The spine that I should you pictures of in previous blog.. was at one time found just in, beyond the gate. Its been weeks now since the first “hiker/walker” found it… I doubted it would still be there, still I decided to venture in beyond the gate.

this was what I was hoping to find. I didn’t see any trace of it.

What I did encounter was an immediate invasion of cannibal minded mosquitos. They were everywhere, swarming around my head, trying to bit through my sleeves.. Not pretty. When I left the car I thought to bring my “Off”.. but I didn’t.. obviously my protection I had sprayed on when started out, was not going to hold these attackers off. I made a quick exit back to the open road.

The new tracker app that a friend suggested I put on my phone, has been fun, it tells me how many miles and steps I do. I’m happy that with each outing I’m getting better, and able to go just that little bit further without huffing and puffing! LOL there is hope for me yet!!

Take care everyone, enjoy whatever it is you are embarking on….

and BE HAPPY!!!

so near yet so far

Oh say can you see…………………. sigh….. so rich with vaccines, and we can’t get across to access what is there for the taking. I heard that in some places they are offering incentives of free vaccines if you come to visit. All very tempting except … it is no easy task to get over there to do so.

I got to the St. Lawrence by way of a visit to Sarsaparilla Trail in the west end. I brought a friend who had not been in awhile, she had not met Gisele before.. Gisele bless her little feathered heart was there… and gladly mooned us when I greeted her.

You can just see the young duck swimming away after having graced us with his presence for a brief visit. It was quiet today, there was another male duck and a turtle close to the viewing platform.

The drive along the St. Lawrence is such a pretty drive, there were not too many cars. At Cardinal, I stopped to allow for us to get out and stretch the legs.. there were people but the picnic tables and BBQs were all vacant of people, there were people along the inner canal fishing.. along the bank.. aside from that, it was also very quiet.

We got take out at McDonalds then drove down to the pier to eat. Usually there would be boats going back and forth in the channel, today except for one or two motor boats, the waters were void of “traffic”

what can I say,, she is a show off..
smile and the world smiles with you

Holiday Monday

there is a hush and a quiet beauty when there is a blanket of snow
now with the melt, there is new growth, the mating calls of the birds and mosquitos
yes, each season has a reason
even in Tennessee, the water’s clear and running
the mountains are teeming with wild life and adventure under clear blue skies
Tennessee chickens bathe in the heat and sunshine
hmmm where do I want to be today….
yeah, I think so…

With one thought “The world” will change. Changing your way of thinking will make a difference on how you perceive the world.

Bates Island

I cannot remember the last time I was on Bates Island. Likely years and years and years. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was not too busy, although there were a couple of inconsiderate persons who parked blocking the one way road on one end of the island. I wondered if there had been a sign and I missed it that this was a special picnic day for the geese and ducks. They were everywhere. Even the gulls were around, all were intent on feasting on whatever delicacies they could find.

There were a lot of proud parents watching their young playing and eating, I took care to keep my distance. One couple thought to sit by the water’s edge and enjoy a small picnic lunch.. No Way, the geese came at them from both directions, they finally got up and moved to one of the picnic tables away from the patrolling geese. In the last photo there are several babies under the greenery, I tried to get a picture of the one baby who was trying to walk up the tree, but of course, only got so far and toppled down. Mother stood closely by.

There were no kayaks in the rapids, it wasn’t too hot yet, temperatures are going to be high today, but there was a fog/smog in the air.. It will be overcast most of the day.

thru the mist off in the distance you can see downtown Ottawa and the watch tower on the grounds of Parliament.

View your difficulties as a chance to make rapid progress. You grow by overcoming the obstacles in front of you, one by one. Look at your problems as opportunities for growth and make the best of your situation.

I am an abstract artist, I love texture, form, and how everything in life intertwines, when I paint, I enjoy working with acrylic and other materials that I can sculpt as well as shape, with whatever tool I am working with. Life is a series of exchanges with other people and energies I meet along the way and during the day. When I engage I listen with every fiber of my being. I drink in all that is presented to me. Challenges are opportunities… I absorb and digest and later, I reflect and meditate. The world is dynamic and ever changing, sometimes there is just too much activity, and it is only hours or days later when something will reappear in my “preview” window …

This morning reading another blogger’s sharing, I saw his wonderful capture of birds he’d posted.. the yellow reminded me that while I was walking yesterday in what I termed mosquito alley, a bird flew past me, it was a hit and run, it came out of the wooded area, across my path just over my head and into the trees on the other side, it happened in seconds. What struck me was that it appeared to be dark with yellow under its wings. It all happened so fast. Not the dark ” orange” of a robin more of a ripening banana. With all that happened with the rest of my day, I lost that moment, thanks Tim for bringing it back to me.

They had their appointments with the Vet yesterday, with social distancing, they get to go in for their check up, parent gets to stay in car in parking lot, or go home till you are called to come pick them up. Velcro is 13, I expected I would get a call about his growths, his teeth, his over all condition.. but I wasn’t ready for a call about Keeper’s condition. She had a bit of a procedure, requiring a sedative be used.. (unexpected) her heart has a murmur that should be monitored, and her thyroid had enlarged, she needs to go back on medication, which will be ongoing etc. Dr. M did her first, so I had all he had to say about her health to take in, when I got a second call about Velcro.. not only is his hearing going, he has cataracts that have progressed to approx. 50%. So much to take in. It was overwhelming.

NOW here is where you come in…. if any one has had experience or know of what I’m going to say next, I would appreciate hearing from you. The Vet wants to put Velcro on an eye drop that has had very good results in stopping further growth and in some cases, creating shrinkage of the cataracts. In one case (his personal experience with another client) the cataract disappeared completely. Taken back, I asked how come if there was such a medication it wasn’t used with humans…. he replied that it is not approved in Canada, but is used in other countries. The cost on top of everything else was not something I could do yesterday, and I wanted to ask for opinions??????

I did call my wonderful breeder friends, (where both Velcro and Keeper come from) and they will also look into this for me.. Is anyone, out there got information to share with me on this subject?

I am headed for the church this morning, and I will pray for guidance – I love and appreciate the blessing of having these two precious energies in my life… last night we were all exhausted from the days events. It was an early night!

It is Friday everyone… in Canada we are heading into a long week-end. The garden centers are open, this is the time when everyone would be opening up their cottages, here in the city we would be sprucing up our gardens, temperatures are going into the 80’s.. and here we will have high humidity to go with it.. groan.. lots of inside for me. I wilt in the heat.

be safe, be happy!

Church service on Sunday 10: a.m.

mosquito alley

My first visit. I drive by all the time, thought today I’d actually stop and see what it was. Its a straight path, It goes for a distance, I realize now how come they show signs of horseback riding and bikes. I encountered bikers on the path. Not my kind of place… at least for the moment, I’m not drawn to the place.. its pretty I guess, but too straight, it is basically an unpaved road, an actual road cuts through it.. you have to stop, wait for traffic to go by.. then you cross over and go on another part of a trail, that looks just like this one.

If you are a cyclist, or a runner, this would be a great place to visit. There is parking although not a ton of it. No facilities that I saw.. not off Anderson anyway.

You are you, others are others. You have have your own way of doing things, and others have their way of doing things. don’t worry about what other people will say. Simply take care of the task at hand.
