What a hoot. My whole theme this year was action figures and personalities from the world of adventure and super powers. I had not said a word about what I was doing.. so imagine my surprise and delight when I opened my nephews gift to find Pennywise staring back at me. You all know how in September I start gearing up for my creative month of October.. my FUN month. The unexpected is always such a “wow”.
If Santa came your way overnight, and was anywhere where the rain was, he would have been one wet Santa. The rain princess was not happy about having to perform “off season” her performance, at least here in this area, was full all out staccato, it was as if she said, “you want rain, I’ll give you rain” and then just lashed out.
This morning all is calm, not bright, but quiet and very wet. Still very mild too. What I noticed was that the little evergreen that has been sitting there all summer just “sitting”.. seems to have sprouted approx. 12 inches. I hadn’t noticed before. Could be because much of the accumulated snow has been washed away. Whatever, she looks happier. She obviously loved the rain, its perked her up.
From one happy little tree at our house, to everyone out there who is sharing this moment with us, we wish you a very happy and merry Christmas Day.
“To every cloud there is a silver lining” someone said that.. I believe it to be true.

PS. I have been up making dumplings for my son’s lunch, and I’m going to cook turkey and his favourite sausages to go with the dumplings, … I know he should visit more often right =^_^= so… to my friend Bonnie, no I won’t be eating out of a can today =^_^=…
Yup… its that time again… won’t be long, just gotta wait it out. tick tock.

The plows had not been by, driving was slow, one car had been down the road earlier in the day, closer to one of the main roads there had been perhaps, two, three sets of tracks leading out… but going towards the conservation area, it was only the one set of tracks leading into the woodlands. I wondered who else had make this journey, guess I would know the answer when I arrived at my destination.
This little fellow was just two arm lengths away, he was not concerned with anything but getting at his feed. I stood as still as I could, I wanted the birds to continue to dine. Not one but two blue jays almost landed on me. I was thrilled beyond words to have them so close*. Off to my right I saw the red cardinal patiently waiting to see what I would do, and for the opportunity to swoop in .. the little chicks off course, were flying in and out they are daily visitors to this area…
I have been spoken to about driving out during a snowfall, to an area that is off the main roadways. I truly appreciate and am grateful that there is concern. On the drive, I kept telling myself, I should consider getting special tires for such excursions. Then the other voice, asked how often I planned on doing such activity. =^_^= there is always a voice of reason within our heads..
The quiet solitude of the morning, the happy greeting from the birds, their enjoyment of the seeds, the moment of acceptance of my presence. This for me is so rewarding, so satisfying. I trust in God that my activities will be guided. I believe that one is meant to do what they are called on to do. Sometimes, it means going out of my way, sometimes, it means being very diligent and careful in how I do something. BUT do it I will. Why, because life is to enjoy, to live,
I do not want to put anyone else in danger, or ask that they do what I do.. but when the objective is to be with and in nature.. to enjoy the open space, feel the land around me, it is like a meditation in movement, it is a communication with the Universe
By the time I was ready to leave and head back, I noticed there were two other cars besides mine and the first car in the parking area. =^_^= I am not alone in my search for PEACE and ONENESS with the UNIVERSE.
I wonder if I still have my snowshoes.. must go look, and also.. reminder.. put a small shovel in the trunk of the car.

from the pictures, all looks stark and bare – however that is not what was, what could not be capture in the frame, were the sounds of children laughing, crying out in glee at their discoveries. The happy songs of the chickadees that were swooping and landing with graceful delight at the offered treats.
I captured the trees in the late autumn wardrobes, as they patiently waited for the forecasted snow. There were people all around, dressed for the November chill, colourful jackets and scarves could be seen dotting the skyline as they emerged from their cars in the parking lot some yards away.
It was a happy day, everyone knew what was coming this way. You could feel the icy fingers of the teasing taunting wind… oh yes… snow would be here later that day.*
One should never assume that what you see at first glance, is what IS.
It is easy to misinterpret the situation and jump to conclusions. Always have a humble attitude and double check to make sure.

*It snowed in abundance later that afternoon =^_^=
The forecast said, snow this afternoon, and snow it did. I got out for one more wander ..
I could feel the stillness in the air. there was a thin layer of ice on most of the water.
There was a delicious sense of anticipation, it was cold, but not an angry cold, my fingers sought warmth in my pockets, I enjoyed the fresh air, and the brisk stirring of the teasing breeze as it tousled my hair.
From no snow to inches deep on the deck around the supper hour. Already I have been out twice to clear the deck and patio area where the dogs can run. Yes.. I will delight in snuggling down under the covers tonight.
