When I see an oak tree … I think of endurance, strength, majestic … locally our LCBO (Liquor control board of Ontario) has put out a statement that once they run out of their current supply of paper bags, they will no longer be providing them. Customers will have to supply their own bags like we are required to do at grocery stores … interesting feedback… some customers just shrug, they have to do so already in the supermarkets etc. so why not. Other’s protest because paper is recycled. However the argument that it will save millions of trees… is what stands out for me.
Think of how much “service” we get from a tree, how many homes /shelter it provides for our feathered friends and other wild life. The last couple of years have seen how climate changes have meant we are experiencing more severe storms. Storms that do damage to the forest/woodlands, we see broken tree limbs everywhere, and trees that have gone to standing tall and proud to broken shreds torn apart and left splintered and dying from the fierce winds and heavy ice/snow build ups.
Develop new ideas through your imagination – softly and flexibly. If you could find a way to add a twist you will have more joy.
Express straight away once you’ve found it. “Great” Proactively express about others’ goodness. It feels great to be told so, even about things you already know.
Be grateful for everything. If you see everything as material to express gratitude, you can encounter a number of opportunities you are grateful for.

Thanksgiving Service – the 21st of each month – the most important service of the month. Humbly express appreciation for all the blessings of the past month and sincerely ask to be guided and protected by the grace of oyashkiri in the coming month. A trip down memory lane. Back around 2012 I had the opportunity to drive down to Sharon Springs,NY. I had never been down into NY state, always my trips had been to areas in upper NY State. Being it is Thursday I thought I would share with you some of my memories of that trip. I wanted to visit the now defunct Sharon Springs Spa that had been famous world wide for its healing spring waters. I will post a collage of pictures taken during our trip there.
It was a beautiful day, so much charm and history, for us the pride of ownership shown in the houses along the streets was picture perfect.
We are blessed that we can so easily visit and enjoy the history and communities of our neighbours to the south of us. I had asked my husband to find a way for us to visit the Springs since I had read about its fame and was intrigued by its history. The spa itself was of course long gone, but the town had done its best to preserve its history.
For those of us who are photo buffs, it is always interesting to me how we are each and everyone of us, so unique in the way we capture our memories. How we visualize the moment before us. The past tells us a lot about how life was, across from the Wagner house was this wonderful lookout. Wagner House was on our way to Sharon Springs and Sharon NY.
Can you picture yourself sitting here on a beautiful spring/summer/fall day… enjoying the simplicity of the view, I don’t know what kind of winters they have in this part of NY State, but on a sunny day .. I’d sit a spell, to this day just looking and remembering this view… I smile.

It wasn’t that long ago that there was snow on the ground, these past few days of record breaking warm weather for this time of year has started the “spring cleaning” buzz. Trying to catch some rays on the deck the other day was great till one neighbour started to vacuum up leaves/debris from the winter, which brought on a flurry of activity from another neighbour who decided to power wash his deck. Timing right.

Harmony does not require sameness. A single note played simultaneously thru different instruments creates beautiful music when different chords are played.
I thought today I’d tell you a very short story. it is spring time the birds out happily singing their joy at being able to roam and search out new friends, new territories to experience, There is the promise of days and weeks of new growth and a world that is more bountiful.

Never stop being YOU, always remember that YOU matter, the days of believing that someone else will or can make you happy… belong in the once upon a time stories we were fed as kids. We are responsible for our lives and the decisions we make. Love between two people is beautiful .. and sharing your life with someone/partner/friends enriches and brings untold blessings into our lives. But in the end, you and you alone are responsible for your choices. PL Precept # 1 Life is Art.
I lay in bed last night wondering how come the world was such a complex place to navigate. On the radio earlier in the day in the car, I actually turned off the sound, the negativity, the complaining, the dissatisfaction being constantly broadcast out was not entertaining nor was it making my drive a pleasure, it was in fact annoying. With a push of a button, the ambience in the car was a blessing. I was now alone with my own thoughts and the scenery unfolding before me. Reality check, I have that radio station programmed and listen to it willingly.. for news updates and weather … I need not have it on all the time, it is habit to do so. I need to practice “silence” more often.
Why silence, would a better word be quiet. Every day we wake to a new day and new opportunities. It is easier to do the same old thing in the same way, why … because we are used to it. In the last months, even the last year or two, I’ve become aware of how with time I have or had fallen into a routine, and in some ways have unintentionally stopped expanding my inner growth.
“Inner growth” what does that mean. Just words aren’t they. Comes down to ..my comfort zone, what at the end of the day, makes me happy. Ask yourself when was the last time you felt “happy” and filled with “contentment”…
Give you a moment to reflect on that. Cuz only you can answer that, I’m also thinking, that if you are like most … a state of happiness and contentment isn’t how you feel about your day to day. I’m thinking pure contentment, plain old happy, big smile, enjoying the moment whatever it is,
How often have I heard, he/she makes me so spitting angry, or he/she gets on my nerves, he/she did such and such… Hey.. hello… who is he/she she/he…. the only person responsible for your happiness is YOU.
This is Thursday, and you all know I love my Thursday Doors… All week I have had it on my “to do” to drive out to ?? wherever and find a door(s) that will please, or invite more than a passing glance. My back door is a fright. Once way back when I first began to play around with it, I took a picture of it for fun, my husband was horrified that I actually used in it my blog…to him it was a source of.. “thank goodness no one can see it unless they are admitted unto the back veranda (it is an inner door, you have to access another door to get out) That door is old, I’ve painted it, stenciled it, painted it again, not all over, just here and there, it is like an old canvas that I just keep building on.
LOL I actually had comments from fellow door chasers that it was an interesting old door, it was picked out for comment altho’ it was presented with maybe 1/2 doz doors. We are all so different and our reactions to what we “see” will be different on any given day, depending on our “mood” and “headspace” at the time we read the blog ….
So….while I was lying there last night contemplating – noise, doors, happiness, a door came to mind, and I’m going to try to find it to share with you. it was sitting against at the curb, no longer wanted, not in use.. it was waiting.. With the changing of the seasons, from winter to spring to summer, I am in transition, and a bit like the door, I have history, a past, and today, in the now I’m trying to navigate the world around me. Sometimes I realize that as much as so much is the same, there is also a whole new set of “rules” out there and over time the simplicity of “living” has become a juggling act, and the norm is for everyone to be “busy” “busy” “busy”
Can you see the history, the love the past this door had. I can, if you are a story writer, or have a creative imagination, you will love this door. yet .. to the owners, it had pasted its prime and was left on the curb to fend for itself.
You’ll have plenty of doors to pick from… take your pick… today is the day for being brave.. take that step .. walk through a different door to a new opportunity.
