I miss the wild turkeys!

What was it about them? I have no idea, they are not pretty or cute, but they sure had personality. Will I see them again.. I don’t know.. that is why it is so important to be in the moment. To live each moment being “present’… the memory I have of being with them, makes me smile. Priceless moments, since I have made strides over the years to be present in my interaction with life… I have many memories that please me to remember.

I see and hear people talking about what they love or remember best of the past year… and what they are looking forward to in 2023. I keep it very simple. I just like being happy, and I strive for contentment.

Always be humble. If you work on things with the attitude of asking for a favor, people around you will advise you what they have noticed. There’s something in fact you are not aware of that you do.

Some days I feel ripped apart like the tree bark of a felled tree. Maybe I will heal and there will be no scars, but that is unlikely… however.. I will be stronger for the experience. Q

Wednesday… 1.4.23

if you were to imagine you could be anywhere, would you like to be in a walled garden or in an open space with a view that goes on for miles. contemplate the silence within the walled garden, and then move to the open space and listen again…

Listen to others until the end. If you put your thoughts first, you will not be able to listen to others until the end. Firstly, listen to others to the end, and understand them well.

Happy place

I’m tucked away in my hidden retreat… listening to the rain falling, the steady rhythm of the drops as they cut through the deep piles of snow in the yard… when I opened the door to let the dogs out, the rain was falling in sheets.. it was a sight to see against the piles off winter snow that since yesterday have lost about half of their height because it has been mild.. and of course the rain is not being kind to the snow that fell over the past couple of weeks.

This location (above) is not known to many, those of us who frequent this little hide-a-way… tend to keep it a secret. Hmmm wonder why! True with all the snow we had, it won’t look like this now, if we trekked in to visit the ambience would still be magical, but very different.

Like… here we are saying goodbye to another year, by this time tomorrow it will be 2023. Let’s move forward with a positive attitude. We have so much to discover and enjoy before we have to “slow down”.

Have a prayerful mid to love yourself and others. Open up your heart fully when praying to God. It will help you sort out your feelings.

The ballet of sun and shadows

Cast magical visuals as the sun lazily rose in the sky

There was a hush in the Grosbeak melodies

Even they, were silenced as we watched the scene unfold.

Experience the joy of change. It is truly amazing when you look back at yourself this year compared to last year, or today, compared to yesterday and realize how much you have improved and changed.

Let’s have a humble mind. Once you think, “that’s good enough,” you become blind to the opportunities to be more creative. Perfect Liberty 2022.30

I think this last one is a good thought for me to meditate on today…. have I become blind to opportunities? Some times I get so focused on what I want to do… I miss new possibilities.

a new day

Seeing this picture reminded me of my trek around the perimeter of the piece of land that stuck out from the mainland. I had been climbing over stumps, fallen logs, dense vegetation when I felt the eyes watching me. I looked over and there was a very intent bird watching my progress. I was so close I was surprised she didn’t take off.. but then… she wouldn’t would she.. she was protecting her nest. I made my apologies and backed away… not before I whipped my Nikon out to grab a picture. Can you see if she said “cheese”…

Are you overdoing things? Not only do you harm yourself when you overdo things, but you may be imposing on others as well.

Reconnecting ( or staying connected) with nature is vital to good health. It has been shown to have an enduring effect on emotions and mood. I find it very helpful .. I call it part of my brain health support program. Try it, you might like it. =^_^=

thief….

What do you call someone (or persons) who steal bird feeders from a feeding area where the birds come to eat. They(humans) come out to the conservation areas to enjoy the beautiful surrounding which include the inhabitants of the woods/forests… then they steal the bird feeders that help keep the birds in an area where everyone can enjoy their antics and coming and goings. AND they don’t hesitate to stick dirty hands into the feed that is there for the birds, because they don’t bring any nuts/seeds themselves yet they want to feed the wildlife that they came out to enjoy.

We, I am not alone in caring for the wildlife in the woods, take care to give a proper diet of food that will help the birds etc. to get through what can be challenging winter weather. We go regularly so that the food does not waste, go bad, get too wet, start to rot and cause possible sickness to the clientele at the feeders. People who feed, research and look for the seeds/grains etc. that will help the animals maintain good health.

People who steal are thieves. Plain and simple. and to steal from animals trying to survive our winters, I say “shame on you”…

What goes around, comes around. On behalf of my feather friends, I hope you get your just desserts.

Feeders were clearly identified.. so to use them, the thief(ves) will have to paint over my name or announce to the world, they steal.

Woodpecker was taken by Paul Marsh, see previous post for link to his flickr page.

Wow look snow as far as we can see… and it is snowing again…. still we have a lot of possibilities out there… Loved this picture of the woodpeckers when I saw them while reviewing all the wonderful pictures on Paul’s flickr page. (photo taken by Paul Marsh) https://www.flickr.com/photos/128428488@N07/ Wasn’t snowing when he took the picture, but it is the keen look on the birds faces as they check out their surroundings.

Happy mid week to you … the picture of the birds also reminds me of today’s quote (PL Calendar)

It is not fun to be stuck in one place. Instead of being captured by what’s in front of you, strive to broaden your horizons.

Perfect Liberty 2022.28

Woodpeckers love to discover new “restaurants”, you can hear them totally caught up in their task of “creating/eating” their latest discovery. When they eat something buttery, they like to clean off their beaks before filling up again. When they are being selective, they will start with something soft and then move on to something with more grit … they like variety and will fly from one tree to another to keep their “dinner” interesting.

Till soon
