innocence in art

anna June 23

When we are young and begin our journey, art is a creative outlet.  A way of expression. Young eyes, will replicate with whatever medium they have on hand and will delight us with their drawings and insights.

As we travel the road of life, our thoughts and views take on different forms of expression.  This drawing was done by my 6 year old niece, seeing it, I was filled with memories of the days where I lay with my pencils, crayons and rescued papers, designing what I knew would be the gowns and dresses of the “fashion” world.

What happens to our dreams, do they actually go away, or do they blossom into an assortment of different colour and shapes.  I still think of drawing and using fashion when I sit to “express”  my thoughts, the key word being -think-  that disappears the minute I see a blank page/canvass.  My innocence has had years of living to change its perceptions.

PL Precept #1   Life is Art,   friends, go with the flow, the only constant in life is change.  Life your life to the fullest, appreciate and be grateful for all the comes your way.  Growing pain and all.  You “art” will shine and continue to be uniquely yours.

Sticks and stones, rocks, brick, lumber, everything in life, is canvas ready.  each day a new beginning. Art is everywhere.  To each his/her own…..  creativity begins within.

I remember when I began landscaping in earnest, I would pick up driftwood, rocks cast off metal objects, an empty lot was a huge canvas .. one that would grow and give me a new “view” every season and year.

research

Object,    considering a class at Scrapbook Centrale, pick up deck of cards.  Live in Ottawa, drive to Montreal for deck of cards. ????

Look again, see the deck of cards.  No I don’t either.  I went next door to a Dollar store to find a deck, and it took walking up and down the aisles several times. I kid you not.

The workshop that I had considered taking, was one that involved 52 cards (standard playing cards)  Having purchased the playing cards, and begun the first step of putting black gesso on a few…..I am now, no longer considering that class.  Yup.. I have been drawn to brighter more electric colours and find myself reviewing options.

Research is good.  So is change, timing is everything.

PL Day 26   Put your whole heart into whatever you do, no matter when or where you are.

Don’t try to cut corners or be careless about things.  Be fully responsible completing whatever you set out to do.

It is a bit of a drive to Montreal, but the inspiration I get there, the ability to see and enjoy the creativity of others AND the vast array of products allows me plenty of fodder to research.

PL calendar day 10

When you are not having fun, could it be because you re being lazy?  Sometimes you feel blue or can’t seem to find  the joy in doing anything.  At times like this, just get up and move your body or work your mind to the fullest extent.

If sadness and lack of hope knock I your heart – try to do something positive for someone else.

lost and found

butterfly huawei1

If I were an object, I would say I was lost

if broken I would hope to be fixed

found by a stranger, I hope they would rescue me

but, \I am not an object,

I am not lost, nor am I broken

So I don’t need to be found, or fixed

Life is not playing a trick on me

I am in mourning, lost in my own thoughts

realizing that I am in uncharted territory

like a butterfly I am buffeted by the wind

there is no place to hide

on the outside I shimmer and shine

while inside I dip and dive

from the sublime to mediocre moments

while I wait for the  painful reality of now

becomes tomorrow

and another day.

I miss what was

no more no less

Q

Do I feel stressed, no, but tonight I am sad, in May it will be a year since my husband passed…I am overwhelmed at times, at just how much awareness I have of how love is a blessing in all its forms. Thank you my dearest friends, when you reach out, it is a balm and a reminder that love is Universal – You are appreciated and fill my heart with gratitude.  I love you!

It is interesting because it is different

Even if someone totally disagrees with you or does things differently, you may learn something from them.  Avoid getting trapped in a mindset.  “This is the way, it has to be” and free your mind to consider other possibilities.

Katana

Katana DC collectible 3.7.19

Historically , a Katana was traditionally known as a Japanese sword, used by the samurai of ancient and feudal Japan.  However, my Katana is a DC Bombshell collectible.  Her real name is Tatsu Yamashiro and her superpowers  – martial arts intuition  artistic intuition, and enhanced swordmanship.  You can of course read more about her on the net.  In the comics she is sometimes a teenager… But mine is grown up, ageless =^_^=

butterflies and flyWhy Katan, DC and Marvel have dozens and dozens of characters and possibilities.  It was actually my niece who gave me the idea.  She herself had recently picked up a Superwoman.  That brought back memories for me when I was growing up, Linda Carter was the blue eyes beauty who played her in the series that was on the telly.

I related to her super powers and her dedication to good, and the service of her abilities in helping others.

This is from the Wikipedia   Katana is a fictional superheroine that appears in comic books published by DC Comics. First appearing in 1983, Katana is a samurai warrior whose skill with a sword allows her to fight for justice as a superhero. Her tragic backstory includes the death of her husband, Maseo, whose soul becomes trapped in her blade, the Soultaker. Katana has been featured in various DC Comics superhero teams, including the Justice League and the Birds of Prey, but is most commonly associated with the team known as the Outsiders, a team of heroes hand-picked by Batman to act as his personal black ops team, handling riskier missions.

PL Calendar day 7   Your enthusiasm will pave the way

Your enthusiasm will fuel your efforts and creativity and will spread to those around you driving new developments.

Have fun today, who will your alter ego be =^_^=  ?

Thanks to my niece who inspired me to get out yesterday and have a grand old time rediscovering a part of me.

journals, art and

journals 1

Good morning, Bom dia… How are you all, this lovely Friday morning. The teasing aroma of simmering pork riblets is wafting in from the other room.  Ahhh another day begins.

What you see is another start-up collection of journals, I have gathered them and put them in one spot. The couple that I am currently working in, are still in my atelier.  According to the Oxford dictionary (yeah hey guys, remember the dictionary, hard cover with actual pages)  a journal is a newspaper or magazine dealing in a particular subject.  A daily record of news and events.  A diary.

Mine are mostly art journals, prior to the art journals I was having fun in “junk” journals.   The art journals allow for me to play with my paints, and inks, experiment with various techniques, and truth be told, play around and have fun with medium that allows for visual expression.

new tool 2.16

This spatula is a fun tool that I found at DeSerres the other day.  I have used it now in my ways, I amaze myself at how much fun I can have with one new addition to my tool box.  Had it not been on sale, I would have passed it by, it had a red sticker, and I was checking out the sale items.

That happens all the time, we are so focused on looking for what we are wanting or think we want, that we will miss other gems along the way.  That day I was inspired to bend down to check out items below the usual area of my search and find gaze.  It is amazing what we can find or discover when we let go of “patterns” and try something different.

a special tool box

57c7cee1a7d92af8579ff422bed20e57In cleaning up, going through boxes, I came across a file folder from days gone by.  In the file folder I had copies of a paper I had typed and copied to enclose with special little boxes I made to send to friends.

Special Tool Box, for someone important

Rubber band to remind you how wonderful a hug is, to give or receive

Tissue – to remind you to dry someone’s tears, perhaps your own, so you can see the tears of others.

Button – to remind you to “button your lips” to keep from saying mean things about others or talking when it is not appreciated.

Toothpicks – to remind you to “pick ” out the good qualities of everyone including you.

Band-aid –  to remind you of healing hurt feelings, either yours or someone else’s

Candy kiss – to remind you that everyone needs a nice treat occasionally

Gold thread – to remind you that friendship is the golden thread that ties together the hearts of everyone

Eraser – to remind you that everyone makes mistakes sometimes that is all right

Lifesaver candy –  to remind you to think of ne as your lifesaver, whenever you need to talk, feel free to come to me

Mint – to remind you that you are worth a MINT to me!

I can not take credit for this idea, I just remember it making the rounds at the hospital I worked at many years ago.  I sat on many committees and being a teaching hospital, I also had to meet with peers in other hospitals on various matters.  This little “piece” was much talked about at the time.  Everyone thought it to be such a great idea.  Finding it again, has brought back memories of another time and place.  I also think that it very much applies to NOW.  What do you think?
