It was COLD yesterday morning, the blue jays were puffed up as they patiently waited for me to throw down their morning treat of peanuts in a shell. They do tackle the whole corn kernels and kibbe/sunflower seeds, but its the peanuts that they favour, Enthusiastic diners! With a prowling “eat you up” bird in the neighbourhood, I stayed with them ,.. going back and forth to my car to the various feeders which gave them the time to have breakfast … The “merlin” (Falco columbarius) is a small species of falcon that preys on the smaller birds. Another reason that I sometimes sit with them while they dine.. (mornings when it is as cold as it was yesterday, there are/were no other “human” visitors to be seen or heard from. it was Blissful!

Express yourself with a kind and thoughtful heart. Be attentive and put your whole heart into your expressions, as if you are aways trying to create a ” beautiful work of art,”

I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of the beauty that Nature provides us with in any season. Today there were many pictures of cardinals and blue jays against the snowy background that is now our backdrop till sometime in early next year. Local birders and nature photographers have been enjoying the flash of colour against the fresh fallen snow …

Seasons come and go, but always, you will be in the NOW. Make each moment count, enjoy today .. it won’t happen again.

Give importance to listening, looking, thinking, doing and speaking. Look and listen carefully before making a judgement. Assumptions and hasty conclusions can lead to misunderstanding.

In life we hurry, from place to place, task to task, cross another item off the to do list. We are in constant, “moving” mode. Sometimes in life we NEED to slow down, we NEED that moment of QUIET. Have you had yours today.

At first glance the old buildings used disused, empty, but when I stopped to actually look, I saw that indeed there was life, the place was being enjoyed, Being in the NOW is what will keep you grounded.

Experience the joy of change. It is truly amazing when you look back at yourself this year compared to last year or today compared to yesterday and realize how much you have improved and changed. PL 2016.30

See the 2nd from the left, last row. That is the Li Ho Restaurant, it was a rocking juke box dance hall at one time, I won my first jitterbug/jive contests there a “few” moons ago. Smiles.. time was.. memories are always interesting,…. Now driving into an empty parking lot ..not another car insight, just the birds watching from the trees and the squirrels scampering to be first to greet me .. that.. is powerful. When the Ravens call down, even more thrilling.

This wonderful collage of Cardinals, was presented to us by photographer Michel Lanthier, to see more of his captures, you can visit his FB page https://www.facebook.com/michel.lanthier.79 an avid nature photographer, he brings the beautiful birds you see,( or don’t see,) that share our environment. I am blessed that I have a family of Cardinals that have adopted my feeders in the front yard, so I was delighted when I saw his post. I am never standing there with my camera .. and even if I was, I would be trying to take the picture through my Livingroom window. thank you Michel.

Breakfast

I visited with them for almost an hour, the guests just kept arriving. In the afternoon at a different location, I had cardinals, chickadees, sparrows (several varieties ) starlings and a couple I didn’t recognize. In the morning I also brunched with crows, MANY crows.. Yesterday you could say was a day for the birds and wildlife. * I didn’t get pictures of the nuthatches/chickadees/BlueJays or woodpeckers.. there was too much movement (there had to be close to a dozen Bluejays) around me. *Note.. there is a place or two now for those of you who bring a small stool or folding chair to sit and enjoy.

Express your feelings straight away. It will be good if you could express your feelings as they are to people around you, when you are happy or when you ae troubled.. Also, it will be a good chance for you to get to know others.

It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else will affect its successful outcome.

I was beyond happy at sighting this bird.. I so didn’t expect it. I had stopped to check a small area of water off a road, saw lots of geese, and was turning to go back to my car, when I saw a spot of white in what looked like a run off, that ran under the road. Its times like this I think I need a better camera.. thankfully the moment passed.

these were only some of the geese in this location, it obviously was a happy place for them

you are NOT scaring me off

This little guy was not going to give, not an inch. fresh sunflower seeds, peanuts .. come on give me a break woman, no way am I going to let you chase me away.

Such was the dialog I had with little ms. uppity here. I had not been to Mer Bleue for a bit, so after Dewberry, I went to see how things were .. I had food for the crows and now I think grackles… Today was the opposite of other times, there were more birds, and a good variety at Mer Bleue… while Dewberry was quiet.

when I was leaving the ground you see here was full of birds, doves, blue jays, black birds, everyone was wanting the fresh seeds.
these two vagabonds were all over the place causing havoc , the one above on the tree, was not with these two.

Day of Appreciation 21st.

I will be forever grateful and thankful for this past winter’s experience of having met up and spent time with the birds at Dewberry and Mer Bleue. They got me up and out every day every single day since last fall, no matter the weather. I enjoyed the fresh air with them, shared in the bluster of the winter winds. In return they allowed me into their space and shared meals with me.. For this I can never repay the joy they brought into my life. I have much to be thankful.

Over the course of the many weeks and days, I met several wonderful new “friends”.. my friends of the forest =^_^=… the few photographers who have graciously allowed me to share their works of art with you, my dear readers.

There will be two services today at the church for the Day of Appreciation ceremonies. 10 a.m. and an evening one at 7 p.m. we ask that you reserve seating for the evening service please. We maintain social distancing, it is important that we all stay safe…. As usual if you are unable to be with us physically, please join us in prayer at 10 a.m. and / or in the evening at 7 PM.

Love YOU, you are in my prayers.. Always!
