Thursday door

Life is fragile … a moment comes and goes in the blink of an eye. Today was December 1st. and at the PL church we had a 10 o’clock ceremony (every 1st of the month) where we pray for world Peace and dedicate ourselves to live as peaceful human beings in our own worlds. On the 11th. we have a ceremony to express our gratitude and appreciation for the love and virtues of our ancestors … asking for their protection and guidance so we can continue to live the PL Way.

The church is a building where we come together to pray and share the values and the philosophy of the teachings. Without people it would an empty building, it is the people who come to share in community that makes it a special play to be.

When I come up to and walk through the doors into the church, there is an immediate calm and a sense of “quiet comfort” … the doors our symbolic of “passage”… they are not ornate, but strong& sturdy, their presence give a sense of “security”… when we enter, we pass through from “the outer world” to the “spiritual” world of our true “selves”

just out of bed …… the sky was so red I couldn’t let it happen and not take action captured on my cell ….. it was so dark so intense……. yet when transferred to my hard drive, the red was already fading into the morning clouds …. but… that is what life is…. a lifetime can disappear in the blink of an eye. …. change is an opportunity for growth… .hmmm well said!

It is not fun to be stuck in One place. Instead of being captured by what’s in front of you, strive to broaden your horizons.

Yup… we’ve had snow.. it is not staying around, “don’t kid yourself” said the wee voice… you’ve already had your first bad freezing rain drive down the icy snow covered dirt road. So… now what… Big Smile, we can build a snowman, start thinking of a rink, and yes, maybe even give some thought on how to decorate and cheer up the room(s) for the December holidays.

If you are a dog owner/walker you get to see the snow by moonlight, when the dogs need their evening “let out”… I’ve noticed how the snow has a silver almost transparent shine as it gently and silently floats and dances down from the above. There is a light that goes on over the back door when the dogs bounce out into the night, it shines over the deck… it is really very pretty.. and sooooo quiet.

At 5:30 a.m. when I start my day, I get to enjoy the early morning quiet before the activity starts up .. today being Saturday the roads I need to take to get to the conservation area will be less busy. I’m excited, I can leave earlier and spent time with the crows while they have their breakfast. It is a pleasure I allow myself…. they are so grateful. They arrive in such numbers… but still I am starting to be able to tell some of them apart, the “leaders” the noisy ones, then there are the more reserved, even have a clown or two.. their personalities are such fun to observe… especially now that they are getting used to me again. Even have a silly seagull who thinks he is part of the “morning crowd” he sticks out like a sore thumb… give credit to the crows.. they let him/her join in.

Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

In PL.. precept # 19 Begin once you perceive. When a thought/feeling comes to mind and we feel we should act… PL Precept # 18 Each moment is a turning Point.

Trust your instincts… trust yourself… PL # 11 Always be with God… when we put our heart into everything we do… we grow, problems become opportunities… remember every day is a new beginning.

Treasure each moment in time. Life is a continuation of now. live your life as fully as possible without regrets.

milder today, still need those winter boots and coats .ENJOY!

Black Friday?

I have been rereading Ishmael -an adventure of the mind and spirit by Daniel Quinn. Reading something that you previously came across YearS ago… makes for interesting observations. The book came out in 1992. Once I started to peruse the book, I remembered how I had reacted to it the first time I came across it. I grew up on Alan Watts, The prophet Kahlil Gibran, and as many books I could find on the Tao. Having a gorilla for a mentor is something new to contemplate now that I am in my “senior” years.

Black Friday is no longer something that happens on one day after a holiday, we have been bombarded with Black Friday sales now for days, weeks even. There is a huge focus on commercialism, spend, spend, buy, buy.

The other book that is on my reading list at the moment is Sophie’s World. This is a novel about the history of philosophy by Jostein Gaarder It was translated and copywritten in 1994 by Paulette Moller, hmmm you say, kinda interesting reading at this tender age… yes… it has given me some food for though BECAUSE I am past my formative years, I have lived many lifetimes now… and I realized as I was reading the pages of these books that my thought process and how I “see” life is pretty much etched into my daily living.

The picture on the right is how I digest, reflect and regroup my thoughts when I am processing my days/nights. The picture on the left with the gorilla is “another time/place” when I was more “open” to the energy and thought process of others/and circumstances.

I can really relate to the ambiance and storyline of Sophie’s world because the writer has her finding her own “secret den” where she can go and process her thoughts. In both books, the characters are looking for answers, they are filled with wonder and are like sponges taking in information and trying to make sense of the world as it is seen by them…

In Canada we had our Thanksgiving in October, yesterday was thanksgiving in the United States, in PL we celebrate and have special service each month on the 21st. It is a time to remember, and express our gratitude for the blessings in our lives, and each 11th of the month we have a service to honour and pay tribute to our ancestors. Because our lives are so closely tied with our neighbours in the States, we spend a lot of time hearing about and seeing what Thanksgiving is in both Canada and the United States.

What dominated the airwaves these past weeks/months has been sports, shopping, politics, and more shopping and sports. AND lets not forget all the hallmark movies and storylines about that special love that is more storybook than anything else that happens from now till after Christmas.

How real do most of us deal with life on a day to day basis.???

Today’s calendar.. ( which I find interesting for Black Friday reading )

Use money and things usefully and enthusiastically. Money and things are materials for self expression. Use them joyfully with appreciation

If you have thoughts on this post, please share them with me. Am I too vague? Am I seeing incongruity were there is none.?

I’m late….

Some days we just need more time…Like what is the rush….

Be in tune with the feelings of others. Let’s start by trying to understand other peoples’ feelings.

First Snow

There is a quiet that transcends all else when you can stand in the middle of the forest and simply take in the moment. The birds are eating .. they are busy off in the distance, the snow is still falling, you are alone on the trail, everything is fresh and covered in a blanket of white. I love these moments… it was true, roads were a mess, driving wasn’t the best… but.. all of you at one time or another has had such moments where you have simply been awed by nature and her all encompassing beauty.

Start today with a fresh outlook. Even though people and situations may look the same, they are constantly changing. Start each day with a fresh mind.

Nov 9…

Express yourself clearly so others can understand you. When you can’t communicate clearly it can lead to problems. always express yourself carefully to avoid any misunderstandings.

The magic of waking to another day, is realizing that there are so many possibilities, and each one will be a new beginning. I heard the other day that someone had made up a “mood board” they had collected and gathered materials to make up a poster with a collage of inspirations and aspirations. Sounds like a fun project, I am currently in a declutter “mode”, must ask if this is something they will put up somewhere or if it is like a journaling page. It is always fun and interesting to learn how others cope with mindfulness

into morning mist….

There is something about the tranquility and peaceful ambience of being in nature in the early morning hours.

Have a prayerful mind to love yourself and others. Open up your heart fully when praying to God. It will help you work out your feelings.

It is your road…

and yours alone to to walk, so much to see, so much to discover.

You will meet and walk with others along the way, but no on can walk the road for you.

Are you overdoing things? Not only do you harm yourself when you overdo things, but you may be imposing on others as well.
