When fresh snow falls, it lies clean and crisp. As the day progresses, it no longer has the same quality or look, its been walked on, trod on, run across, dropped on…. that initial moment of newness disappears with the passage of time.
No baile das nuvens no ceu
Na lue a clarear, vejo no raio e trovao, na estrela a briilhar
In the warn morning sunm in the newly fallen snow, in the thunder and lightening
and in a sudden rainbow.

PL Precept #11 Always be with God Confie todo a Dios
How many of us are spending time waiting. In my area, it seems that everyone around in different provinces or States have had their first, even some have had both of their shots. Meanwhile, we wait.
I’ve tried reading, I was as you know going out and feeding the birds, but now with the change in the weather, they are doing just fine.
Time is spent thinking, wondering when there will be a more balanced approach to how we spend our time, even catching up with friends in person, instead of by phone or virtual calls.
Even having the shot will not mean life will just return to “what it was” No, there will still be the need for masks and social distancing. Today there was segment on the radio about how the animals, especially dogs will adapt (not) when their humans return to working outside the home.
Now more than ever, we need to live being aware of the good, positive “things” “happenings” in our lives. The quote I posted yesterday, resonated with me then and even more today.
A thankful heart leads to happiness. When we really pay attention, we are surrounded by many things we can be thankful for, the society we live in, the kindness shown to us by others. You will be able to find true happiness when you can see and appreciate things.

Look forward to what’s ahead. There is no use brooding over the past. Always try to begin each day anew with a fresh outlook.
When someone we love – travels into the Universe – on wings of air so light, only his/her memory remains
I recently learned that a special friend, was dealt a blow that sent him reeling. His life was turned upside down with the news that his son (42 years old) was no longer of this world. I can only imagine that moment of reality that he, his wife and family had to live, was not only crushing but life changing.
Myself I learned of this news only the other day, I happened on him as he wandered on the street by his home, lost, fighting for control of his feelings. With each word that fell from his lips, I felt the raw pain, saw the fight within himself for control. I was walking one of my dogs, she became very quiet, attentive and with me, she quietly gave all her attention to his words, feelings and outpouring.
It is important in this lifetime of ours to never take for granted that everything will still be the same tomorrow. Life as we know it is fragile.
PL Precept # 18 Each moment is a turning point.
There are no words to express the sadness I feel when I think of my friend and his family, and no words that I can or could offer that would ease the pain of their loss.
What I can do .. is ask each and everyone of you who can, and would, to say a prayer for all in the world who are dealing with such pain and loss… Grief has to be lived… and each and every one of us, has had to deal with sorrow at some time in our lives. Prayer is a powerful tool. let us take a few minutes in our day, to say a prayer for all the families in this world who at this time are dealing with a situation that is difficult and hard to bare.. but live with it they must, till time helps ease the pain.
Today in the little bird garden, I asked each bird to carry a prayer into the skies.. that would carry love and healing energy to all who need it.
when there is a will, there is a waythe more I learn – the less I knowWhat I see today, in that one moment, will disappear as soon as I move away
-p.s. – I think of myself as being without discrimination – however today, when sea gulls joined the crows at the table, I actually wanted to shoo them away. – the lessons I am learning are very “thought provoking” (btw I did not act.. but I did take note of my reaction.)
can you see the darling owl? Isn’t this just the cutest picture..
Every day brings new beginnings… today was no exception. It was my pleasure to meet a wandering photographer, who came over to say hello. When he showed me this precious picture, I was thrilled when he offered to share some of his creativity with us. Thank you Ed.. (Ed Hodgins)
Tomorrow (Sunday 14th) service will be at 10 a.m. * remember tonight we move the clocks ahead one hour*
Have a “let’s do it” attitude. Even if a task is difficult, keep in mind it is given by God and accomplish it.
Doors are the gateway to many interesting and wonderful moments. Each of these doors will lead you into a different world, where you will be the author of your own adventure. Which door will you, or would you like to walk through. ?.
The past leads to NOW and the NOW leads to the future. Life is an accumulation of moments. Cherish each one.

Should you have picked Pub 101, this is a sampling of the delicious food you can enjoy while visiting the establishment, It has good reviews and is situated in the heart of the tourist area in downtown Ottawa. just saying, should anyone be hungry =^_^=
For the writers in the group, each one of the above doors tells a story. Some doors were found in the States, the rest are in Canada … There isn’t anywhere one can go without finding an “interesting” door.
Found this video,( free documentary Nature) I enjoyed it so much I thought to share it with you. Not interested, feel free to skip it. =^_^= . It caught my attention, I thought it was on crows, but alas.. the title is Ravens, tho’ you will find bits on crows too.
Tell yourself “things happen” Even if something is inconvenient, once you accept it you’ll be able to move onto the next step.

The right angle to approach a difficult problem is the “try-angle”
For with God, nothing shall be impossible Luke 1:37
I ate an oeuf de guimauve – as a diabetic I know better, but as a woman with a tendency to sometimes bend the rules… every year when they first come out and appear on the shelves, beckoning from the displays as we go to the cash, I succumb. I didn’t eat it right away, no I put it aside, saying I will share when a friend comes over..
The halo slipped, and then it fell off completely. I ate the whole thing. all 28g of dark chocolate sugar, unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa butter, milk and……
instant headache
For every action there is a reaction. I know better, of course I do. – who do you think went to bed with a headache.!
WE are responsible for our actions!
Will I have learned a lesson… sometimes I feel like the little mouse in the cage with the wonderful toys, one being a colourful wheel that goes around and around.

For those of you who are not near and will not be attending, I have have you in my heart and will include you in my prayers! I love and appreciate each and every one of YOU.

This has been a short visit, using bitmoji avatars!
The last couple of days I have seen wild turkeys out strolling, Yesterday I saw one crossing the road, I slowed to let it get across, it took its time, crossed over, went up over the side snow bank and on into the woods, as casual as you please. Where it entered the woods it was deep, his feet sunk in to the snow, but he just get trucking along. Not a care in the world. I stayed to watch him for awhile, it I wondered if another one would come out to meet him, but no he just sauntered further into the brush. Hope he had a good day.
ice step I chopped today at Dewberry
After my fall yesterday, I went back today with a shovel to dig out and make a step for people to use when going up and over the offending snowbank. It isn’t a masterpiece, but it is functional, and I had the pleasure of watching it being used before I left the site.
waiting and watching – the look out!
Having been very cold for the past couple of days, today when I arrived, the look out saw me coming and the calls went out, by the time I parked the crows were waiting in the trees for me to put out the grub. I still marvel at how they communicate with each other, and then when its time to “come and get it”… they seem to do it in an orderly fashion. There are a lot of them when its a full house.. Today there had to be 3, 4 dozen.. but they kept it orderly.. Truly amazing birds.. (hmmm do I sound a bit biased =^_^=)
I am very pleased to say that more and more I am meeting first time photographers not that they are new, but they have driven from away to come to Dewberry to see the Grosbeaks. The Grosbeaks are beautiful birds, I’m happy to see that they have a following. Seeing these people gather, cameras at the ready make me feel rather “proud”.. I smile to myself.. cuz I know that when I am on my own in the woods, the birds come out and share time with me.. I get to see them up close and personal without binoculars or a high powered lenses.
When I am asked why I go out every day, no matter the weather, there is only one answer, I want to spend time with the birds. No, I am not part of a group, I am on my own, it is my special time.. a time to unwind and re-energize my spirit. There is an energy and a peaceful state that happens, when I am able to simply BE, outdoors surrounded by my feather friends and the small woodland creatures that share the environment with me.
Don’t think “I Can’t” Begin by taking the first step, then you’ll be able to see what comes next and a path will open.

You’re happy, I’m happy. Have the mindset of “good for you, good for me” Express yourself in a way that makes others happy.
While out in the woods today, I fell. I was alone, it was bitterly cold today, there was enough wind to make it cutting if you were not dressed properly, that could be what kept others away, but this morning I had the area to myself. Today I was not far from the parking lot, still it reminded me that I should have had my whistle with me. For some reason this season I have not had a whistle with me, which is something I have always done when out hunting for pictures, especially when in the woods or back country roads on my own. I met Mark when I got to the Mer Bleue trail and asked him if he had a whistle, and no he did not. We chatted on the importance of having a whistle with us… he reminded me to blog about it.. As a wild life/nature photographer he is often way off in the woods on his own, he will pass it on in his blog as well.
Not only wild life, nature photographers go off on their own, I’m sure hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts do also. A whistle is inexpensive and mighty handy if you fall or find yourself “lost” /”confused” in the woods, or anywhere actually. You blow on that whistle, if there is anyone around, they will hear it. I checked on my way home, with both Dollar Tree and Dollarama, neither to my surprise had or sold whistles. I fortunately have several since we always had them with us when we went out, when driving the back roads and exploring off the beaten track. It might be something you would like to consider. For women navigating dark city streets after hours, this is also a handy tool to have handy.
NOW let me tell you about my wonderful “tea party” this morning with my feather friends. I put out my chair and sat, the place was almost empty, I had maybe one or two chickadees but that was it. I just sat .. listening to the trees moaning and groaning as the wind snapped and pushed at them. Then one by one guests arrived. Soon I was surrounded, at one count, I had over 2 dozen Grosbeaks, 6 Blue Jays, 2 male cardinals, 2 female cardinal, 3 downy woodpeckers, a hairy woodpecker and of course the wee ones. We were all happily communing when who should pop up and run up to me and then past me..the little ermine.. only now instead of being all white except for the very light lime green colour on his bottom half, he was almost all that colour.. this is confusing me. I have searched for picture or for info. on why the green tint to his fur.. if anyone knows.. please send me a message.
OK.. that’s it for now. I’m so excited about my visit with the birds this morning.. I need to take a breather, close my eyes and relive the experience.
