I stopped along a stretch of empty highway, to get out and give my legs some exercise. There was an opening in a fence that led me to this quarry. It was so quiet and peaceful, I sat awhile to enjoy the view. I tried to picture the hive of activity that would have once been part of a busy work day… then … gave up…. what was, isn’t what is…. In life… that is what happens to us as we age, once our lives were full of activities, work demands, & social commitments we didn’t have or always make time to appreciate the natural world around us. Then when we finally do…. the environment has changed.

Enjoy today… it won’t repeat itself…

PL Precept # 1 Life is art

Open road, clear blue skies, big fluffy white stratocumulus… there were numerous beauties framing the landscapes. The weather was balmy, sunny and picture perfect for a drive. I wanted to travel roads I’d not been on before. with the help of OnStar (a service I have with my Encore) I set out for a town over on the Quebec side going towards Montreal. I decided no radio… just the joy of allowing the thoughts to come and go… even turned the AC off and put the windows down.

What was startling .. and a realization that hit me, only as I was on my return drive… I saw few animals, I passed a “zillion” farms.. saw barns, out buildings etc. but not much activity, neither on the grounds around the farm, or around the many barns, silos, etc. A couple of times when I drove past small clusters of homes, or into and past a small village.. I saw the odd person walking a dog.. or jogging, and I did see two people on bikes, otherwise I was in a wonderland of pristine landscapes .. and weather that was perfect for my “adventure”

Look at this 1957 classic.. I had to stop and grab a photo… the owner’s wife was outside, she told me, her husband had just turned 57 and he had promised himself that on his 57th. birthday, he would celebrate by getting himself, his dream car. And voila! his pride and joy!

Let’s find the good in others and praise them.

All people have good qualities and bad qualities. Focus on the good in others and applaud them every chance you get. (PL2014.28)

Having been on the road since very early morning, I wanted to find a “casse-croute” “before I headed home, I found a roadside “bar” before leaving Quebec… Chez Meme (accents over each e)

Here I ordered French fries, steamed hot dog (all dressed) and a hamburger (just in case).. found out I needed cash.. had to find a bank.. only one for miles was a Desjardin.. in this very small village, it was a small kiosk in the diocese of the church that was on the main street. I got to be a grown up and try to use an ATM in a bank other than my own. LOL … I needed help. See.. one is never too old to learn.

Have a good day everyone…

When was the last time you took to the road for no other reason but to explore the world around you?

NOW” is always the start of something new

Leave the past in the past. What is important is “what you are going to do now.” Using the present as a starting point, move forward on a path towards improvement and progress.

Today I am doing something “new” I have booked a FST session at Movati (Fascial Stretch therapy). Want to know what that is https://youtu.be/Zvjy2muf35U?si=xOGv-c6pm5-5UB3M

Till soon.

A charity rally yesterday, bikers ready for the start of the tour. It began in Plantagenet Ontario, and was going to end with a spaghetti dinner in Alfred later in the day. The weather was awesome for the ride, good showing, and hopefully a successful event for the fund raisers.

A cheerful smile and expression makes everyone around you happy.

When you do everything with a smile, not only you but the people around you will feel good. Always remember to put on a happy face. (PL2014.15)

There is a sense of freedom when you ride a bike that I’ve been unable to replicate over the years. I’ve toured before, years ago now, but the feelings that I acquired from the rides has never gone away, I still smile when I see another rider on a touring bike go by. Noted yesterday although there were a lot of couples who rode together on the same bike. Many of the ladies had their own ride. THAT was a pleasure all on its own. I was given riding lessons MANY years ago for my birthday… but I was never brave enough to follow through. I liked being a passenger. =^_^= Spent many happy hours on a Honda Gold Wing.. and a Tiger (Triumph)

Cheers everyone.. make today a day of SMILES…

Many of the riders were from the Hawkesbury Harley Davidson club… sorry there were too many bikers to get a full picture of all participants and the various clubs that participated. If anyone knows or has information, please let me know. There were all makes and models of bikes there.

Can you feel it., it is only mid September but I can feel the crispness in the air in the early morning, and the various shades of reds/oranges/rust etc. are appearing against the many variations of greens. Whopppeee!

Have a good day everyone

. I am having trouble with this format.. any suggestions out there for an easy to use format that remains consistent in the layout.

Good morning… the cooler weather in the mornings is refreshing. the quiet on the bog is deceiving, the other day I thought I was alone, there were no cars in the parking areas as I drove by. Out of my car, I didn’t even see the doves.. the blue jays came when the peanuts were served, otherwise, it seemed usually quiet. I looked up into the trees to see if there was a bird of prey in the area.. but .no.. it was just quiet. I knew the turkeys were down by the farm, I saw them when I drove past.. they would be headed up my way, they had started to chase after my car… so I knew they would arrive.. but… I still found it unusually quiet…

As I walked away from the feeding area.. towards the boardwalk and the water, I could sense I was being watched…It was such a surprise.. cuz I knew .. just knew… there was a pair of eyes, watching me. As I strolled past the first path leading off to the right, I heard a rustle of leaves… I turned slowly towards the sound and saw that there was movement away from me, the lower branches on the bushes were still slightly swaying.. Was it the groundhog, no he knows me and would have come to the feeder area. Then I remembered the mother racoon and her wee ones, they had been around the other day… but no.. she would have just gone up to nosh on the fresh offerings in the dining area.

Slowly I turned back towards the water, and moved on… one of the pleasures of having the woodlands to myself, is that I may not actually see the other visitors to the area I’m wandering in.. but I know they are there. and… eventually the visitor will make itself known if it stays around… I’m there every day, 365 days of the year… I am learning from the animals.. not to rush, to take my time… to always listen and be aware of my surroundings. IF not now, maybe another time, when it is “right” it will happen,

Yesterday it was raining do hard, the water was ankle deep in areas….. yet.. there was a quiet that drew me in.. even without my “gum” boots I saw myself walking through the water… my inadequate footwear didn’t deter me from sharing breakfast with the furry and feathered friends that came to share the moment with me.

It was the first time I saw rain drops glistening on the iridescent feathers of the Wild turkeys. There was no sun, it was very cloudy, yet they were magnificent . the drops were like little crystals… rolling off them. Even the bunny came to say hello…

The rain was pelting at times… not all the chippies came out, but the ones that did were rewarded with easy access to the buffet.

Be in harmony with those who are closest to you. Work to cultivate positive and strong relationships with your family and with the people you work with. Getting along with those who are closest to you is the key to happiness,

The parking lots of the other parks I drove past were all empty. No Park “rangers” no contractors, the constant downpour kept the human visitors away. I drank in the “solitude” my bright yellow rainwear.. and fisherman’s hat meant I could just stand and enjoy the soft tap tap taps of the rain drops as they danced over me. Standing in the rain is hypnotic.
