August 15. forest wonders

the tree that was

The story teller in me, found a tree stump one day in a small forest setting nestled off a well trod trail. Not this one, but one similar. I was so taken with the setting that a whole story emerged about a wee family of forest folk who lived nearby and used the stump as their outlook. They would come out during the day, hike up the base of it, then stroll the “high grounds” enjoying the view of their little dens and glens.

I didn’t have the time this day to stop and really have a proper look around. Could this be where the wee creatures who live within the ferns and wild flowers, sit out on warm days.. to catch the rays of the sun, and visit with passers by. And what wee ones would they be?

can you feel the eyes hiding from sight, watching you

The whole area was full of life, birds, crickets, butterflies, ants, mice, chipmunks, the activity was alive with sounds … all blended in to form a natural melody that harmonized and weaved into a calming ambiance. It is a world of wonder like no other.

It is important to be assertive, but maintaining harmony is just as important. say what is on your mind clearly, but don’t be overly attached to your views. Respect the point of view of others and always seek to find a happy medium.

stand still.. look around.. stay still….

a meditation in green

I started out for one place, was in the wrong lane, ended up in a totally different direction, and smack dab to the entrance (parking lot) for the Larose Forest.

Was I dressed for a hike through the forest trails, no. Being the trouper I am, I decided to hike down one of the trails to get some pictures. Hot, was it hot… yes, but walking along under the canopy of the trees, there was a breeze.

My day was planned out for me by a higher being. I would not have started out to visit the Larose Forest on a day when temperatures were going to give us a scorching heat, with a high humidity factor thrown in. But I end the day with gratitude in my heart. I had a lovely day, it was a productive day, the myriads of greens, and earthy tones, was a palette that not only pleased the eye, but soothed a weary “soul”

Live in the moment. Whether you are walking, having a conversation, or having a good time, it is important to be fully engaged. Remember to live in the “now”

The everyday things you do will show when it really counts. If you have a tendency to be careless about everyday matters, you cannot expect to perform well at crucial times.

Enjoy the moment while you wait. Things come about when they are meant to happen. Think of what you can do for the time being, and don’t rush the outcome.

Even in our toughest moments, there is a part of us, that yearns to grow into the calm that we see around us. With faith as resilient and determined as dandelions pushing through cracks in the roads and pavements.. one moment becomes another….we let go and move on.

Search out your calm today… then.. pause… enjoy and re energize

Freedom to be!

Not a care, dressing for comfort, and because it is what you want to wear.

This is the innocence of youth. happiness is getting dressed so you can get out and play. You put on what appeals to you.. as soon as I saw this picture I was hooked. I knew I would have to share.

Treasure those fleeting inspirations. The best time to seize an opportunity is when you first notice it.

Good morning everyone! Another day of clear blue skies, white clouds and whoopeee.. less humidity. It is a gorgeous day, and its only beginning. Yippee Kiii Aye…..

With the rain we had, the vegetation out back grew like crazy. Yesterday I donned rubber gloves and braved the overgrown vines. Pulled, ripped and yanked.. then I swept, up the dead seed pods and pulled and yanked some more. Have to admit.. I didn’t groan, moan or grumble. (feeling a bit smug actually hummed)

Are you wondering how I felt later in the day…. YES I felt a tad worn and ready to chill. No guilt when I sat down to watch a taped Agatha Raisin.

Always applaud others. When you can be genuinely happy for others, you yourself will be blessed and you can experience a deeper sense of happiness.

LIFE IS ART

Perfect Liberty Precept #1

EVERYTHING EXISTS IN RELATIVITY

perfect Liberty Precept #7

In life we live each moment of our days, doing, thinking, taking action, eating, sleeping, whatever, there is usually an activity involved. the results of our days, some are productive, some less so, but…. the reality is.. for every “action” there is a “reaction”.

When we take a picture, we capture that moment in time. To the photographer, he/she saw and did so much before he/she took that picture. We see only the results .. what was captured in that moment when the picture was taken.

Mixed media is another re-enactment of sorts. the artists starts with an idea or inspiration, then pulls, tears, shreds, paints, pastes, stamps, whatever to accomplish an end result. In my case, instead of a photo, I call it a “doodle”. (dictionary -verb- to scribble absentmindedly etc.)

Will you “doodle” today, or dawdle…. LOL whatever you do, have a grand time doing it. and… SMILE!!

Your smile energizes the people around you. A smile has the ability to put others at ease and give them energy. Strive to be the first to offer a smile each day to those around you.

once upon a doodle

rose and lion mixed media doodle

LOL I have no idea why the name.. well I guess I do. The rose is the fluff upper left. I had to rewind and ball of wool that was so tangled I was only able to save 4/5ths of it. Never one to waste a good piece of knotted and fluffy wool, I balled it up and put it on the doodle card I was working on.

While drying it took on the look of a wet rose. Of course the ultra matte gel used to sculpture it in place, changed the effect somewhat.. but in person, I can still see the outline of my rose. My lion is in the pieces of discarded paper that I ripped up from some notice or other… and layered it in a rolled ball that obviously flattened and mushed around. it is the Distress oxide inks that shade the papers that gave my Lion its life.

Beauty as you know is in the eye of the beholder. I can tell you with certainty that playing with mixed media.. making colourful messes is very therapeutic for me. =^_^= … A good night’s sleep works wonders too.

The everyday t hings you do will show when it really counts. If you have a tendency to be careless about everyday matters, you cannot expect to perform well at crucial times.
