Monday blues/jazz

Good morning everyone.. last night ensuring I stayed off my leg so that I can safely go out this morning for an appointment, I treated myself to an evening of “tunes”.. like in the “old days” when I loved just kicking back and listening to music. Now with the internet and YouTube we can browse to our hearts content and find the musicians and music we want in as many flavours as we want. Here are two videos you can listen to if you are in the mood for some good sax…. =^_^=

Tell yourself “things happen” Even if something is inconvenient once you accept it, you’ll be able to move onto the next step

Sunday -strolling thru

Because (update) I had a bit of a set back yesterday, I will be off my leg for another while. I was thrilled when I saw Num had posted the above pictures, this is where I want to be.. I so much want to be back wandering the woodlands..Sooooo I am being good, and practicing patience as best I can to ensure the leg heals. My new camera is heavy, and the terrain I like to wander is on the rugged side.. current mantra is patience girl, patience.

I will be doing a blog on the Sax on the Beach venue I attended (virtually) later today or tomorrow to show you some of the talent I got to see and enjoy, I will post to my Virtual news 8 blog, SEE LINK. Please subscribe to it for news on the event and other venues and entertainment news from SL (Second Life) It is an opportunity for you to enjoy and get to know about people from all over the world through their creativity and talents. All from the comfort of your home. https://virtualnws8.ca/

My friend Shirley in NZ visited the most wonderful attraction in Denniston of an old coal mine. I’m going to share some of her pictures here for you to enjoy.

Where ever you are in the world, this is a wonderful time of the year, the cooler air is exciting, it brings with it the winds of change, and therefore we have new discoveries to explore. Through the adventures of my friends who like myself like to wander and explore, through my blog I try to share with you the awesome world we live in. In Shirley’s pictures I could envision how the coalfields must have looked back when it was operational, the hive of activity, the human energy it required to function.

We (as a people) have come such a long way, the history of our past, the trials, the hardships, the joys and the new discoveries are all part of what we have to thank for, where we are today.

With the new season soon to be with us, let’s strive to be better at being open to new ideas, new possibilities, and remember to give thanks for where we have been, and the people/ancestors who paved the way for us.

With one thought “the World” will change, it begins with US.

Love you all. Till soon

Don’t give up! Keep at it until you accomplish What you’ve started. The key to achieving something is to stick to it. If you are able to continue something from start to finish you will be sure to accomplish it no matter how difficult the task is.

cuteness and determination

taken by Michel Lanthier, Ottawa

When I saw this picture that Michel took I knew I had to share it, (he said OK) isn’t it a heart-breaker. Michel is a wildlife photographer here in the Ottawa area, many of his pictures are stunning, but this one… it had a WOW factor I couldn’t resist. Especially as you all know a family of racoons has been trying to redo the feeders at one location, and doing a rather good job of it… I arrived at the feeders yesterday to find that the bicycle is now in two pieces.. sigh.

This is why I began to research early what will work over the coming winter season. These past weeks I have seen possibilities, but of course, the birds who will spend most of the winter months in the area, have not started to arrive. Presently there is a different clientele =^_^=

Don’t think overly about people. Instead of being excessively concerned about others, focus on what you should do.

Value your Intuition. When you suddenly have an “a-ha” moment, or when a thought pops into your mind, it is God sending you a message. As soon as you notice something, you should act upon it right away.

This last quote is one that I try hard to practice daily, To do so, I have to also practice, “stillness” “listening” and “patience”. It is a habit to rush, to be busy, to be on the go. I am much better now, but at one time I had a day timer and it was used every day, I scheduled, planned and wrote in it every day.. Now, I seldom use one at all. Every day is a new beginning, every day we get a chance to start a new canvas or revisit an old one.. but it is a day of possibilities. My husband’s motto was always “seize the day” =^_^= He did his best to do so till the day he passed on…

No one ever said life would be easy.. but it is always interesting and AND.. FULL OF LOVE!

When we live with love in our hearts, it spreads into the world around us… =^_^=

walking in the rain WET

I have walked in the rain before, but this time I got soaked. REALLY soaked, I now know what it is like to be soaking wet. I was able to protect the camera with a doggie poop bag. but the rest of me even though I had a lite rain jacket on, hat and my hood over the hat.. got wet right through. I marvel at how wonderful it was, the sound of the rain falling hard at times, and then letting up, but not stopping… even where a tall tree would in the past have given some shade, there was no reprieve from the falling rain drops.

There was no going back I had already started on the boardwalk, (it is a 1 way) and if I am to be honest with myself, I wanted the experience, the young families I’d met on my way down to the walkway, would be safe and snug in their cars by now.. I basically had the place to myself. The rain was hard enough, there were no birds singing or chattering in the trees, and none of the small animals were scurrying looking for food. Everyone had taken cover. The two wild turkeys that I met earlier, that sauntered down the middle of the road, causing me to actually stop so that they could get ahead of me.. then just coast along behind them, were likely on their way home before the rain.. and they too were likely sheltered somewhere.

Only the human was out =^_^= strolling along the now very wet boardwalk. The wooden planks glistened with the water, the drops danced off the boards and rolled along to the edges or pooled in the small crevices and cracks.

No one can take away the joy you get from putting your whole heart into something. The joy you feel when you’ve put your all into something is yours and yours alone. Nobody can take that away from you.

Will there be consequences.. likely, I was cold by the time I got home and was able to get out of the wet clothes. Even a hot shower didn’t take the chills away. I did make myself a warm lunch, and now will go wrap myself in a warm fleece blanket. LOL when I removed all the items from the many pockets of my hiking gear, guess what I found.. a plastic poncho still in its brand new sealed bag.

I’ll leave you with a photo of my latest post card.

take care, stay safe… c ya soon.

oh NO

What happens, is I don’t get to walk, and the birds and the wee animals …they all take time to visit other places in the woods.

Strive to overcome obstacles by changing your mind-frame. things don’t always go as planned. When that happens, try changing how you look at the situation or how you are doing things. The outcome is in your hands.

It actually worked out.. with the filming crew at the site, it gave me time to come back early and do work that needed doing here at the house. I did catch up with a friend, and we did get to work on a project that needed doing. We hadn’t planned it, but life just presented us with the right ingredients. And had my day not been rescheduled for me, I wouldn’t have had time to have a “coffee break” with another friend. There you go! life is good! Not at all what I had planned and expected, but worked out even better, because I got to share it with friends.

old and new

Product I’d ordered by Tim Holtz arrived, Tim’s Distress texture pack, Grave texture paste and crypt paste.. =^_^= can you tell its almost October.. I’ve begun my fall projects. Steampunk, grunge, here I come.. Not forgetting Thursday Doors, I got pictures of the doors at the new location. Plus some I got when I was in Westport.

So many of you have been trying to find the building, knowing what to look for will make it easier for you, it is the 3rd entrance on the right when you turn down the road into Plantagenet. Check their web pages, stay tuned on FB with them.

The other doors are from the trip to Westport. the top right door, the one that is peeling is on the building next to Scrap en Masse.. Isn’t it interesting.. wonder what is inside?

Be very careful about doing things you really like. Do everything in moderation. when you overdo, you’ll lose your balance.

dining in/out

this is dining out for”les filles”
a hopeful dinner at the feeders (NumOttawa)

It is a treat to get out these days, for so long our restaurants were not open, then it was only the patios, now there is more choice. Not all hospitality business’s made it through the last 1.5 plus year. I have begun to think of the coming winter season. Currently in our area, we are experiencing very high heat, we’ve had weather alerts almost every other day, if not every day. When my sister lives in the States, they have had fires to content with, air quality a serious matter.

I was asked the other day how come I am always taking things to the “Goodwill” (charities) – over the years I have accumulated a lot of things that I no longer require .. with the passing of my husband 3 years ago, my life changed, How much one’s life changes can only be known by “living it” Fortunately due to my husband’s condition we had time to prepare, and he was able to help me make decisions that prepared me for this “journey” I’m on now.

Every time I take something away, yes it is perfectly still good, or it was never used, I remind myself that I don’t need it, and there are people out there that can make use of whatever it is I’m passing along.

There was a song I don’t remember it well enough to find it again, but it was about, a woman who saved her best “lingerie” for that special occasion, and then, tragedy struck and there was no need for the “lingerie”… you get my drift…. life is to be lived, and it is not material things that create happy.

..yesterday I heard a friend sing. I never knew he sang, but sing he did… it was fun and he performed it well, it brought smiles, it was a feel good performance. I learned something new about my friend, that he had the confidence and the willingness to do something so different from his usual presentation was inspiring, His audience loved it.. it brought smiles. He made people smile, what a gift.

I love learning something new about a friend, it encourages me to be a better person myself, friendships are treasures to be cherished.

Material things hold no value, unless it is something you want .. need and use. Friendships on the other hand, are priceless, and enrich our lives in forever ways.

I prayed, I reached out, the Universe provided. the power of prayer is amazing.

This tree in the woodlands on a trail I frequent, stands tall .. towering over the other trees, I can always see it in the distance as I make my way on the trail. I was struck with how it just seems to float in the sky, I’ve taken a picture of it almost every time I am there. This obviously means I have lots of pictures of it against the sky, yet I never seem to share this view when I sit down to visit with you.
