when white is the colour of the day

choice – spend time outside or inside

snow is pristine and beautiful against the contrasting bark on the trees

I wrote this back in the late 70’s… found it today while looking for something else.

Freedom is – a state of mind
Through each moment of the day
We experience, joy, happiness, sadness, anticipation and frustrations.
Emotions, are part of our core
With each breath comes an emotion
How we cope and accept, encounters and interactions with others…
is how much freedom we allow ourselves …
in our journey through life.
To see fragments of life shatter before you
in a glittering array – transcending joy
a new dawning.

It is interesting to see how I captured my thoughts then, & to reflect on them, I think I still see life much the same way… will have to give it more thought though,

I like the contrast of the snow and the quiet moment of reflection in my beach house .. in the virtual world, the weather is always comfortable no matter where we visit, or the terrain we travel. In this world of constant change, we are gifted with new adventures and back drops for our “stories” and “travels”… the newness, the constant discoveries of what IS… makes for a world of wonder. Ours to discover !!!

As I sat and pondered the beautiful scene before me, I meditated on the shadows dancing across the unbroken blanket of pristine snow. It was so peaceful for me, yet I was sitting in a parking lot in the middle of the “green belt”.. cars were driving in, people were looking for a place to park, it would soon be time for me to vacate and let someone else enjoy this wonderland I’ve discovered. From my little space behind the car, I could hear the conversations as couples, families emerged from their cars.

Communication is so important .. it always has been, over the days, months I’ve been visiting the woodlands, I have been privy to conversations that have been going on around me. Snatches here and there as people pass me on their way into the interior of the woodlands. What one becomes very aware of as one matures, is that not all conversations are productive, or actually even engaged in. When we have conversations, we tend to connect with friends/acquaintances in different ways, the ambience, the person we are engaging with all lend to how we communicate. How much we actually engage, and what we retain and integrate into our/that “moment”

The couples in particular that arrive together, tend to have a different “vibe” then the friends arriving in different cars, meeting up at the park. When I first started this “journey” I didn’t think I would be embarking on an adventure, but I have been. Getting out every day, meeting and talking to new people has expanded my horizons, brought newness into my life, the energy and creative possibilities that I had not had available to me before, are now many.

Quality time spent with a friend/partner is always rewarding. Even a few minutes, a day. Make time to listen, to engage, to encourage, be encouraged, be aware of the energies that are part of your every day. Simple moments, honest words, sharing dreams even the mundane… quality time either by yourself or with another is priceless.

The peaceful setting of the shadows blending and creating wordless beauty on the fresh blanket of snow, is as powerful as the private moment spent with a loved one, when no words are needed, just the closeness and understanding true friendship spawns.

Love is Life… Life is Loving. We are all ONE,,,

With the sun shining even brighter these past few days, I did get myself a camp chair, and I did sit in the sun today, basking in the warmth of the sunlight on my face. It was cozy, it was comfortable, I thought I might not enjoy it because the camp chair is one that folds like an umbrella, and isn’t high on my back. Never-the-less.. it was great. I truly enjoyed just sitting there, my coat open, the sun on me… no cares, no worries, just allowing the moment to happen. I parked at the end away from where people were parking to go walk/snowshoe, or X-country .. and away from the feeders. My car is compact, I could park and allow space behind the car for me to sit unnoticed.. facing the field of snow…. and just BE. AWESOME!

Thursday’s magic

To say it was was a picture perfect day, would be an understatement. It was magical. The trees were bowed under with the snow .. I was glad I had made the effort to get to the feeders. It was rather fun to put my hood up and then reach up and shake snow off the heavily laden branches so that the tree could raise itself up again. I managed some of the branches, not all, a few were just too heavily burdened, and too high for me to get at where I could shake and be productive.

I did get to clear the feeders tho’ and replace seed in the ones that had been depleted … It was interesting that a few of the birds found I was being a tad too slow and almost shoved me along or landed on my arm and tried to reach down and take the seeds/nuts from my container. The area where I sit was in an area that was covered by heavily snow laden branches.. I cleared the space and sat anyway, I simply put up my hood so that the wet snow wouldn’t cause a chill on my head. I’m surprising even myself at how I am adapting to being otudoors. I told one reader, I am thinking I’d like to have a folding lawn chair in the car, so I can just sit and bask in the warmth of the sun… away from the feeders.. but where I can still hear them chatting away, squabbling or just being cheerful. Why not. Will have to hunt one up.

Thursday doors +

In an old established part of the city I was surprised to find these newer homes.. What I call infill, older homes are sold, and new homes go in that are totally out of step with the other homes in the area. Such is progress. They are nice, just totally of a different character ..

This is where I sat for my morning meditation in the woods, there is a feeder right in front of me. A little chickadee came to sit with me, unfortunately she was so close, she is a little blurred.. but.. I’ll show you anyway, she was inches from me.

I cleared snow from the fallen tree just where this grouping is… I must have sat for 15,20 minutes… just taking in the fresh air, sunshine and bird activities. They were few today, even the squirrels seemed to be away on other business.

Through an open door

These days with everyone having to live often in isolation, or in a restricted “bubble”, we often sit behind closed doors. Today China gave us a view of the many moods that play through out the day as she whiles the hours away. She lives in a house of many doors Many days, she sits in her office with the door open, listening for the sounds of the crows, and other birds that fill the daytime skies…. at night she can watch the fireflies and listen for the crickets. We may feel alone at times, but we are NEVER alone. PL Precept # 11 Always be with God.

With one thought, “the World” will change.
Changing your way of thinking will make a difference on how you perceive the world.

Monday smiles
