I admit to being a lazy one today. I got to the beaver pond, and decided to sit down for awhile and wait to see if the beaver(s)would come out. The sun was warm, there was no one around, the wooden planks were so inviting, I took off my padded vest folded it to make a headrest.. and… yup. I lay down right there. Stayed over to the side of the boardwalk so others could get by.. but made myself comfortable, stretched out.. and just let the sun work its magic.
The quiet of the day was soothing. Birds calling, even saw my first butterfly of the season, Today in PL, we celebrated the Day of Peace. Welcome a new month.

Grief is the agony of an instant, the indulgence of grief the blunder of a life.
Benjamin Disraeli
Loss is painful. It’s natural for us to grieve over things we’ve lost. And it takes time to fill the hole left by a loss. The larger t he hole, the longer it takes to fill it. At some point, though, we need to put painful feelings aside sot hat we can get on with the business of living. this doesn’t mean ignoring or forgetting our loss, but, rather recognizing that life is a gift that we have a responsibility to honor. We honor what we have lost as well when we learn from our loss, incorporate it into who we are and move on. Loss is natural and unavoidable. I understand and accept t his.

My very first actual sighting of an owl sleeping in a tree. I can’t tell you the thrill it was for me. This little darling was used to being photographed.. the experienced photographers knew he was there, and most had already taken his/her picture. “kristoff” from Gatineau, was kind enough to point him out for me .. and show me where to stand so that I could get a clear shot. I knew from previous visits that there was an owl in a tree in that area… I had seen others gathered around getting a picture, but always there were so many I just wandered off to other areas.
Yesterday was cooler, and there were less people around. Ground was still muddy (very) from the rain and the snow of the previous days. Please if you know which owl this is.. can you you leave me his/her identification below. Much appreciated.
This was another of my host birds.. this one was at my feet, we just stood looking at one another. She/he patiently waited for me to move aside. I was the intruder.

I’m including this next picture, because, these critters were everywhere, if they could have pulled on pant legs for attention they would. There are big signs all over, not to feed… I simply moved on.. but they were very persistent.

Can you guess where I’m headed as soon as I finish here…. LOL… have a good day everyone..
Today’s church calendar quote…
Are you overdoing things? Not only do you harm yourself when you overdo things but you may be imposing on others as well.

When you are standing in the pouring rain with just your cell phone, you get the shadows, my thanks to the donated photo that I found on the web by Bob Zeller. The birds were unconcerned about me, they were enjoying the rain and the day…
Inspired me to stand and just enjoy their company. The rain came down harder, I was already wet, and enthralled with their company, it was an amazing experience … I knew it was raining, the drops landed and fell around me… the woodland was alive with the song of these birds .. the jays/crows/ravens calling over head as they flew over, the woodpeckers tapping out their morning “groove” as they pecked away at their chosen tree.
There was a moment where the rain, the birds, the surroundings all just became ONE with time. I have no idea how long I was there, it didn’t matter, I was totally engaged.
Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

Yes, I will be going out again this morning to retrace my steps. I know we can’t go back in time, but I can “chase” another “moment” that will become a memory worth remembering.

Yesterday a little weasel ran across my path.. never stopped to say hello, just kept on going, what it had in its mouth, I didn’t want to know anyway… they move fast. Usually I see them in the winter when they are wearing their winter coats.. this one yesterday was dark, and darker at the tail, they are sleek, and mean. The other picture Dan had of this little fellow was one of the weasel and his capture. they are not only fast, they have powerful jaws. -(reminder >> never judge a book by its cover)

Today was my husband’s birthday. When my iPad reminded me (I had not removed it after he passed) I was jarred from a sound sleep to one of sadness. He would have loved walking the path (shown above) somehow I know he’s found peace…

I pass this warrior almost daily… Some days he is on duty, other days if he is there I don’t see him, yet obviously he is always there. In life, that happens often, maybe too often. Working towards being aware, is a full time occupation. With time, the many MUST see/do that occur in one’s life fade, or take on a different priority.
Being a diabetic, there are steps I should take every day. Do I? The honest answer is NO… do I realize that I am in the process of major changes.. that life for me has taken on a different hue, shading if you will, yes .. in the background there is still that AAA personality.. that need to “do”.. to “act” … but with time, there has also been another “voice” that has risen from within.. a gentler voice, a quieter voice, but one that needs hearing non-the-less. By no one else, but me.. I need to listen and let it be heard.
Like the warrior, all the elements of nature that have wrapped or woven energy around me over time, have shaped and left scars, some I can see, and others I may no longer see, but I feel the wound as if it was yesterday.
The ancient tree can no longer return to life as a sapling, his gnarled existence is who and what he is. His many years of life he wears proudly, his scars and open wounds are badges of honour he wears openly for all to see. I a human, can I do the same…?
