I live on an island where my front door opens to this view. I can spend hours watching the water swirl and listen to its song as it makes its way around the rocks. I can even watch the sky as it turns from dawn to dusk…. It is true I can’t get to it every day, but it never leaves my heart or my thoughts. We live alone on this island, there are neighbours on other islands, but we are fortunate in that, living in different time zones, we are seldom on our properties at the same time. This is the beauty of living in a virtual world (smile)

By now, you have if you are a regular to this blog, have read I am moving and have seen the story I shared with you the other day about the “Little House” https://youtu.be/F74CR1uqXFA?si=M4Fxvkml523xj3Al I have heard back from a few of you who took the time to watch the YouTube version of Virginia Lee Burton’s .The Little House. thank you,, I appreciate that you took the time to view it.. it tells the story of what I am living in a very poignant way.

For days now I have been going through photos, correspondence etc that accumulates when you have lived in one house for over 25 years. The faces of friends now long gone, or living in “space and time”. It had been tedious and long.. my hands ache at night from the constant pulling, and tearing of papers for recycling. But … in all the frustrations and challenges, I have found happy moments seeing the faces of people I once worked with, and shared special adventures with.

I am tossing a lot of “stuff” out.. a lot of what can be recycled will go to charities. Leaving 3 levels of living space, to go to a 1.5. apartment is certainly going to be a new adventure. The hardest is knowing that my gardens the green space I have surrounded myself with, will be no more. The animals that alive here …(Outside) will have to find another oasis. There is no doubt that my little house will be razzed to the ground, and with it the vegetation that has sheltered us for years will disappear.

You have all heard me say this before… life is to be lived and enjoyed, don’t squander your moments …. embrace life…. appreciate your friends…. and protect nature as best you can. Reach out to someone you haven’t heard from in awhile.. smile at a stranger… life is precious.

This was taken by my Dad who was an avid photographer, he took the pictures and developed them himself. And it was a time when we could enjoy country sides like this on a hike not far from our home. You guessed right if you thought, not so now…

the little house

I want to thank Eliza for sending me this link… I sure needed it this morning… moving is so hard in many ways I know it is a new beginning… but …. It is a challenge…

I will get through this… I have wonderful friends who have been so thoughtful and helpful. I am blessed to have them in my life. There is an expression, “WE PICK OUR FRIENDS, etc.”

Take care of things as they come to your attention.

When something comes to mind, it is a sign from God. Take care of whatever comes to mind right away.

Have a wonderful day everyone…

what ?

What a hoot!! Let’s see if you can tell which house is mine ?

Ok everyone now knows I’ve put the house up for sale… the once quiet residential area I fell in love with, has become a very different place, with a totally unfamiliar vibe. The real-estate agents listed it yesterday, there is now a sign in my front yard. Thanks Bonnie for looking up the listing for me.

I have had many encouraging messages, for that I thank you, it has been a mouthful for sure. There are a lot of memories associated with the place. When we bought, the property was bare of vegetation. There is a cherry tree that gives an abundance of cherries every spring, and in early spring there is a Saskatoon Berry tree with amazing berries. The birds, love the trees and visiting the property. I will miss them. There is even a rabbit that lives somewhere in the neighbourhood, spends a lot of time in my front yard. (wonder why)

In the back I have a maturing magnolia, maple, evergreen, and an assortment of other small trees and vegetation… In my new place (apartment) I have an outdoor patio, with a hedge .. that will be my greenery. All things must evolve and we must embrace new beginnings.

evolve

Evolve – develop gradually… the birds have landed ..they have taken up residence in a beautiful landscaped private garden.. where they get to hear the water flowing, enjoy the sunshine No more having to deal with cats climbing up/over and around them. they are in the fresh air and will be able to enjoy just being in the moment.

I go and sign the lease today … I’ve booked movers for the 16th. my journey is well underway.

Wednesday

Good Relationships begin by greeting each other.

Acts of respect and courtesy are reflections of how much we value others. Make it a point to be the first to greet your family, people at work and around the neighborhood.

With the selling of the house/property and the season of mosquitos I have not gone out on the trail the past few days.. so I’m giving you a glimpse of a nature trail along the River near Billings.

Have a great day everyone.. Bom dia!!

Leave the past in the past and live fully in the now

Stop living in the past. You can only focus on things that are happening right now in front of you.

Wednesday

There comes a time in everyone’s life when we have to decide to “come” or “go” .. I have decided that after years of being a home owner, I am going to sell and move to a more genteel style of living. I will leave the home owning, and all that goes with it to a younger generation.

Stop Hesitating

It is more natural for you to be direct and say what is on your mind. Holding back or hesitating is unnecessary.

Your continued efforts will bring happiness

Persevere without giving up. This will lead to great joy in life.

I realized the other day that there is a small bunny living in my front yard. I left it (the front area) to grow however it would in nature, took out lawn and put in ground cover and let the wild flowers grow for the bees etc. I will miss the property, but it is time to leave what had once been a quiet community to the new concrete modern square office like homes that are taking over. Small living spaces, no outside gardens/lawns, just paved/concrete paths, and very very small patches of green.

The only constant in life is change.

There is a Saskatoon Berry tree and a cherry tree in front that offer up a bounty of fruit for the neighbours that used to do jams etc. I expect they will be bulldozed… a shame, but in today’s world it is called progress.

Cheers everyone, till soon.

Turkey talk

I’m listening – really? – showing off – had enough

They really do have personalities, and days when they are social and other days when they want to just “chill”… they really do know how to show off tho’ and that is always fun to watch. (formatting was being difficult, hope that the captions line up when I hit publish.

Let’s interact proactively with an ever-changing society

Society is always rapidly changing with the times. Keep your eyes and mind in tune with these changes and learn to deal with them proactively.
