Should you have picked Pub 101, this is a sampling of the delicious food you can enjoy while visiting the establishment, It has good reviews and is situated in the heart of the tourist area in downtown Ottawa. just saying, should anyone be hungry =^_^=
For the writers in the group, each one of the above doors tells a story. Some doors were found in the States, the rest are in Canada … There isn’t anywhere one can go without finding an “interesting” door.
Hmmmm .. these appeared on my desk…. I know they are for something or other, and that they insert into my PC thing on my desk. The fact that they had been taped so carefully to the top of the file cabinet next to me, means that I didn’t want to loose them. A puzzle to start the day. Oh look a word with two z’s in it. hmmmm can I use that in “Words with Friends” probably not, I don’t recall ever seeing more than one Z when I’ve been playing. I’m beginning to sound like a humming bird.
Because I found these two items, does that mean that they were lost?
Since my desk was moved, my light doesn’t work…. hummm was the cord somehow unplugged, or is the bulb broken??? Darn it could be “one of those days”
“”light bulb” I found a wireless keyboard the other day… I wondered then, how would I get it to work if I wanted to use it… hmmmm would one of these thing a-ma bobs… talk to the keyboard… I wonder….
I think… I will keep Precept #16 in my mind…. ALL THINGS PROGRESS AND DEVELOP
and if EACH MOMENT IS A TURNING POINT Precept #18 I will wait for Precept #19 BEGIN ONCE YOU PERCEIVE to deal with these two objects.
I ask you, is this a form of procrastination? or is it my mind being lazy?
Like these footprints in the snow, what we do each day makes an impression that will last only as long as that moment in time allows. As we move forward in life continue to break new ground.

It is important to say “thank you”. Everything that appears in front of you is all material for you to improve yourself whether its food, people or things. Learn to accept everything, whether it is something you like or not.
NO, not because one is sad, or out of sorts, nor is it a bad day. It just isn’t a sparkling moment. That warm comfortable zone when you lie half asleep, semi awake….. your precious friend is nestled beside you… breathing softly still in dreamland. when you move, she shifts ever so slightly to maintain that contact.. you can see the sliver of light coming in between the gap in the curtains… It is time to get up. another day is calling.
There is always a solution. Always believe that there is a solution to any problem that comes your way, and work with conviction to solve it.

I ate an oeuf de guimauve – as a diabetic I know better, but as a woman with a tendency to sometimes bend the rules… every year when they first come out and appear on the shelves, beckoning from the displays as we go to the cash, I succumb. I didn’t eat it right away, no I put it aside, saying I will share when a friend comes over..
The halo slipped, and then it fell off completely. I ate the whole thing. all 28g of dark chocolate sugar, unsweetened dark chocolate cocoa butter, milk and……

The last couple of days I have seen wild turkeys out strolling, Yesterday I saw one crossing the road, I slowed to let it get across, it took its time, crossed over, went up over the side snow bank and on into the woods, as casual as you please. Where it entered the woods it was deep, his feet sunk in to the snow, but he just get trucking along. Not a care in the world. I stayed to watch him for awhile, it I wondered if another one would come out to meet him, but no he just sauntered further into the brush. Hope he had a good day.
ice step I chopped today at Dewberry
After my fall yesterday, I went back today with a shovel to dig out and make a step for people to use when going up and over the offending snowbank. It isn’t a masterpiece, but it is functional, and I had the pleasure of watching it being used before I left the site.
waiting and watching – the look out!
Having been very cold for the past couple of days, today when I arrived, the look out saw me coming and the calls went out, by the time I parked the crows were waiting in the trees for me to put out the grub. I still marvel at how they communicate with each other, and then when its time to “come and get it”… they seem to do it in an orderly fashion. There are a lot of them when its a full house.. Today there had to be 3, 4 dozen.. but they kept it orderly.. Truly amazing birds.. (hmmm do I sound a bit biased =^_^=)
I am very pleased to say that more and more I am meeting first time photographers not that they are new, but they have driven from away to come to Dewberry to see the Grosbeaks. The Grosbeaks are beautiful birds, I’m happy to see that they have a following. Seeing these people gather, cameras at the ready make me feel rather “proud”.. I smile to myself.. cuz I know that when I am on my own in the woods, the birds come out and share time with me.. I get to see them up close and personal without binoculars or a high powered lenses.
When I am asked why I go out every day, no matter the weather, there is only one answer, I want to spend time with the birds. No, I am not part of a group, I am on my own, it is my special time.. a time to unwind and re-energize my spirit. There is an energy and a peaceful state that happens, when I am able to simply BE, outdoors surrounded by my feather friends and the small woodland creatures that share the environment with me.

You’re happy, I’m happy. Have the mindset of “good for you, good for me” Express yourself in a way that makes others happy.
While out in the woods today, I fell. I was alone, it was bitterly cold today, there was enough wind to make it cutting if you were not dressed properly, that could be what kept others away, but this morning I had the area to myself. Today I was not far from the parking lot, still it reminded me that I should have had my whistle with me. For some reason this season I have not had a whistle with me, which is something I have always done when out hunting for pictures, especially when in the woods or back country roads on my own. I met Mark when I got to the Mer Bleue trail and asked him if he had a whistle, and no he did not. We chatted on the importance of having a whistle with us… he reminded me to blog about it.. As a wild life/nature photographer he is often way off in the woods on his own, he will pass it on in his blog as well.
Not only wild life, nature photographers go off on their own, I’m sure hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts do also. A whistle is inexpensive and mighty handy if you fall or find yourself “lost” /”confused” in the woods, or anywhere actually. You blow on that whistle, if there is anyone around, they will hear it. I checked on my way home, with both Dollar Tree and Dollarama, neither to my surprise had or sold whistles. I fortunately have several since we always had them with us when we went out, when driving the back roads and exploring off the beaten track. It might be something you would like to consider. For women navigating dark city streets after hours, this is also a handy tool to have handy.
NOW let me tell you about my wonderful “tea party” this morning with my feather friends. I put out my chair and sat, the place was almost empty, I had maybe one or two chickadees but that was it. I just sat .. listening to the trees moaning and groaning as the wind snapped and pushed at them. Then one by one guests arrived. Soon I was surrounded, at one count, I had over 2 dozen Grosbeaks, 6 Blue Jays, 2 male cardinals, 2 female cardinal, 3 downy woodpeckers, a hairy woodpecker and of course the wee ones. We were all happily communing when who should pop up and run up to me and then past me..the little ermine.. only now instead of being all white except for the very light lime green colour on his bottom half, he was almost all that colour.. this is confusing me. I have searched for picture or for info. on why the green tint to his fur.. if anyone knows.. please send me a message.
OK.. that’s it for now. I’m so excited about my visit with the birds this morning.. I need to take a breather, close my eyes and relive the experience.
It is not just another crow! I’ll have you know that I have now begun to identify the different ones that come to the “diner’ when I feed. LOL not maybe on a personal basis, but I am beginning to note the regulars.. and find it kind of fun.. that when I watch them, come and go during the “feeding” I can see the ones that have the discriminating taste, ie. they will pick up something and decide ..no it is too big, or not to their fancy and move on.. The watcher who will stand back and take in what is laid out and then go after what he/she decides it wants.
The birds at Dewberry are also becoming more familiar to me, There are the females who will come and eat before I leave the feeder, the males who watch from a distance, ,plan their strategy, then by different routes they will advance and plan their landing, where a feeder is and how easily it is to get to and land with confidence. A sloppy landing means that the bird already at the “table” will not leave or move over. there are several of the female Gross Beaks who will now casually have their snack and visit with me.. they actually make eye contact and chew slowly almost smile. One the other day, moved over to a branch and just chirped at me softly. staying with me till I moved to adjust something at another feeder.
There are crows there too, but they pay me no heed. In fact they have nothing to do with me. I am learning that their are “murders” of them at Mer Bleue too, they apparently come and chase everyone away at the very start of the day, I’ve yet to be there when they have been there. However I have seen the results of one of their raids at Dewberry, I wondered how things got so turned upside down and vandalized. Now I know… the dining areas are raided by the crows. =^_^=
