Some days just happen. Today when you look, the light frost and snow will be everywhere, give it another hour or two, and……………. who knows what you will find,
I am thinking I might try a slice of dark Christmas fruit cake with a slice of Gouda cheese.
Recently went looking for Santa, in days of “old” at this time of year, people were searching out Christmas cheer. Merchants had their shops brimming with decorations and seasonal goodies, Xmas parades were happening, social get togethers were planned, even the church basements were being decorated for members to enjoy when they gathered for coffee and cake (social hour)
In touring around, I see or saw little of this merriment that once would just have been part of the day. Yes there are homes with decorations, and some of the stores have put up holiday decorations, but I’m not feeling the vibe. “Jolly Santa” and his crew of woodland creatures and elves seem to have faded into “never never land”
Instead of the spirit of the holidays being shared and delighted in, if you turn on the radio or watch the telly, the air is blue, gray and black. Yes there are patches of magic here and there, but it is not everywhere.
A little fantasy is good for everyone.. let’s try to recapture some of the magic of the holidays, in spite of what “some’ would have us think and do.
Make Today a different day. Instead of doing the same old thing, be creative and do things to improve your day.

Reminder – tomorrow December the 5th, will be the first anniversary of our 3rd founder’s passing. There will be a special ceremony and service at the church at 10 a.m. If you are able to attend, please do so, otherwise offer a silent prayer from home. In Japan there will be a special ceremony at the SEICHI in honour of Osieoyasama.
Does light filter through an unwashed window… yes it does… With the days shorter, and the nights longer, on sunny days when the sunlight streams through the sunroom windows, the room takes on a dazzling delight of coloured rays that give the room a festive quality – yes that is one the delights of the winter months in my home. From the moment I walked into the house those many years ago, the sunroom with all its windows was a “magical” room. Each home should have such a room, We never utilized the room as a functional room, I always decorated and used it as a “canvas” or “feeling” room.
I never wavered from this delight I have in the room. I often will just sit at the fining room chair and just look out the window (this one chair faces the sunroom and its many windows) Its a view I get when emerging from the area of the house where the bedroom and my studio are located, I marvel just catching a glimpse as I walk from one area of the house to another.
Do you have a special nook or area of your home that holds a special meaning to you and you alone? No reason or rhyme, just because…..
It’s okay to think “this is where it starts” There is always a turning point. It’s important what you do from now.

Being sidelined these past weeks has meant that I have had plenty of time to visit and revisit some of my creative endeavors that I’ve played around with over the last couple of months. In particular it has given me time to work on the Christmas greetings that I have to have ready to send over seas. The new year is fast approaching, and if mail (snail) is to get overseas in time for the holidays, I need to meet the postal deadlines set by our postal system to ensure that mail will arrive on time. Last year there was a huge rush and a lot of delays depending on the country you were mailing to. Check with your local postal authorities for the deadlines this year.
We are all wonderful in our own way. Although results are important, your effort is what is truly precious.

Sometimes an overcast day provides the best natural lighting to evoke a mood or an ambiance that is soothing and calm…..
Anyone coming to my house can expect soft food. I finally had my appointment with the oral surgeon who did his “thing” on me back in April. Today he opened up the healed wound to insert screws… At long last I’m a step closer to the final steps. No candy or hard food for the next while, he’s put me back on a “soft” diet.. Pumpkin pie is soft, right!!! ice cream and whipped cream…
Do things joyfully instead of taking it easy. Enthusiastically engage with what’s in front of you. You’ll enjoy it more.
OK virtual worlds are not for everyone, but.. let me tell you, laid up, not able to get out and get around by myself right now.. being able to visit the fun creativity of Halloween themed parks is super Fun. Not only do we have fun, get to meet new friends, we can explore and listen to great music, both live and hosted by DJ’s who have extensive knowledge of the music genre you like.
I know that every year the decorating and hauntings are becoming more and more festive, in and out of virtual. What will be doing, have you got plans… will you dress up, is your home/office/school decorated. For me I’ve already started with the pumpkin pie, turkey, dressings and all the fixings that go with the cooler season and the holidays associated with it.
Be very careful about doing things you really like. Do everything in moderation. When you overdo, you’ll lose your balance
Because (update) I had a bit of a set back yesterday, I will be off my leg for another while. I was thrilled when I saw Num had posted the above pictures, this is where I want to be.. I so much want to be back wandering the woodlands..Sooooo I am being good, and practicing patience as best I can to ensure the leg heals. My new camera is heavy, and the terrain I like to wander is on the rugged side.. current mantra is patience girl, patience.

My friend Shirley in NZ visited the most wonderful attraction in Denniston of an old coal mine. I’m going to share some of her pictures here for you to enjoy.
Where ever you are in the world, this is a wonderful time of the year, the cooler air is exciting, it brings with it the winds of change, and therefore we have new discoveries to explore. Through the adventures of my friends who like myself like to wander and explore, through my blog I try to share with you the awesome world we live in. In Shirley’s pictures I could envision how the coalfields must have looked back when it was operational, the hive of activity, the human energy it required to function.
We (as a people) have come such a long way, the history of our past, the trials, the hardships, the joys and the new discoveries are all part of what we have to thank for, where we are today.
With the new season soon to be with us, let’s strive to be better at being open to new ideas, new possibilities, and remember to give thanks for where we have been, and the people/ancestors who paved the way for us.
