It is not often I allow myself the luxury of picking these delicious delights up, but after last night I felt I deserved something special. If anyone knows what the country of origin is for these tasty morsels I would appreciate it if you could let me know. I came across them about a year or so ago, there was a package on sale at a local specialty food shop … I thought why not… I was feeling adventurous.. I was not prepared for just how much I would enjoy them. I suspect they are laden with calories.. so I don’t allow myself the luxury, especially when prices have gone up so much. I eat them cold right out of the packaging. (they are found in the fresh food deli section .)
What happened last night. Grief,, sorrow, delayed reaction to the loss of my precious Canaille.
Canaille was a Porti (Portuguese Water Dog) who stole my heart the moment I met her. She and I bonded like nothing I had ever experienced before. We went everywhere together, she was my constant companion, My husband graciously allowed her to sleep with us, he knew there was no parting us.
When he was diagnosed with terminal cancer with only a very limited time to live, I rushed home to get documents they needed at the hospital and get personal items he needed. When I got home, she was having a stroke… I rushed her to the vet… and… well… you know the rest… it was a devasting day for me, but I needed to move forward. I never had time to properly grieve for her… Then recently a friend sent me pictures he found on an old disk I had given him… the above picture was what he sent me… Its been 8 years but the blinding grief, hit me so suddenly it was like it happened yesterday. We can’t go back, life moves on… but …. the hurt, the sorrow, the stabbing reality of the loss …. has shaken me to the core.
Life is fleeting, please… don’t squander time with loved ones… cherish the moments you get to hold them, share time with them… when its gone, there is nothing left but the memory.

It is easy to misinterpret the situation and jump to conclusions. Always have a humble attitude and double check to make sure.

We’ve had a warm spell, snow, rain, freezing rain, and now.. forecast is temperatures to dip back to more normal temps.. -11 degrees… fun! Be careful out there.
So many time I see kindness, passers by moving aside when they see you are carrying a heavy bag of groceries, wait patiently while an elderly person is crossing a busy lane in a parking lot, or a mother with children is wanting to move the children along when they are blocking an aisle by being “children”. What I don’t see, is a nod of thanks.. or even a smile that the kindness happens/happened.
We are all living in a world that has become indifferent to the hurry up attitude, or demanding schedules that keep us constantly on the move. I know… life gets busy, life happens, and we all have deadlines or places we have to be. Many of us function at times on auto-pilot, it happens. May I take this opportunity to ask you… myself included in this reminder… say thank you more often, and smile, nod, recognize that we are not alone trying to maneuver in this hectic day to day of modern living. A smile can change someone’s day…. even if is for a moment.

Smiles and laughter can be a balm on an “off” day.
Don’t give up! Stick with it, as many times as it takes
Sometimes you want to just throw in the towel and say, “I give up” but, that’s the time for you t dig deep and push through. Your sincere effort will invite a good outcome.
My sentiments. I have had this lingering cold/flu now for almost 6 weeks, maybe even more.. Who knows anymore, and who cares… I guess I do. However on the bright side… I have had a lot of REST if not always fitful. Come to think of it… In looking back, I don’t think I’ve had a real bout of “sickness” in recent years, So I guess I should consider this a positive. My body must have been or has been in need of R E S T … In my “awake” times, I have noticed that the cats are aware of my comings and goings.
For instance, I discovered that YouTube has these cat/dog videos.. Before leaving for my morning ritual of nature walks (a way of saying, I go into the woodland I favour to spend time with the birds) I started to put on the telly for them (since moving into an apartment)(reasoning that when I had the house they had 3 floors to run around in and explore)… I started out just putting on Asian music, soothing … calming… (I enjoyed it right) but one day I saw that there was a video for cats.. with birds and animals, nature sounds, running water, feeders…. well … instantly I had two very interested felines perched on the end of the massage table.. totally fascinated. So I now have two cats who when they see me getting ready to go out, wait for me to open the magic window. Amazing.. my cats have discovered technology.

Ps. for those of you who knew /know that I have been after the free Genus head being offered in SL (Second Life) Today was my lucky day, I succeeded in getting the female head at 5 a.m. my time… (2 a.m. SL time).. they had such a tremendous response, their vendor went down, I did get the male head the first day I knew about the offer and went in to try my luck. I will do a write up on the head later in/on my Virtual Blog. Meanwhile if you want to see the male, I have posted his picture on my Flickr page. (grid status .. there were over 30,000 people online at the time.) (offer was limited for only so many days)

Good Morning everyone…
The picture above, was taken by local nature photographer Dan Cadieux, https://www.instagram.com/dancadphotography I have known Dan now for many years, we run into each other in/on the nature trails in the area. He knows of my love and friendship with crows. He shared this picture with me, that he took a few years back. It was taken on a day when the temperatures were just above zero degrees, it was a fall morning, the wasps were semi-dormant…. his patience and quiet determination got him this great photo… Isn’t it fabulous. If you love nature, and like pictures that show case the nature around us, please give Dan’s photo gallery a look. He has a unique way of presenting his finds….. I’ve seen him lying in the mud on the side of the road * camera focused on a puddle where robins are bathing for hours if need be to get just the picture he wants… thanks Dan for sharing your amazing talent with us….
