Good morning! Bom dia amigos, desejo a todos uma semana maravilhosa…. what a week! Where is the month of July going.. the other day I saw a hint of colour in the palette of greens. That tell tale sign of a rosy blush that will soon turn to red.. Our wandering photographer Ian Mitchell was on one of his “expeditions” when he took the above pictures while in the Gatineau Park. (on the Quebec side of the river) Twice I tried to find my way there only to be turned back by road closers. My known routes have been shut down due to a number of reasons, (last few years these changes have crept in un-noticed by moi) now to get there I’m told I have to travel a different route, using highways and going through towns that are out of the way (for me).

Why has this proved to be such a “chore” for me.. I have no idea. I guess because it was more or less in my backyard before, and now to get there I have to travel east, cross a different bridge, and make my way north via a super highway, it has lost its flavour… Nature was minutes away, aaahhhh says my inner voice, “you forget” that was before expansions, populations growth, new subdivisions, blah, blah.. blah. Ian ‘s hobby (one of them) is craft beers…maybe I need a new hobby to encourage more travel outside of my comfort zone.

Another friend actually got me out of the house to go for dinner last night. Whooo hoooo catchoooo, no cooking, no clearing up after, no dishes… all I had to do was walk to the buffet islands and fill my plate. Servers brought warm/hot towels prior to the meal, and after..(for wiping of sticky fingers and patting lips of excess sauces etc.) The meringue on the lemon pie was almost 2 inches high. yum….

Think of the timing before you say.. ” but…” When stating your opinion, make sure you are being respectful of others’ opinions. Be mindful of this when you speak

Tanabata is based on the legendary meeting of two stars, Hikoboshi and Orihime, which are represented by Altair and Vega, respectively. After his marriage to Orihime, Hikoboshi idled away and didn’t work. An angry god split Hikoboshi and Orihime apart from the two banks of the Milky Way. However the god permitted Hikoboshi and Orihime to reunite once a year on July 7. So Tanabata is held on that day every year, and it is said to be the day lovers can reunite. (translated from Japanese to English in Japan)

The romantic in me loves that there is a day set aside for “lost love/s/ers” There is always a place in my heart for someone who has brought me pleasure, shown me kindness, taken time to get to know me, spend time with me. In today’s “throw away” society/culture, we often forget that each moment we live/experience life… that moment is etched in our “being”. To know sadness, we have had to have experienced happiness. Love is in every breath we take, it is like the air we breathe. Unseen but ever present.

anyone remember

Good morning.. everytime I see this little beauty I try to recall its name??? and the story about it. It is an old timer been around for ages.. Can anyone remember what it is called or what it was used for? It is a plant found along country roads..at least here, it is not a plant that is cultivated…

I have a few doors from one of my recent drives. Not spectactular, but they have purpose and being a door, they always need to be “admired”… these are solid.. and very useful in their purpose. They are on a main street, and I felt they commanded authority. =^_^=

Friends had to wait two years to finally get away on their “anniversary cruise”. To say they know me rather well would be an understatement. The storm and the after the storm moments are still happening. It will be awhile before the world feels right again. Please be kind to one another, help others if you can.. be strong and remember how resilient you are. This is what I myself am working on.

May the stars carry your sadness away. May the flowers fill your heart with beauty. May hope forever wipe away your tears…. and…. above all, may silence make you strong.

It can be very healing to allow ourselves to feel our thoughts/sadness fully. I look for my solace in nature. Being in nature, reminds me that everything including sadness, eventually passes.

noticing now

I woke with too many thoughts running through my head. So much so, I wanted to turn over and pull the covers up over my head. Then I remembered that today was the 21st. and a day for giving thanks for the blessings in my life. Followed by that thought came the reminder that my late husband’s birthday is this week-end.

These doors are on campus in Japan (PL headquarters Foreign Student building). We would roll out the futons at night to sleep, and then roll them back up during the day.

I think I may have a fuddled day. My thoughts seem to be drifting from one place to another. This next picture was in Quebec. (top picture too)

Maybe I will just stay where ever my day takes me… and say thank you for whatever comes my way.

Thank you thank you thank you… Let’s live with gratitude towards everyone and everything all day today.

Sorry folks, I’ll just say thank you.. and log off.. the grey cells are just not wanting to activate. As I continue on with my day, I’ll remember that every moment is an opportunity to practice (mindfulness) and be aware that – this too shall pass….

Thursday Doors

I had a day yesterday that didn’t start out well. I got hit by a taxi backing out of the lane across from where I live. Smacked right into the passenger side of my car. NOT happy. The driver had two children in the car, I heard her calling in to her dispatch, she looked both ways, she didn’t know where I came from?? hello… that is why cars have rear view mirrors … I had come out of my laneway and was on the road, ready to drive away. Because she was at fault, my insurance is handling all the details, but I will have to take the car for an estimate etc. blaaaaaa…..

Having said that, I wanted an escape.. I remembered this picture that Shirley had taken, with the red door, isn’t it the perfect little get-away… hmmm hope it has running water and electricity.. LOL I might like to escape, but I do love my creature comforts.

Thursday doors 3.24.22

couldn’t resist taking this door again when I saw it. loved it the first time I saw it some time back.

Pouring rain here today, glad we got out for a drive Monday in sunshine. We ate at a restaurant that is on the water’s edge, I like the food there, and love watching the rushing water while I enjoy a companionable visit with a friend and feed the taste buds. I have never seen this kind of door anywhere else but at this restaurant. The other doors were found along the side streets on our way into the little town.

Have a great day everyone. I am feeling a bit like the doors today .. been around awhile, still function, but tired and a shade worn. LOL its called “character”
