Geraniums are one of the most recognizable summer flower, actually they are pelargoniums, technically perennials, mostly known as annuals. They originate in hot climate. home gardeners prize them as a container plant. Did you know that there is a geranium essential oil? It is said, it can promote emotional balance, support skin health and aid in hormonal balance.

It is also know for its antibacterial, anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has been used to repel insects and has a pleasant floral scent. The oil has been used to treat health conditions for centuries. There is scientific date indicating that it may be beneficial in a number of conditions. *Always check with a doctor before using if you intend to substitute any oil to replace prescribed treatments.

Like Geraniums… people are like flowers, their outward appearance is not “who they are”.. you can’t tell what is inside a book by looking at the cover.

We have a similar structure in the Gatineau Park (McKenzie King Estate) When I saw this picture I was immediately reminded of the many times I wandered the grounds in the Gatineau Hills.( Province of Quebec).. admiring the views and trying to imagine what it must have been like when the former Prime Minister lived in the hills, and had the remains of fallen ruins in Europe brought over and rebuilt here so we could enjoy the architecture another time and place. The above picture was taken in the state of Pennsylvania.

I have not ventured into the Gatineau Hills since before the pandemic… I did try a few times, but the NCC has made changes to what roads are open and when. (National Capital Commission).. Every time I tried, the roads I wanted to used were closed for one reason or another. Guess what after a couple of tries I simply found other places to go. I’d already been and done the drives over the many years I’ve lived in the area… it was time to discover new places, the world is a big place.

The outdoors are green and lush, but we’ve had forest fires in the northern part of the Provinces with all the high heat we’ve had. We have been advised that the extreme heat will continue for at a good 5 days. If you are also experiencing this heat wave that is working its way across the continent, please take care.

More cards done. The seasons will soon change, October, Goblins and ghouls, November, Thanksgiving and December, Festive holidays. I am pacing myself, and doing them in stages… There are times, I have had to go all out and focus on a getting a lot done in a short time. Handmade cards in the tourist cafes are popular.

Give importance to listening, looking, thinking doing and speaking

Look and listen carefully before making a judgment. Assumptions and hasty conclusions can lead to misunderstandings.

Happiness is getting one more project done. Needed to top up the inventory of cards that the church supplies a couple of “places” in the city. Having just moved, could I find some of my supplies.. of course not… Being a long time card maker and multi media expressionist, I have gotten used to using the quality of inks etc. from Art Supply stores. When I came to use inks.. guess what I couldn’t find. I decided to try a package of inks offered for children’s activities. Hello World! they worked just fine for the cards..

The other challenge I’ve been given is a new parking spot …Suffice to say the jury is still out if I can maneuver the car into the sardine space. There is a difference of 80$ a month. Psst .. send encouragement !!!!!

Today is a brand new day!

Last night the TBX (Trow Boa Experience) played a debut performance of a full set of originals (Cuban vibe) from the extensive list of original music by musician and performer, Trow Boa. The Trow Boa personna emerged some 18 plus year ago in the online game, Second Life. The man himself Trow Boa is a long time musician in every day life, who has had 35 + years in the world of music. He plays professionally in and around his home State, and has appeared Nationally and Internationally .. not to mention the many students he has taught who have gone on to excel in their own right in the music industry.

The man has dedicated his passion for the saxophone into a way of expression that delights and pleases his audiences. He plays as regularly in SL as his time allows. It has been fun to watch his progress, and how he uses his love for the music he plays to expand his personal inventory of original music. He uses his gift to not only help others, but to entertain and share the music with audiences that appreciate not only live but original instrumentals. TBX is becoming an entity on its own. Audience come for the experience! And he, Trow Boa delivers!!

In today’s world of AI and computer generated this and that… there are so many ways to express one’s self.. however music is something that can transcend language and cultural differences. The fact that he started from the basics and has tirelessly continued to expand and hone his music skills speaks volumes for his dedication and love of his craft. He not only enjoys what he does his pleasure in sharing his music is catching, Audiences are drawn to the ambience he weaves with his unique style and presentation….

Oxtail broth

How many of you have been so disappointed when buying store bought bone broth? I have been trying off and on now for a long time to satisfy my craving for a good ready made broth. What you see above is my breakfast … a bowl of steaming freshly made (overnight) oxtail soup.

Fresh okra grown locally

fresh mushroom (big cafe ones)

slices of sweet onion/Spanish onion

cream corn (small can)(I prefer the known brands -thick creamy)

garden fresh baby potatoes (today it was red /yellow ) quartered

diced tomato, green pepper, red pepper *(Pizza topping from the fresh veggie shop near by)

seasoned with pink salt, minced and diced garlic and ginger.

The oxtail is such a rich meat, so delicious and tender, I did not add a lot of other spices I wanted the flavour of the beef.

The aroma as it simmered overnight was ..”heavenly” The taste this morning is “divine”

Don’t rush or allow yourself to get flustered

When you rush, it limits your ability to pay attention to detail, and often leads to careless mistakes. With a prayerful mind, take a deep breath and act calmly.

why prepared pizza topping – at FarmBoy (fresh produce store) they prepare this every day for customers… and for a single person on my own, buying a whole lot of veggies means I have a lot of waste… this way the produce is freshly made every day and I don’t have an excess of veggies going to waste in my fridge.
