It is important to say “Thank you” Everything that appears in front of you is all material for you to improve yourself whether it’s food, people or things. Learn to accept everything whether it is something you like or not.

a day of discovery

Another day of sunshine, mild temperatures, and welcoming countryside. Savor each moment of the day. It is a gift. I searched the branches for birds, the ground for little paw prints. The day was still young. I stood and took it all in. How grateful I am that I am able to adventure the back roads and really see the beauty that can so easily go unnoticed.

I thank the UNIVERSE that I still have my sight and sense of smell. That I am strong and able to still explore the land as it is meant to be seen. I am grateful that I have a home, and a place to call my own. I will not forget to say thank you at the end of the day…. I pray for peace .. each and every day. Be kind to your fellow man… a smile goes a long way.

the bridge

The bridge was there, only I had never thought of actually crossing it. I loved the symbolism of the bridge, and the possibilities, it just never occurred to me to cross it.

my journey across

Today I saw it in a different light, and the road beyond. It was simple really, all it took was the realization that “today” is really here. I can travel and explore beyond what, and where I have been. Life does go on. It is not by looking behind that we free our minds, but by moving ahead, into the world as it is now.

today the door opened and I walked through

I thank my son and my friends for getting me to this part of my journey. Happiness is knowing you are loved. My husband will always be in my heart and part of who I am. That will never change. Today, he held my hand and opened the door, knowing the lessons and the love we shared will carry me through the tomorrows that are before me.

FYI the Chinese New Year this coming lunar year will fall on January 25th. For many the close proximity of the two new year celebrations will mean a lot of activity and energy. The Chinese new year is focused very much on “family”. Leading up to this important time of year, we “clean” our “homes”, physically and mentally.

For those familiar with the I Ching. Hexagon 58 Tui the top three lines mirror the bottom ones. broken line, followed by two unbroken lines.

Joy and Harmony! No doubt. Confidence. No regrets. Advancement. Happiness! Faith in the temporary causes disillusionment. Attraction!

and then 27

Really a work day after time off, and the next day is a week-end again!. Do I remember, the groans when holidays would fall mid week. However every day in PL is a good day. It is just to get that motivation to actually get out of bed, and get going. Once we are on our way, we are immersed and right into living the day. whispers rah rah rah…. keeping it quiet just in case, you haven’t had your coffee yet.

Don’t you just love the Pollyannas in this world. I know deep down inside you agree we are the captains of our ships. You can decide to make it a good day, or not. Truthfully sometimes, I make the decision, for ” Time out”. Taoist philosophy, “wise man know when to stand still”.

Whatever you decide. Make it count.

textures

When the landscape beckons .. I listen … sometimes I don’t realize just exactly what I’ve captured till I get it home and see it on my screen. This is a progress (change) that i really enjoy. At one time I would see something, then have to wait till my roll of film was done, and then processed before I could see my “capture”

We are not always wanting the “changes” that develop around us, but the acceptance and the inevitability of change is something we cannot change. Change is constant. We can refuse to accept or use new technology, that is a choice we make. I can vividly recall, my horror at using a bank card. now.. well now the horror is when I can’t find my card.

Saying never, is a limitation we place on ourselves.

Friends we meet, near and far, the internet friends we have never met in person, some are as dear to us and sometimes, even more, than the world we walk in everyday.

So saying I would like to thank all the new readers and welcome you to the community that shares this “webspace” with me. To my blogger friends, your sharing is an inspiration, my world is enriched 1000 fold, having you in it. May the holiday season be a happy and joyous one for you. We are always a keystroke away. =^_^=

we are share the same root system =^_^=

The early morning light, was not going to get any brighter, yet I found the sight of the single tree still standing with its crisp mantle of dusty orange leaves, appealing.

falling snow invites the visitor to linger

I found today to be beautiful, it was moody, it was stirring, most of all it was full of expressions waiting to be discovered.

Appreciate the Makoto (sincerity) of the people who came before you. Everything we have today was built upon the hard work of our ancestors and the people who came before us. Always remember to be thankful and humble and continue to build on their past successes.

The 11th. Ancestors day ceremony, is one of my favourites, today’s service was powerful

Voices in unison we prayed, heads bent in reverence and respect for our loved ones, and those who came forward and went into battle to keep us all free from those who would do us harm.

Where-ever you are in the world, please continue to pray for world peace.

tools

I was reading a friends blog recently, he lives in Japan, and writes about the use of and the caring of good carving tools https://covingtonandsons.com/2019/10/04/sharpening-part-10-the-ura-%e6%b5%a6/ While reading his blog I was hit with the similarity of looking after one’s tools, and the maintaining of friendships. When we don’t look after our tools, they stop performing for us the way they were intended to perform. Especially a carving tool. A good crafts person, knows that it is essential he/she maintain his/her tools in good working order if the quality of work is to be preserved.

When a friendship is taken for granted, or mistreated, will it withstand the neglect or at times, miscommunication. In PL we learn that life is about us, and that we re responsible for our feelings. So I muse on if I feel slighted, or taken for granted, then it is up to me, to what…. dismiss the situation, put it aside and move on.

Not let it happen again, simply do not put your self in the position again. hmmmm the little voice says…. you could miss out on something…. you enjoy that friend. Did they intentionally set out to hurt you. The answer is no. It is simply their actions, were not appreciated by my sensitivities.

Darn being a philosopher is hard. I likely will opt for a good cry. Have a good nights sleep, and tomorrow, begin another day.

Now please everyone, don’t be sad or feel that I am blue.. I am living the moment, and will then move on. Life is too beautiful and inspiring, tomorrow I will be wide eyed and living my adventure.

Nick, Mel and Craig rang the partially hidden little bell

Nick and Mel, sat down to wait a spell

While Craig wandered off to find the well

“oh look”, said Mel

both doors are open, front and back

“for sure” said Nick, “let us explore

Craig will find us when he gets back”

Inside they went to look around

Meanwhile Craig having found a  fast running stream

decided to explore a little more .. will the 3 friends,

end up back where they began? Although they started in one location,  each had his/her own story to tell when ….

April 24.

April 24, a date to remember, it was my husband’s birthday.Brian collage A day that celebrated his life. Now it is a reminder that I am a “widow”  In May it will be a year since he passed away.  His last birthday was one he so bravely wanted to celebrate.  His courage and determination saw him make that date and live to say he had achieved his goal.  He had his 70th. at home we toasted his achievements and his life, knowing there would be no more.

Over his years of  being successful at his chosen vocation – broadcasting, and the written media, he thrived at being a reporter of his many journeys and many observations as he travelled the world in search of stories, and new experiences. He never tired of sharing with others his enjoyment of the many interests he had acquired through his travels and his career.  History, geography, world affairs he could converse and debate at large.

PL calendar day 24

Things that happen to us all have a meaning.

Everything that happens to us happens for a reason.  Each and every occurrence is a chance for you to improve yourself.

We married late in life, he was determined that his wife would be  alright when and if he was not around.  That meant, he wanted me to have and maintain an independence that would serve me in good stead should he not be around.  He was so kind, considerate and caring, that I can say in all sincerity, he completed my life in a way that was so loving and dedicated to our togetherness that even though physically he is not here, he will always be MY husband, MY one and only … You were and are a blessing Brian, you are celebrated every day.
