Welcome the new while respecting the old.

Every generation brings forth new and positive changes, but also relies on the wisdom of the past. Be able to appreciate both and take the best from each. (PL2017.18)

Have a great start to a new week everyone!

Sunday

so tranquil and serene

We are capable of handling whatever comes our way.

Instead of asking yourself,, “Can I do it?” simply tell yourself ,”I’m going to do it!” Then, give it your best effort. (PL2017.17)

Eartha “hey want to go to the States tomorrow” Me, “sure, ” and as simple as that, the next day (yesterday) we were on the road to Norther NY State. If anyone has information on how to find the Amish community in the area between Watertown and Massena… it would be appreciated if you could drop me a line, we’d even travel further down towards Syracuse.

There is a good Chinese Buffet in Watertown… in the shopping Centre with the Joanne’s and the Dollar Tree. We got there as they were changing over from the lunch buffet to the dinner one. The dinner selection had more seafood. Prices were reasonable the same variety up here would be between 25- 35 dollars on a week-end.. For two yesterday it was under 40 for both of us. Incl. tip.

Yes it was dark when we were driving home.. but Eartha was a pro… it was a breeze for her..

Have a great Sunday everyone…. oh.. in the States, we found less Xmas cheer in some stores, we were told they wanted to focus on Thanksgiving.. Up here, Xmas decor and merchandise is in full swing. (was looking for that “ugly” sweater.)

Cheers – Till soon!

YOUR smile can create an instant connection.

A warm smile brightens everyone around you and has the power to break down barriers between people. (PL2017.13)

I am enjoying my newest discovery, doing puzzles on the computer/actually iPad. No puzzle pieces all over the table for the cat/dog to discover and want to rearrange. Just good music (I get to listen to Trow’s set from last night and simply REST/unwind) With the cooler weather slowly descending on us, are you prepared for the weeks ahead?

For me the adjustment has been the time change. Boy does it get dark early. FYI.. I am cutting back on the early morning visits to woodlands.. not sure how yet, but I am working it through. I hope to spend more time at the health club/gym during the winter weeks ahead. AND I’ve worked on improving my commitment to Self Care!!

Have any of you, had experience with Varuna Crataeva, horstail, or Lindera Aggregata?

Blessings of the day!

Expecting too much leads to dissatisfaction

When you expect things to go exactly as you’ve planned, it limits your creative expression. Always be mindful of others and remember that they have their own way of thinking and doing things, too. (PL2017.12)

PL Precept # 15 All is a mirror

Monday

It is only “now” in this lifetime of mine that I have discovered the true meaning and happiness of contentment – I also now know that it would have been impossible to know this contentment* before, because I wasn’t ready. I would not have lived the life I have, or experienced all the adventures/challenges/opportunities that have made me the “person” I am today.

Be free of your attachments…

If you are obsessed with doing something in only a certain way, it narrows your choices. Keep your options open and be flexible. (PL2017.11)

seasons are changing the only constant in life is change.

Merlin

Live in the moment

Whether you are walking, having a conversation, or having a good time, it is important to be fully engaged. Remember to live in the “now”. (PL2017.10)

A forever moment is one you will never forget.

When we let go of “ego” and surrender to simply “being” in the moment, we are blessed with the awesome experience of a moment in time that is sublime.

May you walk in sunshine this day, be happy!

Money and things should be used to their fullest potential

Use your resources creatively and don’t forget to be thankful for being able to use them. (PL2017.9)

We are already in November, the gift giving season will soon be on us. have you changed from the witching month yet. In the States, the next big holiday will be Thanksgiving. Thus the reason I’m seeing signs for “Black Friday” sales… gentle reminder .. tread softly… There are so many sales out there, some are better than others.

Have fun doing whatever you decide to do today!

With a prayerful mind, put your heart into everything you do.

Even when you’ve put in your best effort, you may have overlooked something. With a humble mind, take a second look to check for mistakes or oversights. (PL2014.7)

I drove to Toronto yesterday. I have never in all my years driven to Toronto on my own, NEVER. I have been there many times, even lived there years ago. But either I was with someone, or I took a bus, train, even plane, but never have I driven there.. it is a 5 plus hour drive, and Toronto is a BIG action packed city. Cars everywhere and going at amazing speeds… highways beside highways, criss-crossing , man, I was to overcome with the magnitude of my situation to even think about it, I just had to live it.

Sometimes we just need to live it. My trips to Japan, and my memories of the Chinatowns I’ve been in over the years had me wanting to be in a milieu that was “Asian”… In Toronto there are huge communities, marketplaces, shops, restaurants that have that “familiar” vibe. My “draw back” was I didn’t take into consideration the time change factor, the month, days are shorter, etc. I had rendez-vos at the start of the day so didn’t leave Ottawa till almost 9 and Toronto is a good 5 hour drive.

AND I had a place to be (which required me to be back home) for 8 pm. Let me tell you, I got to have many little chats with myself yesterday…. and to examin my need to do things as they pop up in my gray cells. Then the jewel on the crown, when I got home, the road was closed right in front of my house, I had no access! (well I did, but I had to be coming from the other direction, and it was a very small opening!!) and I have mentioned it was pitch black out, and had been since about 4:58 pm. ok maybe 5:15…

It is pretty scary when the guardian angel is the big white truck in front of you that has lights not only along the bottom of his truck, but at each corner of his truck at the top. I offered up a silent prayer to his guardian angel in thanks and to keep him safe. Those super highways are D A R K !!!

A big thank you to my nephew who came along as I was staring in disbelief at the big road closure fences barring my way home… He ran over and saw that by going around and coming down the street from the other direction, I could squeeze the car through and into my laneway.

I was blessed with friends who checked in on me along the way…. in spirit I was never alone, and I did have a sense of accomplishment when I finally threw myself on the bed to end the evening with a well deserved “sleep”… (Bedtime stories are heaven sent)

Oh and.. onStar (service in my car) guided me every mile along the way, I even learned a new way to leave the conservation area, to the Queensway (super highway here in Ottawa)….

would I go back.. yes that was a tease.. but I would time it better.
