Life is Good especially with you in it!!

lying in the sun

I admit to being a lazy one today. I got to the beaver pond, and decided to sit down for awhile and wait to see if the beaver(s)would come out. The sun was warm, there was no one around, the wooden planks were so inviting, I took off my padded vest folded it to make a headrest.. and… yup. I lay down right there. Stayed over to the side of the boardwalk so others could get by.. but made myself comfortable, stretched out.. and just let the sun work its magic.

The quiet of the day was soothing. Birds calling, even saw my first butterfly of the season, Today in PL, we celebrated the Day of Peace. Welcome a new month.

Every day is a new beginning. PL Precept # 18 Each moment is a turning Point.

Grief is the agony of an instant, the indulgence of grief the blunder of a life.

Benjamin Disraeli

Loss is painful. It’s natural for us to grieve over things we’ve lost. And it takes time to fill the hole left by a loss. The larger t he hole, the longer it takes to fill it. At some point, though, we need to put painful feelings aside sot hat we can get on with the business of living. this doesn’t mean ignoring or forgetting our loss, but, rather recognizing that life is a gift that we have a responsibility to honor. We honor what we have lost as well when we learn from our loss, incorporate it into who we are and move on. Loss is natural and unavoidable. I understand and accept t his.

Always and Forever

love always

Love is a feeling, love is an emotion, love is so many things at different times of ones’ life. When I wander the woodlands, I am happy. The further along I get, the more drawn in I am to the beauty of the land around me. You have noted I often will end a visit with “love always”. Moments like the above when I stop moving, and allow the environment to surround me with its beauty, and song. I am content, I feel a sense of Oneness with my surroundings. I feel love.. Knowing such moments, allows me to love freely.

The sun shining through the trees, glistening over the water surface. Awesome.

“Let’s have a humble mind. Once you think, “That’s good enough,” you become blind to the opportunities to be more creative.

“2022/4/28 [Always use positive expressions] If you’re going to express it, let’s express it positively. If you are willing to do it instead of being reluctant to do it, you will gain a sense of fulfillment as a person. It’s more interesting and fun to be active than negative. You will be happy to express everything boldly, and you will be able to enjoy a deep sense of fulfillment, and your personality will be revealed indefinitely.” Translated in Japan to English.

my first owl in a tree

Ok which little owl is this?

My very first actual sighting of an owl sleeping in a tree. I can’t tell you the thrill it was for me. This little darling was used to being photographed.. the experienced photographers knew he was there, and most had already taken his/her picture. “kristoff” from Gatineau, was kind enough to point him out for me .. and show me where to stand so that I could get a clear shot. I knew from previous visits that there was an owl in a tree in that area… I had seen others gathered around getting a picture, but always there were so many I just wandered off to other areas.

Yesterday was cooler, and there were less people around. Ground was still muddy (very) from the rain and the snow of the previous days. Please if you know which owl this is.. can you you leave me his/her identification below. Much appreciated.

This was another of my host birds.. this one was at my feet, we just stood looking at one another. She/he patiently waited for me to move aside. I was the intruder.

this was not a photo lens shot, this was lower my camera and click.

I’m including this next picture, because, these critters were everywhere, if they could have pulled on pant legs for attention they would. There are big signs all over, not to feed… I simply moved on.. but they were very persistent.

Can you guess where I’m headed as soon as I finish here…. LOL… have a good day everyone..

Today’s church calendar quote…

Are you overdoing things? Not only do you harm yourself when you overdo things but you may be imposing on others as well.

into the woods I go.. till soon.

bramble

Finding my way through bramble, brush,& fallen trees, was a challenge I gave myself today See the small opening, once the vegetation gets going, this is barely visible. I thought I could follow the animal trails and explore beyond the initial growth. forgetting that the animals using the trails are on all fours and much shorter than my human 5.3″ frame. I had to push aside the branches with thorns and duck under the bigger branches that wouldn’t push aside.. Curiosity drove me forward.

I did come across a small clearing that at one time someone or persons had tried to put up some kind of shelter. the picture on the right, you can see there is a shelf of some kind.. not sure if someone perched on it, or it was used for ??. There was no clear access to this area, not now anyway… so how long ago this area was used and what it was used for, is unknown to me. I spent time rummaging around looking for clues, but if there were any, they eluded me.

When I finally headed out back to the more “civilized” part of the woods, I found I was not where I thought I was, and had wandered off course, I could only get to the main “path/road” by crossing over or through water. and then making my way up a rather steep incline. How About that.. I had wanted to explore, well… hello unexpected…. I tried going one way, following the water’s edge.. looking for a place but I was blocked by really dense branches, shrubs etc. I turned to retrace my steps.. and saw a lone figure coming along the upper road (the one I was trying to get to).. hello I called.. and surprise, the voice that answered was a friend…(who had just texted me, cuz she saw my car in the parking lot)

When there is a need, the Universe “answers” – sometimes two heads are better than 1…. I made it out, and then went on to walk with her for awhile… There is always yin/yang it was a wonderful experience but all the hacking through brush and hiking over rough terrain jarred my ribs again.. – smile you are on camera!!!!!! tsk tsk some people just never learn……would I do it again… yes….. life is G O O D, dragons appear everywhere.

cedar waxwings

When you are standing in the pouring rain with just your cell phone, you get the shadows, my thanks to the donated photo that I found on the web by Bob Zeller. The birds were unconcerned about me, they were enjoying the rain and the day…

Inspired me to stand and just enjoy their company. The rain came down harder, I was already wet, and enthralled with their company, it was an amazing experience … I knew it was raining, the drops landed and fell around me… the woodland was alive with the song of these birds .. the jays/crows/ravens calling over head as they flew over, the woodpeckers tapping out their morning “groove” as they pecked away at their chosen tree.

There was a moment where the rain, the birds, the surroundings all just became ONE with time. I have no idea how long I was there, it didn’t matter, I was totally engaged.

Make today a memorable day. Let’s try to put our whole heart into whatever we say or do, as our unique signature.

Yes, I will be going out again this morning to retrace my steps. I know we can’t go back in time, but I can “chase” another “moment” that will become a memory worth remembering.

Oyashikiri

woodland warrior

Welcome – I give you safe passage

When you get stuck, take a step back… When you are able to see things objectively, your viewpoint will change and you will receive new wisdom.

Perfect Liberty 2022.23

I pass this warrior almost daily… Some days he is on duty, other days if he is there I don’t see him, yet obviously he is always there. In life, that happens often, maybe too often. Working towards being aware, is a full time occupation. With time, the many MUST see/do that occur in one’s life fade, or take on a different priority.

Being a diabetic, there are steps I should take every day. Do I? The honest answer is NO… do I realize that I am in the process of major changes.. that life for me has taken on a different hue, shading if you will, yes .. in the background there is still that AAA personality.. that need to “do”.. to “act” … but with time, there has also been another “voice” that has risen from within.. a gentler voice, a quieter voice, but one that needs hearing non-the-less. By no one else, but me.. I need to listen and let it be heard.

Like the warrior, all the elements of nature that have wrapped or woven energy around me over time, have shaped and left scars, some I can see, and others I may no longer see, but I feel the wound as if it was yesterday.

The ancient tree can no longer return to life as a sapling, his gnarled existence is who and what he is. His many years of life he wears proudly, his scars and open wounds are badges of honour he wears openly for all to see. I a human, can I do the same…?

Ottawa and water

Be in tune with the feelings of others. Let’s start by trying to understand other peoples feelings.

Perfect Liberty 2022.22

If being near or around water is something that you enjoy, find soothing, Ottawa is the place to explore. The city and the surrounding areas are full of wonderful places to explore and discover.

Happy Friday everyone,

noticing now

I woke with too many thoughts running through my head. So much so, I wanted to turn over and pull the covers up over my head. Then I remembered that today was the 21st. and a day for giving thanks for the blessings in my life. Followed by that thought came the reminder that my late husband’s birthday is this week-end.

These doors are on campus in Japan (PL headquarters Foreign Student building). We would roll out the futons at night to sleep, and then roll them back up during the day.

I think I may have a fuddled day. My thoughts seem to be drifting from one place to another. This next picture was in Quebec. (top picture too)

Maybe I will just stay where ever my day takes me… and say thank you for whatever comes my way.

Thank you thank you thank you… Let’s live with gratitude towards everyone and everything all day today.

door in Japan taken last week by HT

Sorry folks, I’ll just say thank you.. and log off.. the grey cells are just not wanting to activate. As I continue on with my day, I’ll remember that every moment is an opportunity to practice (mindfulness) and be aware that – this too shall pass….
