Happy start of a new week

Good Morning Everyone….

Time to hit the road, time to travel along a  route not followed before. Finding the secondary roads that will lead past delightful vistas that will please the visual senses.  There was a time when cars did not have air conditioning, we drove with the windows down.  We could smell the various odours our climate brings to our faculties that carry the “notes” to the brain. The heat on the dusty roads, the vegetation parched waiting for rain, or the moisture from the lake wafting   up so that for the seconds we pass, we smell the algae, hear the frogs, even see fish leaping out of the water, depending on how close we were to t he water’s edge.  How different our rides were, we seldom went by water on a hot day without seeing boats, and people near or on the water participating in water activities.  Enjoying the outdoors was what the summer days were all about.

Now it just isn’t the same, super highways and main roads take us away from the populated areas, and when we do pass playgrounds, picnic areas, and lakes, often they are  void of people.  Where is everyone, and what are they doing?  Not only that often when we drive by farmland, I’m saddened to see bare grazing land, and often scenes like this.

and this, I can’t help but wonder at what the building was like in another time, and how full of laughter, tears and sorrows must have transpired for it to now be but a memory.

Let us start today dear friends, to live with our best intentions to make this a week a time to remember. Lets say thank you and show appreciation for the people who are close to us. Give thanks for the moments shared as we make our way on this road of life.  It is our journey and we are never alone.

In response to your requests, here are a couple of toe tappers =^_^=  and I do agree with you all, no matter your personal beliefs, the words and feelings of these tunes leave you JOYFUL ..

PL Precepts # 15     All is a Mirror

PL Principle # 16    I will not have a mind to be arrogant nor conceited

These are the two lessons i am working on this morning..  I found myself thinking some very surprising thoughts this morning.  Recollections of my unbidden thoughts from last night seem to be wanting attention.  You know where a thought comes up about something that happened at another time that is disturbing … yet at the time, you hadn’t noticed just how much the experience was affecting your thought process.

Today’s calendar “lesson” says, that if we face a situation head on, a path will open up“….  hmm  sits quietly and reflects on the niggly thoughts that are lingering.  I didn’t like learning I had a lazy mind, but after it was brought to my attention, I did eventually see that I do have a lazy mind, LOL and it sneaks up on me when I least expect it.

This ahHA moment will also be a good lesson for me.  Smiles, life lessons are ongoing,  guess I’ll be a “work in progress” for some time to come.

Thank you for sharing with me -I so appreciate you all, may your day be blessed with blue skies and happiness.

This photo sparked a lot of comments and not always pleasant back and forth between persons with various backgrounds arguing  about evolution, theory, science etc.  The picture itself was found on flavorchemist.livejournal.com.  LOL I did read a good many of the comments, and have to applaud each and everyone of the readers because they were really into it. EAchd held strong views, no one wanted to back down, and each was determined to make his/her point.  One picture, one issue, one statement  can illicit so many different reactions.  Applaud the differences, praise TAO  that you are blessed with a mind to focus on what is right for you, appreciate the blessings you have in your life, /Evolve spiritually on a daily basis.

Do we always have to have just one right-wrong.  In Tao, there cannot be one without the other.  There is not only one side to a coin.  We can only look OUT from with IN.

words Q

Guten Tag ! Buongiorno!

awesome place -PinterestSometimes I just have to share with you some of my finds.

Sometimes I find a photograph that leaves me without words to express what I am thinking, or the wonder that fills my mind,  Is it real,  how did it happen or come to be…   It was posted on Pinterest by a Nathan Eames. (Poole,UK)

Every day I have such moments in my life.  Moments where I am simply overcome with an emotion that carries me away.  It could be something as  simple as walking outside with one of the dogs and seeing a squirrel run across the hydro or telephone line as easily as I walk along a sidewalk.  The other day I noticed a small purple violet peaking out from a small clump of freshly unfurled moss green leaves.  There are crumbling pieces of broken concrete from a weather worn bird bath that somehow seem to give character to the  sprawling juniper.  If I look even harder I see the faces of long forgotten art dolls looking out at me wondering if I’ve forgotten them.  I have.  There is just so much to see, explore and experience right here at home, yet when I see the finds of others. like the picture above.  I truly am amazed.   Isn’t technology wonderful. How blessed we are to live in an age of “social media” where artists can share their works, visual and otherwise by simply posting it for others to see.

Value your time here, actually see the world around you, listen to the sounds of life that fill your day. Most of all, appreciate the true worth of those around you.  Family, friends, tell someone you care, don’t assume they know.  We all need to know we matter in someone else’s world.

No matter how big or small the part we play, we are all ONE under the moon/stars/sun.    Blessings…      Oyashikiri

bear hugs

Appreciation

anger management - www.imfunny.net

Do you get angry?  I have been sitting here thinking about anger.  I react, and I do get ticked off, but do I get angry.  My frustration, or disappointment to a situation is usually short lived.  I tend to blow, verbalize, get it out of my system and move on.  For sure my fuse has gotten longer the older I get.  Plus, I believe that when one appreciates and lives in the moment, anger is a waste of emotion.  Living in the moment, also means that it doesn’t matter what day it is, because every day is a moment and opportunity for something awesome to happen.  Just walking out into the sunshine on the back deck can fill me with the joy of being alive to enjoy that moment.

Buddha was asked “What have you gained from meditation? ”   He replied.  “Nothing!    However, let me tell you what I have lost, anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity, fear of old age, and death”

Walk softly today, celebrate the day, appreciate the moment..   Travel through space to share this place with me, by simply closing your eyes and hearing the sound of your heart beat.  Colour your day with the blessings of life.  May the blessings of the day fill your heart with gladness, today, tomorrow and always.            Oyashikiri

Insulin

I don’t know what struck a chord of anxiety more when the doctor first told me I had to face the fact that I was diabetic or when he suggested that insulin might be the best route for me to take.  My life had been spent thinking I lived a very healthy lifestyle.  No coffee, tea, pop, alcohol, I don’t smoke, have good lifestyle habits, bed  before midnight when I can, up early, exercise on a daily basis yada yada yada.  Still some years back the doctor sat me down and pulled out the results of my latest blood tests and a comparison chart and began showing me why I was well on my way to being diabetic.  Let me tell you the logical, intelligent me, suddenly became a very cautious, stubborn, and uncooperative patient.  I did not do what I tell my own client/patients to do.  I resisted and gave the doctor no amount of (now I realize) non productive reasons why I wanted to continue doing it my way.  My way being no drugs, just making changes to diet and whatever else I could do with my lifestyle.

Donkey jamie meares - flickr

I’ll tell you now, it didn’t work.  A year later the doctor was again showing me numbers and comparing where my numbers should be and where they are,  One can only be obstinate for so long.  Once the D word had been given to me, I had to do a lot of soul searching, on how come I was having to deal with being Diabetic, like it was some awful curse, I had to bear.  I did talk to the minister and I prayed, I didn’t want it. Eventually I came to realize that my body needed help, and my mulish behaviour was counter productive.

Diabetes is a silent killer.  Often the only way you know you are headed down the slippery slope is from your doctors diligence in yearly check up tests, and the comparison of results with the overall history of your  visits and what YOU tell him are your concerns.  It took the doctor several years to get me on the medications I needed to be on.  Once you are a diabetic you are (your health) is measured by a whole new set of numbers.
I won’t bore you with the ups and downs I had to live through before I  accepted that I was a type 2 Diabetic, and that medical assistance was needed if I was to continue living the lifestyle I wanted to,  Even when I could finally say I am  Diabetic, it took me some time to really really accept it as fact.  Skip forward now to a couple of years later.

donkey -opening gate

In praying to be a better person, to try harder to listen to the inner voice within me, I genuinely began seeking to improve myself, my momentum towards being more at ease with being Diabetic grew more positive and more balanced in my daily life.  So this past month when the doctor again used the I word (Insulin) I was open to the idea.  I was ready to open the door and walk out into the freedom of living with Diabetes and have it part of my life, not a burden I had to carry.  Is this a work in progress, I don’t really know, I can only take life a step at a time.  AND please don’t show this blog to Dr. Dy, he  will only comment that the pictures flatter me.  He has been a “saint” thought this journey with me.

Rev. Tiago spoke of  appreciation yesterday…. I really have true appreciation for my GP.

Always pray to become a better person.     Oyashikiri

Rev Tiago de Medeiros Chagas – Photography

My name is Rev. Tiago de Medeiros Chagas, and I am a Brazilian  minister of a church founded in Japan. I consider the Church of Perfect Liberty a universal church.

Early flowers (1 of 1)

In the end of last year, I decided to buy a camera to take some pictures of my family. I always had cameras (point-and-shoot), but I was never a big enthusiastic about taking pictures. I used to do it in big family events and so forth, but that’s it! My level of photography could be considered below beginner. For those who understand about photography, I didn’t even know the difference between a point-and-shoot camera and a DSLR!

bridge by Rev. T

Rev. Eugene (the head minister of the Church of Perfect Liberty in Ottawa, whom is my  supervisor) studied about photography in school, so, he knows a lot about photography. One day, when I was trying to take an impossible photo with my camera, he kindly explained to me why I wouldn’t be able to do what I intended to, as well as, what I should do in order to take that photo. Maybe as a response to his kindness, I became very interested to know more about photography, understand more about words, such as ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, which by the way, I had never heard before.

Since then, I’ve been trying to learn more and more about photography.

I bought a very basic entry DSLR camera, because it was the cheapest one I could find and went online trying to learn more about photography. I was able to find several websites, blogs and channels on youtube of photographers who have been teaching people for FREE.

At first, my wife was not completely happy about it. She said that I was spending most of our free-time watching those videos, and that she wanted me do something else, but since I started taking pictures, and she could notice that, gradually, I was taking better pictures of her and our daughter, she got very happy and excited. In fact, she started to encourage me to watch more and more videos to better understand the fundamentals of photography, in order to take better pictures.

If I could say something about my own skills in photography, I would say that I am still in the level below beginner if that exists. There are so many things I need to understand about photography in order to call one of my photos an artistic expression, however, if we compare present photos with the ones I took in the past, I can say that there was a big improvement.

I am very impressed by those people who can learn by themselves about anything.  I am not like that. In order to learn a little bit about anything and now especially photography, I have been asking questions to many people, watching many videos of those photographers who use their time to record photography lessons to post on youtube for anyone out in this entire world. Even though I am not a very intelligent man, thanks to assistance of many people, my questions about photography have been kindly answered, for which I am truly thankful.

In our lives, it is very difficulty to improve ourselves without others’ assistance. Maybe it is impossible to do it. We do need assistance all the time. Since the moment that we were born, we receive assistance from others like the doctors and nurses for the labour, our parents for pretty much everything, our teachers for education. When we grow up, even though we are completely healthy and we can work, if there is no job for us, we will be very difficult to survive. Also, one can be self-employed as a photographer for example, if there is no store open to buy a camera, it will be impossible for anyone to do their job.

tulips by Rev T

If one is a very skilled chef, probably it will be easy to find a job in one restaurant, but if all the stores close down and there is no ingredients, despite of great skills, there won’t be anything to be done to express one’s self. Therefore, the great results one produces are deeply related to the great effort of many other people. We should never forget that. So, now it comes the one question. What can we do to honour those people who helped us so much?

For the Church of Perfect Liberty, appreciation has the meaning of expressing your gratitude for others, but also, do something in return. Transform your feeling of appreciation into action. And how can we do that? For those you have contact with, you can return a favour with something else, but for those who you don’t have contact anymore, like the physician who performed your labour, the nurses, teachers from kindergarten, or even your parents who did so much for you, that there is nothing you can do that can pay this ‘debt’ you have with them.

As human beings, we can put wholehearted effort into whatever we do, in order to honour those people and try make them feel proud of us. Based on our actions, they can feel that it was worth all their effort to help us.

Thank you very much,

Rev. Tiago de Medeiros Chagas    (all photographs in this post by Rev.T)
