relaxing and just sharing bonding time

What, no?  Oh you have allergies, and you can’t be that close to an animal, dog, cat etc. So this wouldn’t be your idea of a nice happy moment…. ahhh…. Perspective

We are all unique in our own ways, and we each and everyone of us goes through life trying to understand our selves and the world around us.  It is when we share our dreams and differences, that we learn about someone else, their culture, their world, in doing so, we broaden our own.

Please come by for tea, the door is always open, careful on the way over, it can get rather steep, but I’m always happy to meet and greet a friend, we can chat and exchange views (smiles), visiting and getting to know you, will be a very special kind of “hug”…sincere sharing/caring… is a hug in itself.  Blessings.

history -love

remember when

This was the future, and now it is history,  Trains still run, however, they are no longer considered marvels, or a mode of travel to fear. Does anyone out there remember carbon paper, and the joy a  typist had of not having to type a document 3 times, and horror of horrors if a typo was made and you had to realign the paper to correct it.  Now I hear complaints on how the smart phones and tablets automatically correct your text, whether it makes sense or not.

Technology is wonderful, and it has improved our lives in many ways, however it is often used instead of human contact and a phone call replaces a visit.  There was a time I would spend hours writing out a letter to a penpal/ friend I worked at my penmanship and drawing so that the letter would be fun and personal. Even the envelope got special attention.  I wanted my friend to know it was from me as soon as she saw the envelope.

Once posted, there was the wait for the postman to see what was happening in my friend’s world.  My Mother would send out cards for birthdays, anniversaries, get well, and any other occasion where a personal greeting would be appreciated and enjoyed. I was encouraged to make personal cards, and I admit it was most rewarding when I would get feedback on my efforts.  I carried this into my adult years, but as the technology changed and the newer methods of communicating began to enthrall  my creative side, I began to see that I could write more letters and spent time with more of my friends in far away places if I typed out my letters.  I would then draw pictures along the side and of course there was still the envelope to do.

Soon the machines got even fancier and we were able to do clip art and a number of other creative things on them, not just type alphabet and numbers. So letters were sent that looked more like a bulletin than a personal hand written letter,  In many ways they were slowly being de-personalized.  Friends began to use the modern technology more and more, and when the fax machines, copiers, and  e-mails came along,  well….. the letter writing was like a lost art.  We had instant gratification.

This is my personal observation, we have given up personal communication. being with someone, holding or hugging them, showing our caring with the energy and warmth that comes from being part of the air they breath, to transmitting words,/text across miles and being content with our efforts.  It is true we can’t always be there in person, but let me ask you please, if I am very sick, or dying somewhere, if you can’t come, at least send me a  hand written note, something you’ve touched, and expressed in your own words , in your writing in an envelope you’ve addressed, it will make me so happy.

It can be a simple, I’m thinking of you, get well soon, or die in peace, I don’t care… just care enough to be personal with me. LOL a post it note will do if you wrote on it, and addressed the envelope. I’ll know.. I’ll feel your energy as soon as I touch the envelope.

Love is a feeling, machines don’t do feelings ….

dag/Hallo, hello? you hearing me?

cfeed4887fc8003397faa4a280f88a5f

Buen dia. bonjour, once the greetings are said, how carefully do you listen.  Do you sometimes feel that you are talking into a void, even though you have someone there, talking with you, do you sometimes feel their thoughts are elsewhere? When it happens to you, how do you react, do you pretend you don’t notice, or do you  end the conversation and move along.  I guess it can depend on the situation.  I was on the receiving end of such a conversation last night, someone initiated a conversation with me, then suddenly it was as if, the person was in another room, then he said he had another incoming call, would I mind waiting. Sound familiar, happen to you?   My reply is to say, hey no problem call me back when you have time, and I hang up.  I personally would not do that to someone I had called, nor do I appreciate someone doing it to me.  Call me old-fashioned, but if you call to speak with me, then whoever else is calling can wait.

More and more with the new technology the niceties  are slowly fading in our interaction with others.  Communication is peppered with icons, acronyms and broken down sentences so that maybe your message is understood, maybe it  isn’t.  Our cell phones, iPads, note books even make spelling  corrections for us, that can and often completely change the direction or context of the message being sent. The question should be, not only can you hear me, but do you understand what I am saying to you.

I have one friend who can drive me crazy when he texts … I can see he is writing, and so I wait, the little pen stops, and nothing comes across to my screen, he does this several times, so I can see that he has something to say, but what I also see is he changes his mind 3, 4, sometimes 5 times and then says nothing.  It is a catch 22, I’m thrilled at being able to text to friends all over the world, have real-time conversations, but on the other hand,I miss a good old-fashioned letter, where thoughts are carefully put on papers, maybe even a few doodles, then signed with care/ love, and sent.  The recipient always knew that the person who wrote, spent time composing and thinking about what to share, then took the time do do an envelope and post the visit  for you to receive and enjoy.  Snail mail, miss it!

The empty corridor reminds me of  communication today, we are in such a hurry to get on to the next task or conversation, we miss out on the nuances and often the intent of the conversation we are currently having.  Listening will soon be a lost art.  The ability to have a real meaningful conversation will it fade into history too?  We all want to have, and be good friends.  And,  Lit we desire  relationships that are long lasting and enduring.  To achieve this, after we say our Guten Tag, we really do have to listen and be present in the conversation we are entering into. Yes!  Listen to others carefully and with a clear mind.

Estrella (Sp.) Star

star. vixyblu.blogspot.ca

Good Morning Everyone =^_^=

Do stars mean anything to you?  I remember back (way back) when we were given a star for good behaviour, etc. in school.  Report cards would  have stars on t hem to show how well you had done in different assignments, or topics.  In school plays we got to wear a star on our  head (on a headband) and a pretty dress to show “good”.   Stars being nocturnal are associated with night.  Stars, the 17th enigma of the Tarot, the representation of the soul uniting spirit with matter (Intercommunication of the different worlds)  As a light shining in the darkness, the star is a symbol of the spirit.  In reference books it is pointed out that the star rarely carries a single meaning, it nearly always alludes to multiplicity.

star, quote

In today’s world, we don’t go around putting stars on our colleagues foreheads, or post it note it to their shoulders, but we can show appreciation by saying thank you, or job well done.  All people have good qualities, focus on the good in others. After years of marriage, my husband still says “thank you” for his dinner/supper or whatever, and tells  me when he enjoys/ likes something that I’ve done.  When we first married, he had to remind me more than once to be more verbal in my appreciation, he was right, I took for granted at time that  he would know how much I appreciated things he did around the house, I saw  them, but I didn’t say anything.  We need to say thank you, and/or recognize the good in others. We sure appreciate the kind words when they come our way.

Church – Prayer-Meditation

church - prayer

What church you attend, and how you pray, this is very personal. Only something you can decide. What is important is that you pray. That communication with the Divine/Universe is a constant part of your life on a daily basis.
Always be open to the words/direction/guidance of God/TAO

nov.29_002Call it meditation, call it prayer, call it anything you want, but make the time every day to keep in touch with your “inner voice”  Whether you believe it or not, you are connected to the Universe, in all you say, do, everything.

nov.29_001Some of us pray in a formal church, and many of us, have our own private places where we find our quiet and calm.  The formality of a church can be daunting, and to some boring.  In life I have found that no matter where I’ve gone, or what the circumstances, the people/souls I’ve connected with, no matter the outer appearance, were spiritual in their own way.  ie. in SL, behind every avatar is a human being with a heart that lives and breathes.  In life, everyone we meet has a heart that beats, they live with feelings, hurts and bruises, and have loved and lost just like you and I.

A.nov 30_002

This church in SL is open to everyone.  It is run by a church in the States.  when you arrive at the church, you can obtain a notecard that gives you the information on the how and why of the church.  I’ve cut and paste the first part of the note card for you.

“I hope that you will find sweet kindness here. My SL name is Pelagius Friend (see the note on Pelagius at the bottom of this notecard). My RL name is Benhardt Fraumann and I am a Presbyterian Minister who serves a RL church just outside New York City. My RL website…if you ever want to hear a homily is http://www.communitypc.org. ”   He then goes on to explain the concept of the church and talk about Monk represented in their build, it is very interesting.   Pelagius (350-418 A.D. Approximate)

This is not the only church to provide a place for the many thousands of players in SL. ( PL is also present in SL along with many many others)

Offer sincere words and demonstrate acts of kindness, today and always.  Live with World Peace in your hearts. Blessings today, tomorrow and always.nov.29_003http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Born/178/63/29

Wednesday’s greeting

Wednesday's greeting

Isn’t this a great quote. I read it once, then a second time, 10 words, well put together. Another way of say “Life is Art” the first PL Precept.
I dearly want you to meet Sensei Fukito Kimura, the minister I told you about in an earlier blog. From PL Holy Land in Tondabayasghi, Osaka,Japan. He found a way to communicate with me even though neither of us spoke the other’s language. No, not through a translator, on a one on one. ( I was in Japan for Rensei training, blog(s) would be back in early August for those of you wanting a re read)

I was so impressed with his sincerity, kindness and overall demeanor I asked Rev. Goto to ask him if I could communicate further with him once back in Canada.  He graciously agreed.  It has been a challenge, but I did manage to ask him to tell me how he became a minister with PL, and why.  He did write, (Rev. Euguene) our minister here in Ottawa) kindly did the translation for me.   Now here dear reader, is where one of my lessons in life, has to be put into practice. Somehow in the getting the file from the church to my computer it got corrupted.  Patience is one of the virtues, I have had to learn and practice, and to do it creatively =^_^=.  (Rev. Eugene is away)

Rev Kimura

Meet Sensei  Fukito Kimura, a young family man dedicated to his craft.  He had not thought of being a minister till well into the last years of his schooling.  Once that decision was taken, he never looked back.  He had a church, but was called back to the Holy Land headquarters to  work there.  He is the Coordinator of Rensei Training.  He derives great joy and sense of reward in what he does.  On the shy side, he at first appears reserved, but when you watch him in action, ensuring all runs smoothly for the many many attendees,  you realize he is focused on what he is doing.  He is living in the moment.  His words when he wrote were gentle and wise.

When I get the translation again, I will post his response in Japanese for those of you who read Japanese, because I believe that it will be a true reflection of Sensei Fukito’s words.  And the English translation.

I know today’s teaching was on the Value of Money and Things…  but I wanted to talk about the value of Friendships and how  a real connection with another person will always be through a sincere desire to reach out and embrace that person with a love that speaks from the “heart”

Become a peace maker in life, a smile goes a long way, not everyone is lovable, we don’t always succeed at being gracious or kind, but we can all work towards a happier day. It begins with one tiny step at a time.

Emphasize on the inner spiritual energy of love and peace… Blessings all…

Time out – Road block

Time out - Road block

Ever found yourself standing alone trying to replay what just happened. One minute you were laughing and talking and the next your friend is off in a huff. Or you yourself have gone from good mood to one of “not so good”. Miscommunication?

Do you stew over it, waste the evening, or do you address the issue?  If you don’t speak about your thoughts and actions, you will not be able to express how you truly feel.

In PL the teaching is to take ownership for our actions and words. By expressing ourselves it opens heart to heart communication/connections. We know how it feels when we feel we have been slighted, or neglected. Saying “Thank you”, or ” I’m sorry” goes a long way towards building and maintaining lasting friendships.

PL Principle #3 > I will live with a mind of appreciation towards others and things.

PL Principle #6 > I will not be stubborn, being captured by my own thoughts.

PL Precept # 4 > Being annoyed limits your expression.

Strive for heart to heart connections.  Everyone benefits. (PL lesson, day 15)

As long as we insist that  we are separate, individual entities apart from the rest of the universe, then we shall never realize Oneness”  Deng Ming-Dao

Beautiful Words Make for a Beautiful Soul.

PL teaching for day 27 >

Let’s choose to use words that are kind, polite and courteous.  Kind words will bring about a kind heart.  Beautiful Words Make for a Beautiful Soul.

Often when I look around, I see people engrossed in their electronic gadgets, intent on receiving or sending a message.  I saw one woman pushing a stroller with one hand while holding the phone to her ear.  In the dress shop, another lady was talking away while she pulled out one garment after another to inspect.   A young man was hurrying through the mall, coffee in one hand and his iPhone in the other.  I wondered how he could text with the one hand, and still maneuver through the crowd and not bump into something.

If we are constantly tied to a phone, when do we allow the mind/brain to chill?  If taking a walk through the park, we are distracted  having an electronic conversation, do we see the flowers? smell the fresh cut grass and lush vegetation? hear the call and singing of the birds?  A friend told me that the way her family communicates with each other is via text.  Does that mean that we no longer enjoy personal contacts/visits.  Is tea time a thing of the past?  If I’m the person on the other end of the line, are you really connecting with me, or are you shopping?  Just wondering………

Relaxation is total peace.

When you relax completely, there is total silence.

This overwhelming sense of tranquility is really what meditation is about. (mindfulness)

Neutral stillness of the mind, renews the tired soul, (regeneration)

Changes

While change is the only constant in life,I still can’t seem to easily adjust to the new modes of communication..  Picked up the new Samsung Galaxy tablet today determined that I should take another step forward in the world of technology. Merchants have their hands out, and have come up with a lot of different ways to try to encourage the client to part  with extra dollars.  The gadget is listed at X$ but then there is a cost for this, and a suggested plan for that.. by the time they list all the extras, the dollar figure you started with has somehow almost doubled.  One has to be firm, in what one will and will not buy.

I can’t get over how many people I see with a phone stuck to their ear as they walk along the street, wait for a bus, even in the shops, people are on their cell phones.  Myself, I can go days without using the phone. hmmm, wonder what the attraction was for the tablet?
