Bohemian Waxwing

Men and women alike should respect one another.

Although they are different, men and women are equal as human beings. Always work to understand and respect each other.

Yes, the waxwing is filling the air with its melodious song – this is the time of year when the birds are bubbling over with the joy of spring.

hello

Spring is in the air, the red wing blackbird was amongst the breakfast crowd yesterday morning, as well as the very vocal pileated woodpecker.

Being considerate of others is just as important as what works for you.

Always be mindful of the situations of others, not just your own. To have a good relationship with those around you always think of what is important to them too.

They say seeing an owl is a good omen*. I saw the gray the other day as large as life, he was looking down at a photographer who was busy taking photos of him. I was a tad too far to get a good enough picture, but had this one Louis sent me the other day. What must this great bird think of the humans who stand out in the field everyday, pointing their arms up towards him with the big round glass objects. I wonder if he considers them at all.. are they a curiosity. Will never know will I.

I have seen the Barred Owl up close and personal, would be interesting to see the two in close proximity. The weather has turned mild, but then .. this is March and this is Ottawa, we could be basking in spring like weather, only to be visited by a wild, angry winter storm stamping and growling its way out of the region. Best get on my way… Have a good day everyone.

… for those interested in the dryer saga.. there is now a new compact dryer installed and operational.. almost had to deal with another refusal on the removal of the old one, but thanks to caring delivery personnel, the old one was taken away,

  • I’ve seen how many, 4, 5, owls in the last month.

Make today a “give back day”

We can live our daily lives owing to our ancestors, our elders, and the work of our predecessors. Above all kindness for others is the best way to give back.

Barred owl

It was very humbling yesterday to realize that the owl was comfortable with my presence at the base of his tree. The chickadees were singing and going back and forth between us. It was really unreal, I was totally mesmerized by it all. He watched me walk away to give the jays their peanuts… the doves, and woodpeckers were happy to get on with breakfast…. He just watched us and seemed content to be part of the morning activities. It ended when a couple of birdwatchers drove up and we got into human conversation. He spread his wings and took off. He was magnificent.

This was was my third encounter with him. Every meeting has been one that seems contrived. Fanciful thinking on my part, maybe… but the encounters are treasured! When he spread his wings he was so majestic.

Pileated

Pileated Woodpecker .. got to spend a quick moment with one yesterday morning. We startled each other, altho’ he/she was greeting me with a knock, knock, knock inches away from me. We came face to face (he/she was at my face level)

Male on the left – female on the right. I will post a link at the end of this post if you want to know more about this beautiful bird. It is about the size of a crow. (they mate for life)

A single moment is a life time

Be grateful for everything. If you see everything as material to express gratitude, you can encounter a number of opportunities to be grateful for.

I lived a lifetime

Pictures tell stories, yesterday, I took pictures.. the captions told of the energy around me. I named the file,

One with Nature..

The energy of the water cascading down over the rocks and cliffs

The quiet joy of being part of the world around me

No matter where I go, where I am, you are there with me.

Always you fill me with the balm of a love so pure and energizing, I know no other, but ONE.

Evening Grosbeak

Happiness is… looking up and realizing that there is an Evening Grosbeak looking back at you.

Made my day, I just stopped in my tracks and admired … the delight that filled me was instant I waited all last year for a glimpse of one.. and now.. here it was … the moment of sheer pleasure. Bold as brass, it just looked back to acknowledge my admiration… then went back to his breakfast.

Handle things that come your way one by one

Tackle your issues in the order they appear in front of you. You will be able to get things done more efficiently this way, (PL2015.19)

Evening Grosbeak is a passerine bird in the finch family. Adult male Evening Grosbeaks are yellow and black birds with a prominent white patch in the wings. They have dark heads with a bright-yellow stripe over the eye. Females and immatures are mostly gray, with white-and-black wings and a greenish-yellow tinge to the neck and flanks.
