Wednesday 15th.

The key to solving problems is within you. The problem that appears before you can surely be solved. Give it your best effort and the answers will come to you as long as you remain strong in your conviction that all will turn out well.

Kevin Baldelli is a nature photographer who I met several years back, who has moved from still photography to getting pictures of the animals in their natural environment. He has put together clips from his films taken in 2022. Thought you might enjoy spending some time with the animals in their habitat. This is the link to the video I’ve taken a screen shot from. https://youtu.be/cs3ZsPL6KkE

View your difficulties as a chance to make rapid progress. You grow by overcoming the obstacles in front of you, one by one, look at your problems as opportunities for growth and make the best of your situation.

Others are others … I am I. If you force your values about anything on others, it can be self-righteous. don’t be overeager and haves a sense of “others are others. I am I”

In life we face many challenges. Yesterday I started out with my usual routine, I went into the woods to feed the birds.. enjoyed the fresh air, the time with the wildlife and headed back into the city to attend a service at church. Two of my fellow hokyoshi’s are back in Brazil for a holiday, even though I had been in on Saturday I thought to go in and make sure all was well. It was a lovely sunny day, I had time to make a stop at the Asian supermarket, so I did a quick in and out (only place I know I can get my garlic stems)… On leaving I saw the door to the Time Foot Bar was open http://www.timefootbar.ca/

Need I say more…. I went in for a reflexology session, I didn’t think much about it, I drove over to that end of the parking lot, got out, walked in, and…… the rest is history … I did not go to church … I booked a session, fell into a light sleep while there, left. came home and went to bed. Sometimes the best laid plans go awry …. the rest of the day was spent in a bit of a trance.. I had not ambition to do anything, not even watch the telly. When the body needs to relax, it reaches a point of no return… and I had hit the zone. I did go out and try to clear some more snow off the deck.. so I got more fresh air.. but then I came back in… and you guessed it… my need took me back to bed. I listened to a Simon Brett talking book and slept again.

I could beat myself up for missing church. But that is not the PL WAY. I obviously needed the “time out” … Sometimes we have to listen to our “inner voice” if we continue to force activity when we are overtired, overextended, we suffer the consequences. Be honest with yourself, when was the last time you did something called “nothing”

Do you like being on your own, can you remember when the last time was you did something for no reason at all but because you felt like it…….

are you sure?

Some days happen, they do… but… they don’t register…. they don’t leave an imprint or shadow on the lens of your reality.

Perception is important.Take immediate action once you suddenly perceive. You might discover something important in what you perceive.

Perfect Liberty 2023.9

Sometimes there is just too much happening around you. It seems like everyone needs your attention, or projects, invoices, events all come due or happen around the same time. You feel pulled in several directions at once. Stop. Listen to your inner voice. You really can only be in one place at a time, and to be fair to the moment, if you are not totally present, the incoming message won’t be received by your brain the way it could/or would be normally. You won’t have the right “picture” to peruse and consider action properly for good results.

You can apply yourself to you passions, interests, you can try to divert your mind .. but in the end.. the problem or the issue, is still there and unresolved.

Enjoy what happens. People who can enjoy anything happening to them receive wisdom for the next step. Try to work on things without being overly concerned.

To say I’m smitten with these birds.. would be an understatement. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for him when he encountered these darlings on his travels. Thank you Geoff for sharing!

Give importance to listening, looking, thinking, doing, and speaking. Look and listen carefully before making a judgement. Assumptions and hasty conclusions can lead to misunderstandings.

Sunday 29th.

Heavy snow made it hard to see much, I basically decided it would be best to not attempt too much driving. When I left snow was falling lightly, but by the time I was back where the crows were, it was falling heavily.. temperatures were such that ice formed on the windshield blades.. and crusted on the windows making it hard to see.. the wipers left big crushed ice arcs just where I needed to see the road ahead. I had my Nikon today, didn’t do me much good tho’ you can see the snow was falling so heavily it was like trying to get their picture through a shower curtain of wet sticky snow.

The crows on my second visit waiting patiently for me to get out of their way.. they saw where the food landed, circled the area, but waited.

I did get pictures of the grosbeaks but… they were too blurred or distorted… I erased them. There was a whole host of the smaller birds (finch) that look like smaller evening grosbeaks today, they were all over the area grabbing up what they could. In fact, at both P23 and P22 it was the smaller birds that took over the diners.. they simply dived down and began to clean up. The doves and the squirrels stayed out of their way. It was interesting. The pesky little squirrels stayed clear of where the ground feeders were.

A couple of the little red squirrels are no longer really afraid of me, in fact, they like to tease me… waiting till I’m almost at them.. then lifting their little chins and giving me a little chirp before moving away only to wait for me to move on.. their little eyes watching me.. I swear sometimes I think they giggle.

The roads are messy, if you are tempted to go out… be careful.

Have you ever found yourself in conversation with a squirrel. How they will look right back at you in pure defiance. There are a couple of the little red ones that are just a little bigger than a minute.. they are loud, noisy, have a lot to say … and are determined that if you want them to go away, they are going to show you, they are going to stay. I recognize that behaviour…. Have been known to display “some” of that annoying stubbornness myself.

Compromise makes things more complicated. if you go against your intuition and compromise because circumstances or conditions, things tend to get more complicated than they need to be. Always focus on the priorities and act accordingly.

Express straight away once you’ve found it…” great!”.. Proactively express about others’ goodness. It feels great to be told so, even about things you already know.

To the Moon and back!

Monday, Monday

Having the whole area to myself, meant I could be a little silly. OK, well maybe a bit more than a little… I had a great time, I could run, jump, spin, turn and do a stretch and bend, I tried a few high kicks.. and discovered that I no longer have that can can kick I used to be able to do. hmmm. was it because of my big winter boots*, my 2 winter weight vests, my big winter quilted coat.. or… was it plain and simple I’m not in the same condition I was 10 years ago. (* I blamed my cleats that I have put on my winter boots for stopping my ability to glide and spin properly..)

I made the time to walk the whole area, making sure I put makoto (sincerity) into every step. I had no excuse, no diversions.. I was alone… even the birds had other things to interest them.. they were not following me or wondering what I was doing.. I got about 20 minutes of walking, skipping, etc. before another car came crawling along the road and into the parking area.

Today’s little “time to myself” moments were needed. Why I think I have to be out and at the feeders at a given time is beyond me.. I need to work on my “I’m retired” skills. Yesterday I did the walk (the trail that winds its way through the evergreens at P23) and today I “played” in the parking lot. I’d say it is a good start to the new year. Keeping active will ensure that my “body/mind” will not get lazy.

Don’t rush or allow yourself to get flustered. When you rush, it limits your ability to pay attention to detail, and often leads to careless mistakes. With a prayerful mind, take a deep breath and act calmly.
