Textures come alive in the rain. I thought should I bring my camera, its pouring, I’m glad I did.. I hung the camera inside my vest pulled it out only to get the pictures, and then dropped it back inside under cover. I imagined a quilt of different shades of green using the textures of the plants, leaves, branches.
It was my first time to consciously take a walk in the woods in the rain. I put on my Bogs (wet boots) wore long sleeves, sprayed my hat, scarf, and sleeves with heavy duty insect repellent. yes did my socks and jeans, put on a kind of wet spring type jacket over me and took off. Even brought my walking stick.
I wish there was a way for you to hear the singing of the birds, they were so happy, there was another car that came along so there were other humans about.. but.. none on the boardwalk.. it was glorious. The air was alive with the singing and calling out of the birds… I didn’t see any near or around the water, but I certainly could hear the chatter. With the steady drizzle there were no snakes trying to sun themselves on the boards either.
I know you can’t see the wet drops, but I hope the pictures give you the feeling of how peaceful it was.
I feel so blessed to have been given the gift of good health, a way for me to get to these wonderful places, and the incentive to follow the inspirations that come my way.
PL Precept # 1 LIFE IS ART
Never forget, PL Precept # 7 Everything exists in relativity
can’t help but wonder, what sound(s) took place when the tree fell
My first “conversation” this morning was with Dan https://nofacilities.com/, a wonderful man who lives with a special dog called Maddie, they eat /share a piece of toast after a walk. In his post yesterday he shows a very contended dog chilling on the couch after a walk, and the shared time with her human,
Yesterday was a beautiful day as you can see from the above photo, today it is a happy day for farmers, it is raining. Not sure how much rain we will get, but from what the radio announced yesterday, it will not be nearly enough. While in Pennsylvania it has rained, stormed and rained some more, we have had little rain to speak of, just lots of bright sunny days, one after another.
We live in such a complex world, so much is happening all around us, Some we can control, and much of it, is simply out there. There is nothing we can do but accept some of it, work around a lot of it, enjoy and appreciate what we can, and move along beyond what is not in our power to do anything about.
Improve yourself to have a kinder heart. Do what you can to be caring and considerate to make others happy.

the cycle continues
In PL we have the 21 Precepts and 21 Principles to help guide us through the maze of experiences we encounter in life, the ministers and Hokyoshi (assistant ministers) are always available to help/assist ..
Key is PL Precept #11 Always be with God.
#16 All things progress and develop. # 15 All is a mirror # 18 Each moment is a turning Point
Simple statements, yet very difficult to master, we are constantly learning and relearning… believe me, it is not from lack of trying.
Today is a new day, PL Precept # 1 Life is Art… PL Precept # 2 To live is to express one’s self.
Change we all need change in our lives, yet for some unknown reason, the tendency is to hang on. Let’s work to improve ourselves… meditate, find inner peace.. even if it is for a short time. ie. for me its the walks in the woods…
Do what you can to be caring and considerate to make others happy
Be a person who can say “I Like It” Find what moves you the most and express your appreciation.

chipmunks everywhere -not shy either …
They were everywhere, I could hear rustling in the vegetation, they scampered from place to place, up and down fallen trees, up and over rocks, they chatted, they nattered, there was no way you were going to not notice them. When I think of it, the only place I didn’t have them scampering about was when I was on the observation decks.
I saw photographers grouped around a tree, because of the mosquitos and because they were all intent on what they were photographing, I decided best to let them attend to their project with out more human traffic. Guess what I missed!!! A mama owl and her young offspring…. one of the photographers met up with me on the trail, bless her heart she steered me on the right track to get back to my car. She also showed me what she uses when in the bush to ensure she keeps the ticks away, (Deep Woods) another piece of advice for the novice here.. she puts her clothes in the dryer on her return to the house to make sure, any ticks or other unwelcome “insect” that has jumped on for a free ride is annihilated.
On the way home I heard an interview with a weather specialist, our summer it seems is going to be another hot one, maybe not as intense as last summer .. but high temperatures with high humidity for days on end. Not the best for farmers. If you’ve not experienced a Canadian summer (in this region) its not for the faint of heart. =^_^=

Good morning everyone, I wanted to repost a blog from a fellow blogger in Japan. I loved his blog this morning, it talks about Shinto in Japan, and how in building and in ancient tradition, there is a belief about the supernatural beings who live in the forests, woods, and on the lands. I grew up with similar teachings in the Taoist tradition. The reblog didn’t work this morning, please if you would like to know more, follow this link..https://covingtonandsons.com/2021/05/30/salt-rice-sake-and-prayer/#like-47483
It is a long week-end for you in the States, please enjoy the day whatever you are planning.
For us here in Canada, we are starting a new week- please stay safe, be well..
Reminder, June 1. we will have a 10 a.m. service at church (1st of each month, Day of Peace ceremony)
This morning I will take my cell so I can clock my steps/mileage for my walk prior to morning service.
Be careful about saying “it’s probably good enough” Wholeheartedly do what you notice, when and how you notice it.

Some days, when the skies are the clearest of blues, the feathered clouds wisps of angel white, the trees and surrounding vegetation are an array of, every shade of blue/green/yellow, AND the air is filled with the fresh lavender like scent of new growth -it is nothing short of perfection. Today I walked through the most heavenly scents – I looked for lavender, lily of the valley/ lilacs….. saw only the bog and the plants growing there, but ohhhh the intoxicating aromas were “mind blowing” I would have loved to have had someone with me who could identify what it was that I was enjoying so much. (one plant did look like lavender??)
nothing can erase the anxiety/ frustrations of day to day living in the current climate of a pandemic than a walk in nature.
Pictures of some of the “ladies” that were on display today… the vegetation is growing in leaps and bounds, won’t be long and the road will have reduced by half. It (vegetation) is coming in on both sides.
I’ll do it later. No, I’ll do it now. To make progress, do anything while its still fresh.

Today’s visit was longer than I expected it to be. I found that the trails I would have or had been taking, were not that inviting. With all the new growth, they were dark, and from a distance, I could hear the hum of mosquitos. Not inviting. I sprayed on the repellent and took off down the paved road. Thought I’d try to find the green gate on my own. Not that it would be difficult, it was just a matter of walking till I came upon it.
The spine that I should you pictures of in previous blog.. was at one time found just in, beyond the gate. Its been weeks now since the first “hiker/walker” found it… I doubted it would still be there, still I decided to venture in beyond the gate.
this was what I was hoping to find. I didn’t see any trace of it.
What I did encounter was an immediate invasion of cannibal minded mosquitos. They were everywhere, swarming around my head, trying to bit through my sleeves.. Not pretty. When I left the car I thought to bring my “Off”.. but I didn’t.. obviously my protection I had sprayed on when started out, was not going to hold these attackers off. I made a quick exit back to the open road.
The new tracker app that a friend suggested I put on my phone, has been fun, it tells me how many miles and steps I do. I’m happy that with each outing I’m getting better, and able to go just that little bit further without huffing and puffing! LOL there is hope for me yet!!
Take care everyone, enjoy whatever it is you are embarking on….
Express your appreciation with enthusiasm. appreciation is the driving force for progress and development.

I am an abstract artist, I love texture, form, and how everything in life intertwines, when I paint, I enjoy working with acrylic and other materials that I can sculpt as well as shape, with whatever tool I am working with. Life is a series of exchanges with other people and energies I meet along the way and during the day. When I engage I listen with every fiber of my being. I drink in all that is presented to me. Challenges are opportunities… I absorb and digest and later, I reflect and meditate. The world is dynamic and ever changing, sometimes there is just too much activity, and it is only hours or days later when something will reappear in my “preview” window …
This morning reading another blogger’s sharing, I saw his wonderful capture of birds he’d posted.. the yellow reminded me that while I was walking yesterday in what I termed mosquito alley, a bird flew past me, it was a hit and run, it came out of the wooded area, across my path just over my head and into the trees on the other side, it happened in seconds. What struck me was that it appeared to be dark with yellow under its wings. It all happened so fast. Not the dark ” orange” of a robin more of a ripening banana. With all that happened with the rest of my day, I lost that moment, thanks Tim for bringing it back to me.
Keeper
Velcro
These are my two “babies”
They had their appointments with the Vet yesterday, with social distancing, they get to go in for their check up, parent gets to stay in car in parking lot, or go home till you are called to come pick them up. Velcro is 13, I expected I would get a call about his growths, his teeth, his over all condition.. but I wasn’t ready for a call about Keeper’s condition. She had a bit of a procedure, requiring a sedative be used.. (unexpected) her heart has a murmur that should be monitored, and her thyroid had enlarged, she needs to go back on medication, which will be ongoing etc. Dr. M did her first, so I had all he had to say about her health to take in, when I got a second call about Velcro.. not only is his hearing going, he has cataracts that have progressed to approx. 50%. So much to take in. It was overwhelming.
NOW here is where you come in…. if any one has had experience or know of what I’m going to say next, I would appreciate hearing from you. The Vet wants to put Velcro on an eye drop that has had very good results in stopping further growth and in some cases, creating shrinkage of the cataracts. In one case (his personal experience with another client) the cataract disappeared completely. Taken back, I asked how come if there was such a medication it wasn’t used with humans…. he replied that it is not approved in Canada, but is used in other countries. The cost on top of everything else was not something I could do yesterday, and I wanted to ask for opinions??????
I did call my wonderful breeder friends, (where both Velcro and Keeper come from) and they will also look into this for me.. Is anyone, out there got information to share with me on this subject?
I am headed for the church this morning, and I will pray for guidance – I love and appreciate the blessing of having these two precious energies in my life… last night we were all exhausted from the days events. It was an early night!
It is Friday everyone… in Canada we are heading into a long week-end. The garden centers are open, this is the time when everyone would be opening up their cottages, here in the city we would be sprucing up our gardens, temperatures are going into the 80’s.. and here we will have high humidity to go with it.. groan.. lots of inside for me. I wilt in the heat.
When I first met Mr. Grump, I was struck with the thought that had I had a pencil I would have drawn a smile on his face.. of course I could not, and would not do that, that would be like writing on someone’s walls, or walking up to someone and putting a happy face on their forehead. Mr. Grump had that look that said, I need a hug. Humans as we mature, are much better at hiding when we/they need a hug. and… of course these days, hugs are hard to come by.
Do everything willingly and joyfully.. your upbeat attitude will make things more cheerful and enjoyable.

This next picture was an awesome moment, unfortunately I was unable to get a good picture, I was frozen in place on a stump, the Mother and Father of these babies were coming along behind me, since I was sitting their heads and beaks would have been right in my face, back of head, or my neck. I was not going to chance moving.
these precious babies were right at my feet, their Mother called them away towards her, since I was sitting where they would have entered the water, they make their way through the brush around me.
I offered up a wish they would swim past me when they entered the water, but they went left instead.
No matter what the day was like prior to my arriving at Mud Lake, as soon as I stepped into the area, I was in a different zone. I love being out in Nature, but then I’m sure you’ve arrived at that piece of information already.
every time I meet up with this female duck I’m loving her more, her beautiful markings are exquisite. Her partner is more colourful, true but I find her pattern to be a work of art.
It was a sunny day, temperatures were balmy, next time I need to get their earlier, when I arrived, the cars were already lined up all along the road. However, altho’ the wildlife is plentiful, I think I prefer an environment with less human taffic.
