1st of October

the blush of change

Depending on where you are in the city and surrounding areas, the colours are beginning to deepen .. In some areas, there is a rainbow of colour, yet you drive out west of the downtown core and the greens are still dominant. Change is on its way, you can feel it in the air, smell it on the breeze that brings a chill and hovers before drifting off. The Robins are being social, coming out and being more present around us when we are on the trails. Every day I hear the sound of the crows as they inspect and search out their winter “resorts”… yesterday another photographer was patiently waiting for a “big” as she called it, wood pecker that had been frequenting the feeder area.

PL Precept 7 Everything exists in relativity….

PL Precept # 16 All things progress and develop.

Today being the 1st, in PL it is when the PL ceremony for Peace is performed – today at 10 a.m. if you can’t make it to church, please take a moment to pray for world peace. Remember to show appreciation and give thanks for yesterday, and NOW.

Each person’s peace leads to world peace. First of all, you have to be happy. That happiness will spread and be the foundation of World Peace.

You have the opportunity every day to start a new canvas..

I appreciate YOU.

Wednesday’s teaching

Easy is the seed of ease . It is often said that “raku” is the seed of pain and bitterness is the seed of ease,” but when you thank “raku” and wish for the happiness of others, “raku is the seed of ease,” even more happiness comes around.

If you illusion that you have gained comfort as if it were your own power and forget to appreciate it, you will be a source of pain.

PL teaching from Japan as received 9.22.21

I will ask my “teacher” what she means, the translation or definition I found for raku is

History and Etymology for raku Japanese, literally, pleasure; from the use of the character for this word on a seal given to the family of the potter who introduced the style.

I will reflect on this passage.. I see it as a reminder that we are to be appreciative and grateful, not take things for granted.. not think only of ourselves but importantantly think of the happiness of others.

Your thoughts?

Pouring but going to check feeders anyway. Have a good day everyone!!

stump sculpture.

I love you Babe!

The back of the stump appealed to me the most. I walked around several times, taking my time, wanting to experience every dimension of what I was seeing. It sat on a vacant lot that had been for sale, I saw a sold sign on the real estate sign I hope that doesn’t mean that the stump will disappear.

I hope in clicking on it, you can see how much darker the backside is. Does it look like man had a hand in shaping it.. or was it cut down, and then left for nature to do her thing. ???

There are times in life when I think I feel like that stump. I have no reason for being where I am, except it is where I have ended up… and while life goes on around me.. my physical appearance changes, but inside, I’m like a piece of wood. 1000 stories to tell, and no way to have them heard.

I pulled out a calendar .. like I would the I Ching, closed my eyes and flipped to a page.

Always live with a kind and generous heart. Show love and embrace others’ good points, and be willing to overlook their faults. One who has a generous heart can live a fulfilled life.

Celebrations

When we drove by the Chinese Embassy today, there were bright red lanterns, flowers and decorations everywhere, it seemed so festive.  In China the Mid-Autumn Harvest festival takes place between September and October and commemorates the largest and brightest moon of the season.  It is a big celebration friends and family share moon cakes by the dozen ( see the moon cakes in left hand corner of the picture.)

The Chinese love red, red is a happy colour, the above are Chinese Lanterns hanging in Yu Garden, during the Chinese New Year.  The next picture was taken in Beijing during the Mid Autumn Festival.

We all celebrate life in different ways.   Lately the gift of life has played a pivotal part in my life. The energy of another human being provides a shaft of energy that oscillates giving wing to feelings and emotions that have lain dormant or have been simply non-existent.  Can one die and be reborn.  What determines the essence of life, and how it is lived.  We are told that life is the process of being alive, during our day-to-day experiences and challenges.

Imagine sharing such a moment with another being, the awe, the speechless wonder that such a feeling can be shared, can be realized, and then released. Today, I saw the signs of a celebration, then later in the day, I felt the elation of an explosion of life-giving proportion, so great that it left me in a state of wonder. Surreal?
