Last year when my Mother was bidding farewell to her years on earth, my sister who was staying with her. Passed the time, drawing and colouring, memories of another time.

Change happen, with “progress” comes destruction, to “make way” for “infill”  buildings that are meant to fill in where older homes , single family homes with laneways, garages that held the cars that used to fit inside them, and usually have pretty front lawns, and backyards, big enough for small patios and gardens, either filled with flowers in season, or vegetables.

Now these homes when their owners pass away, are taken over by builders who tear them down, and put in two homes on a lot that was meant for one.  Usually, architecture that is cold and sterile.  Forget a lawn or garden spaces. Cement, pavement and more cold man-made materials, usually in various shades of grays and blacks.  Garages if there, are usually part of the main floor, still usually too small for the bigger cars of today, so they end up always outside parked on the single space of the paved front of the dwelling.

Sad, but that is progress. If you are near, or can easily get to green space.  Treasure it. Take the time to enjoy it. Listen to the birds when they visit (if they do) enjoy the fresh earthly smells of spring,  and watch as the young flowers unfold to embrace another season of “life”

Life, can be fleeting.  Live in the moment.  Enjoy each and every second of your day.  don’t wait till it fades away.

PL Precept #11    Always be with God.

PL Precept # 16  All things progress and develop.

PL #18  Each Moment is a turning point.

Appreciation

golden-chalice-flower-5s

Yesterday was the 21st, in PL, that is the day we do a special service of “Thanksgiving” and expressing our appreciation for the blessings we have received.

Yesterday my husband was taken to the hospital, I had called 911, and the situation warranted he go into hospital, and he was admitted.  The events started at least 24/48  hours prior to the 911 call.  Come last night I was tired, exhausted, and what I call blotto, I didn’t have the energy to really eat, but knew I had to eat.

In PL, we have a Precept, #7  Everything exists in Relativity, and Precept #11 Always be with God. I believe with all my “Being” that “God” is always with me.  When I prayed the night before on what to do, I was given a sign loud and clear, something happened that everything in me knew, I had to call 911.

When I sat depleted at the end of the day, too drained to do much else but sit and let my mind sort itself out… friends came through for me, my sister gave me a steadying voice and the church sent over   Japanese curry and rice (one of my favourites) this is a meal we all share after service on the 21st. Another friend had made homemade baked beans. The angel that brought the over is a dear and long time friend, who just sat with me and shared the quiet moments with me.  I fell asleep with the joyful love of friendship lulling me into a fitful sleep.

This morning my husband texted me.. his message warming my heart and a new day begins.  In PL we are taught to never lose faith, believe and live every moment of your life.  If there is pain, sadness, it is there because you have known true happiness, and you are feeling the other side of life.. but it reality it is all ONE.

There is no right with out left.  No yin, without yang.  When we live each day, with truth in our hearts.. there are no regrets… memories and lessons yes.. but no regrets.

Time to start another day.  All the best to you, and to all of my wonderful and thoughtful friends, near and far. I love you … each and every one of you.

Be creative, today is a fresh canvas.

sabai sabai

thailand“Sabai sabai”

“A ubiquitous Thai phrase.  it is a greeting, ” like hey man, be cool,” or “take it easy” In Thailand where the people and their customs, are gentle, and a smile is always the way to greet someone, hands  in special position, like a prayer, with a slight low bow.  It seemed like a fitting way to start my greeting to you today.

We have the sunshine today, however, temperatures are in the zero range.  So imagining the sunshine  in Thailand where the weather is “warmer”.. feels good.

I am reading a nook by David Casarett,M.D.  = Murder at the house of Rooster Happiness = the main character is Ladarat Patalung, a nurse who is slowly adding detective to her “talents”   It is a debut book,  one gets to enjoy the sights and sounds of Thailand.  How it ended up in my reading, I don’t remember.  I actually didn’t think I would even be able to still my mind with all that is going on these days, but… wonder..of wonders, it is written in a way that I am drawn to know more about a country I know little about, and learning about customs, and traditions that are interesting.  What a way to travel and enjoy a mystery at the same time.

Seeing life from the perspective of a Thai person, regarding time spent in the USA ..let’s just say.. it made me smile, a lot!!!!

Isn’t that what life is all about, finding moments and ways to bring heart-felt smiles into our daily lives.  When we smile, we pass along our happiness.

africa elephant

The Elephant found in Thailand, is the one also found in India….   an elephant is an elephant to me,  this is a picture I have in my inventory of an elephant, forgive me if there is a distinct difference.

I am feeling an elephant size load of happy today, and want to share it with you.  Being happy is important.. even if it is a struggle to smile, curve those lips and take a nice deep breath.. say to yourself happy happy happy, sabai, sabai… and you will be blessed with a big inner smile.

Till next visit.   sabai, sabai…

What a

What a difference a day makes.

zen tangle mini 3.4.18

I used to suggest to clients that keeping a journal, even if it was sentence, or a word to express  how they/you felt at that moment, or about the day.  Not everyone likes to write, or wants more words.

Since in PL, (Perfect Liberty) we say,  “Life is art”  (Precept #1) I began to suggest if not a word, a sketch, or picture, something doodled.  It doesn’t really matter, no one will see or read what is written, unless you share. It is for YOU from YOU.

zen tangle mini 3.6.18

At the time, it seems insignificant, but that simple “action” leads to appreciation and gratitude.  As the days progress (nights) something beautiful starts to happen, you see what “was” in such a different light.  No two days are the same. Never.  Moments cannot be relived.

zen tangle mini 3.7.18

Even if I end up adding only one bit of shading or colour tonight, this little card will have another dimension.  AND yes, even if I don’t get to do anything with the card, today, tomorrow or the day after, I will SEE the card differently with each passing day.

A”story” of my own making…..    Happy sunshine, and many creative opportunities be afforded you today.  If it is evening when you read this, may you be blessed with a contentment of peace in your sleep.

note> it is amazing how we have time to try to unravel the world and things that are totally out of our control, yet we can’t make time,  for  our”SELVES”  we resist.

Wednesday

zen tangle mini 3.4.18When we begin, there is only one line, by the time we have done, we are looking at what these  days is called a Zentangle.

I take my time, and use no end in mind, nor do I try to contemplate design, or a theme.  It is relaxation for me, so I simply allow myself to doodle.

zen tangle mini 3.6.18

Last night I began to colour in the various spaces.  Leaning towards greens, I  don’t try for perfection, and I don’t really try to stay within the lines.  I will be interested in seeing IF I finish this “expression”, or will I let it lie on my desk, forgotten, waiting for me to “catch” the “mood” again. If and when it is finished, will it look anything like it started out.  That is the beauty of these doodles. They allow, the mind to wander, and the hands to stray.

Mid week already.  Hope you have all had a good start to the week, and that today, will be a “stunner”  I challenged myself to do something creative every day.  Sunday I tried my hand at Origami

origami 3.4.18Hey, they aren’t perfect, but trying to learn something new and doing something creative every day, for me is relaxing, and by jim-minie  I can do with the R & R

Blessings everyone! Let your light shine through in all you do!

Enthusiasm

Africa - capetown harbour - seal

Good morning…

Looking at the Harbour Seal, I think… “yea.. that must be nice, a lazy afternoon, baking in the sun.”  Then the little voice in my head blurts out the reality, that I don’t know how to just laze around  and  snooze or “day-dream”

My reality is that I love being on the go and active.  I thrive with multiple tasks to get done, and my sense of accomplishment at the end of the day and reward, is knowing that come early to mid evening, I can settle down to some “internet” time. Quality time with Hubby, and then I like that “melting into sleep” that takes place.

Today’s calendar reads  “Enthusiasm will make things Interesting…”

“When you put your whole heart into what you are doing, you will begin to notice many important details and your creativity will blossom.”

This is so important, I love what I do, and I love the experiences that I live. Yes I make mistakes, and yes, I have done some head slappers.. I wonder, what!!! why!!! and how!!! did I let that happen, or “where” was my head.  That is a wake up.. and realization that it is time to stop and recall my lessons from the past, and work at not repeating them.

Enthusiasm… what a wonderful state of “being”…  Be ENTHUSED today.  Make it count.
