meal I had at the airport in Osaka enroute back to Canada

from Brazil to Canada

189084_176581302387602_5796454_n Bom dia  everyone, I would like to introduce you to our new Hokyoshi, Yoshizumi Terada.

Minha Jornada no Canadá.

My journey to Canada.

My name is Yoshizumi Terada. I have a degree in administration and accounting and I am a minister’s assistant as well. I have been always a PL member as my parents were already members before I was born and my church of origin is Ana Rosa, São Paulo – Brazil.

I arrived in Ottawa in April’ 2019 following a dream of years which is to live in another country. This wish was always with me and I knew that one day I would accomplish it.

Even before the idea of coming to Canada, I was just waiting for my American visa to be released and I confess that my first choice was the United States, where many worldwide great innovations and new business usually starts.

About the American visa, 1 year had passed with no progress. Thankfully, there are PL teachings and PL members learn the meaning of Kanwaza (God’s will). According to the 2019 PL Calendar, “Things that happen to us all have a meaning”. I was getting upset about it because I did a lot of misasague, hosho, hoshin, kenkin, oyashikiri prayer and I tried to put into practice the teachings in my daily life.

It is important to recognize when you need to stop. There was a moment that I deeply listened to my heart and he was telling me not to go forward to USA. From that point, I started researching other possibilities and went to a postgraduate fair where I was able to talk to several universities. After a lot of research and reading people’s experiences, I finally decided to go to Canada.

I kept praying to find a good course in a university of reference and a city with reasonable cost. I chose the city of Ottawa, first because there is the PL church, and second because it is a city with great reviews with a reasonable quality of life and cost of living.

In Brazil, I used to work for a large multinational telecommunications company with a good position there. However, I decided to quit the job and then free to go after my dreams.

Today, I can say that I made the right decision. Since my arrival in Ottawa, I have been blessed with countless graces thanks to the practice of the teachings of the PL and the various divine acts such as Oyashikiri prayer, morning and evening prayers, hosho, hoshin, kenkin and misasague.

I am currently studying English for academic purposes at a school with awesome people from all over the world and it has been an amazing experience. Every week, I also learn a little bit about the history and culture of this country that in the future I hope to be able to call home.

I am aware of the long path: complete successfully my finance post-graduation that starts in Sep/19, choose another 1-year post graduation course focused on technology, get a job, and so on. With PL teachings and with the grace of Shikiri, gradually, I will get through all these goals and new challenges here.

Thank you Yoshi for your testimony.

There is  a good and a less positive part to all of us.  As humans we do our best,

but we do, often have to try a few times before we get it right.  Let’s take the time

to strive towards finding the positive in others, and situations we encounter in

and during our daily lives.  In so doing, it will not only enrich our lives but perhaps

bring sunshine and wonder into someone else’s life.

We don’t always know how our actions impact on others.

Good Morning Everyone!

abandoned thatre in the desert of Sinai

An abandoned theatre in the Sinai desert.  I’ve been here, not physically, but I sure do know this feeling. Standing on stage, looking out at a sea of empty seats, or in some cases an auditorium full of faces looking back at me, with a feeling of ” OK, now what”  I remember once I was talking to a huge gathering about the subject on the importance of managing stress in the workplace.  Part of the “talk” was going to be a demonstration on proper ergonomics  in a work setting, this was in the early days of computers, when hospitals and government offices were changing over to the use of a computer. Today we of course take this technology in stride. Some of you will not remember when a cell phone was unheard of, and when the first ones did come along for more general use, they were the size of a man’s shoe.  LOL remember Get Smart… if you don’t, its OK, if you do, you’ll have a chuckle.  Anyway I digress, back to auditoriums, lecture halls and the like.

Addressing a large gathering and actually reaching all your audience is next to impossible, but if you can reach a good portion of them,  you’ve had a successful meeting.  When there is a crowd, it is not always easy to listen to what is being said, we are often distracted by our own busy minds or the chatter of others.  In a room full of other people, it is easy to be distracted, but on a one and one, are you a good listener?  Back in the day when this theatre pictured here was being used, what was it that drew such a large audience, was it a big screen that is out of sight, or is this where people gathered to hear or listen to special events.  Guess, for now we won’t know, BUT, when you are in a situation where you are the listener, in the now and today world, it is really important to clear your mind so you are hearing what is being said, so you can know a person’s true intentions

One of my realities,  that I learned early on in my career was, people came to my talks, often I faced a room full of people, not because I was such a hot speaker, or the topic I was talking about, was important to their work habits and helpful in managing stress in their lives, but because it offered them a break in their routine.  It gave them an opportunity to get away from the office, and be in a place that was full of people in a more laid back setting, and …… often there was free coffee/tea and sandwiches and treats. =^_^= The ones who came to listen, and did take in what was being presented to them, were the ones that walked away with new information and helpful guidelines to make their time at work or at home, a more productive and healthy place to be.  The others, well they came away happy too, they had just had a nice morning or afternoon break from their everyday, ho-hum workdays”jobs”.

Teachers, Librarians, Health Care Professionals, are all learning to adapt to a world that is full of technology. Technology has many benefits, but human interactions, can not be allowed to become a thing of the past. Communication, social and otherwise, needs to be maintained. Today – I hear about internet learning, schools and programs where students no longer need to go physically to the University or where the employee can work from home, nice, and certainly there are positives,  but care has to be taken that we don’t allow our world to become empty and void of “real contact” with others.

quinta-ferian todo mundo- Thursday hola!

quinta-ferian todo mundo- Thursday hola!

Now this was exciting.  I’ve been to fireworks before, we are lucky that here in Canada’s capital area there is a big casino that hosts International firework competitions every summer. Countries come from all over the world to compete, the shows are mind boggling.

However dear readers, this humble picture taken with my smart phone was one of many I took trying to capture the thrill and excitement of being  right under  the captivating spell of a dazzling display of fireworks (in Japan) that lasted about 45 minutes. One magnificent show of colour and artistry after another. You really had to be there. (I have been promised pictures from other members who had cameras, video cams etc. I’ll share when they arrive)

That is pretty much what life is like isn’t it. We can be spectators to what is going on around us, or we can be participants. Pl encourages us to Challenge everything with enthusiasm
Get in there… be the star of your own moment….
You will be rewarded with joy and new encounters that will give long lasting happy memories.

Oh Boy! It’s Thursday.. wow where has the week gone..
Isn’t life a blast. (am I dating myself again!)  =^_^=

Double blessings.. why, because you deserve it.. life is good and you are part of it. I hold you all so dear in my heart.

The Flash of Inspiration Is a Gift From God

The Flash of Inspiration Is a Gift From God

When something suddenly clicks or when a great idea suddenly pops into your head, it is actually not something you have control over. Understand that this is wisdom given to you by God. (PL Teaching)

In meditation, we gain direct awareness that is beyond the image. (Tao)

You can’t ever get everything you want. It is impossible. Luckily, there is another option: You can learn to control your mind, to step outside of this
endless cycle of desire and aversion. You can learn not to want what you want, to recognize desires but not be controlled by them.

The PL Thanksgiving ceremony was wonderful today, the BBQ that followed was delicious. The steaks tender, tender, and the salads a perfect “balance” for the diet conscious. I was told the recipes originated in Brazil (Portuguese), the more I get to experience their cuisine, the more enchanted I become.
Shared community and good food. what a nice way to end the week-end. (yes, I did my best to not over indulge =^_^=)
Blessings everyone…  May your dreams (night journey) inspire you to great expressions tomorrow.  Life is Art!  (PL)

Wandering and Wondering

Wandering- Wondering
I’m back. I’ve been wandering. 9 States and 5 Provinces. A lot to see and take in.. We drove down to Sarnia, Ontario and spent our first night there. From there we drove to St. Ignace, Michigan, and then on to Marquette Michigan. We stayed in Marquette a couple of days. This is where we dealt with the problem of one hard drive and a pair of sunglasses that could not be repaired.
I had never been in St. Ignace or Marquette so I was thrilled to discover that there were Thrift shops for me to explore. Little did I know what lay ahead.
Everywhere we stopped Hubby got his GPS traking thrift shops for me. He happily set up office in the vehicle while I was treasure hunting, walked the dogs, or “people” watched ^^
So this is not to drawn out for you, these are some of the other stops we made along the way, Park Rapids Minnesota, Bismarck, North & South Dakota, Gillette, Wyoming.. here was another place where we stayed more than one night. Billings, Montana ( I could have spent more time here, but we needed to get on to our friend in Missoula.) We were many days in Missoula, my friend Wei took me around to a variety of thrift shops and a special drive was to Flathead lake.
Each and every place we stopped had history and character to take in. The drive to these places was at times so breathtaking that one was left with such wonder, there was no more to say .. one could only try to capture it all in the minds eye. We did take pictures hundreds of them, not one captures the awe that was inspired by the sights we saw.
By now you have to know the Rav 4 is packed. What was not tampered with was the personal spaces of the dogs. Each has his/her own space on the back seat. However, in front and in back of them was fair game. For those of you who have yet to meet Canaille and Velcro, les voila.

From Missoula, we were heading back to Canada, however, Hubby wanted me to see a few more States, so we  headed to Idaho next.  we didn’t stay in Idaho we drove on to Spokane, but I loved idaho so much, we stayed in the vicinity for several days.  The draw for me was Couer d’Lane, Idaho.  I found it charming, delightful, whimsical, and full of places to “treasure hunt”

For those of you who know and follow me, you know that I love to thrift, best of all, in chasing down the thrift shops, I got to meet and learn about the various charities in the different cities and towns.  I like to give back to the communities that give me such pleasure, and for me it is a way of really seeing a city/town/village and getting know what  it is about.

In Couer d’lane not only is there a trendy main street with gift shops, boutiques and the like.  There are outdoor cafes and stalls to temp the visitor driving through.  Of course for me it was the street lined with a number of thrifts run by either the community, State sponsored, or a charity.  Inter spaced with a pawn shop or three, a big Joanne’s, and a few art shops.  I could have spent more time than we had, so its on my “to do again” list.

I’ll save the trip back to Canada for another blog.  Can’t have you thinking I’m writing a novel.  when I got home, we had a lot to do, and I’m still working on what needs to be done, however I did get to Raglan and Tiny Outpost.  October is coming, one of my favourite months.  You’ll find this new outfit in my shops. (Kangaroo Fashions)
