Live today to the fullest
PL Ancestors Day service is at 10 a.m. today, September 11th. Tuesday.

There are days when you are blessed with the opportunity to simply wander. Today I took to country roads that I have not been on before and came across this little creek. I actually stopped the car and got out. Far from any well travelled roads, it was blissfully serene. The sun was high overhead, I could feel the warm rays on my shoulders, head, back, for a second, I wanted to run back to the car and the air con… but.. the sound of crickets and a passing butterfly changed my mind. I stayed.

Lingering on the old bridge, I was rewarded with a delightful pattern of a soft tobacco orange taupe growth. Delicate and interesting displayed against the soft and darker grays of the railing. Man made time was not important, being present in my surroundings, was all encompassing
This for me …. was a vacation.
PL calendar day 10 When you are not having fun, could it be because you are being Lazy? Sometimes you f eel blue or can’t seem to find the joy in doing anything. At times like this, just get up and move your body or work your mind to the fullest extent.
PL Precept #15 All is a mirror
PL Precept #18 Each moment is a turning point

lush, beautiful … soft, sensuous
gentle rhythms pulsate — in the tremendous
flight of imagination … that takes place
when I am drawn into that creative space
of canvas, acrylics and the artists need
to create the emotion that begs expression
all because my computer misbehaves

PL calendar day 9 It’s interesting because it’s different
Free your mind to consider other and all possibilities.
Happy start to a new week!

Growing up, I remember my Mother collecting the tools she would need when she retired. She was determined she would weave. She also sewed, growing up in the early years before Father passed away, Mother made our clothes, pretty dresses, frocks with smocking, we were little charmers.
Upstairs she stowed her treasures, materials for sewing, wool for knitting, and the materials she would weave with. We had boxes and boxes stored for that time when she would retire and spend her time lazily doing the things she loved. Did I tell you she painted too. Was a creative lady my Mother was.
When she finally did retire from her years in a Government office, away from her officer, desk and responsibilities there, guess what, she dove into her volunteering with a non profit group managing their business affairs. She was part of a group of ladies who felt more needed to be done for seniors on low income, They did what needed doing to have an apartment built to meet their goals.
Mother managed the building, did all that needed doing to keep it afloat. Went to meetings, volunteered with other groups, for other needs she felt were not being fully addressed. Drove seniors for appointments, opened a tuck shop in the building she and the others in her group had now enlarged on ….She was part of Meals on Wheels.
All this to say, she never did her weaving, her sewing interested faded away, She did knit and crochet at night while she rested in front of the telly, but that was for babies in the home for unwed Mothers, blankets for the hospitals, you name it.. Mother had her hand in it. If it was to help others, she was there with a helping hand.
She outlived most of her friends, (close ones) and others who she had know over the years, were now, like her, too frail, age had slowed them all down.
We all do our best to live each day as best we can. If my Mother had any regrets, she never spoke of them. My Mother and her friends were of a generation that grow up with World wars 1 and 2, they knew about scrimping, saving, and making do. They also knew how fragile a life can be.
PL calendar day 31 Someone who is mentally prepared is strong.
Even when things look grim, if you take on the situation with determination, you will be able to make a fresh start with a positive outlook.
World peace is essential if we are to give hope to the next generation. Love, caring, and understanding, begin within ourSelves.

Before working in a journal, the pages have to be prepped. Especially since I am a mixed media artist. I use different medium to work on the pages. I have had so many projects to work on the past while that I have lost track of time. I simply spend hours in the studio. This meant, pushing the Xmas cards to the back of the burner, while I prep* pages to work on them.
*work on the pages – doing backgrounds and then priming them with a Gesso that seals the page so the inks or paints won’t bleed when I begin working on them.
Life is the same. We commit to something then before we are done, something else comes up and we juggle. Choices pop up and we have to decide what is the best way to proceed. I reasoned that Xmas isn’t till December, BUT. I need to turn them in before the fall, so that the agencies can do what they need to do.
Am I procrastinating when I start something else before I finish another project? The PL Calendar for day 23 ( I know we are not where near the 23rd) ” Once you have set out to do something, it is your job. ” Job? I am retired !!! Then it goes on to say, Once you have accepted a task, don’t make any excuses, continue the job until the very end and make sure the outcome is something you can truly be proud of.
Written words and philosophies can be so confusing at times. anyone want to put in some ideas.views, give me something to ponder???
Winks at all her readers/friends…..honestly, I really am interested. Yes doing this blog this evening is a stalling tactic. =^_^=
Reminder Sunday, (August 11) service is at 10 a.m. we will be doing the Ancestors’ Day ceremony. See you all there!

My Mother used to say, an itching palm means you will be favoured with $ and/or something pleasant. YAY. if I am not to sleepy from the allergy meds, it will be fun. Another Mother memory is she said ear lobes can grow longer when you age. Mine have!! Message to self, you still have lots to learn.
PL calendar day 9 It is interesting because it’s different
Even if someone totally disagrees with you or does things differently you may learn something from them. Avoid getting trapped in the mindset, “This is the way it has to be,” and free your mind to consider other possibilities.
My husband used to tell me that saving 50% was not a big deal, he would be more impressed if I learned to save 100% .. Subtle … you think!! I am still working on this one.
Smiles and waves.. love and love and love.

Something neither one of us had done before. Painting on wooden what nots. A nice quiet activity, but with results that will leave a lasting memory. Fun. Having been to Holland, my sister picked the tulips. I have seen these wooden pictures in the stores, just never thought to try doing something with them. There is a light in each one. A very different look when seen at night with the light in the back.
Anyone else given these little wooden what nots a try? If yes, post a picture, it would be delightful to see your “vision”. I noted the Halloween ones are out now. Do I dare try spooky 🐱
PL Calendar day 6 Begin each day with a renewed sense of appreciation.
Always remember that you are here today thanks to God, and thanks to the many people around you. Lets make each day meaningful by starting out with a feeling of gratitude.

I used distress oxide sprays (Ranger) on the night scene, with acrylics both metallic and regular paints.
tulips were done with markers
A hot dry day, finally with Piglet with me in the car, I could park, and walk in off the road to take pictures. This little treasure had caught my eye some time ago, but it was never a good time to park off to the side of the busy roadway, and walk over to where this little house is.
The lot is big enough and shows signs of having had two outdoor “toilets” off to one side. There is also a bigger building, commercial from how it appears. but of course, I only had eyes for the two story charmer. The top has been removed from the ground floor, and placed as you see them. The small doorway is between the building, and has lost its door.
Someone at some time, had, intentions for this little “cottage” It would have been bright and welcoming inside with all those windows. I was surprised that the remains did not have a musty smell. The wood was dry and still had the smell that wood gets when it has been baking in the sun.
Rust has been working on the metal for some time. Building its many layers producing wonderful displays as only rust can. It is not very everyone, but textured materials, remnants of another time, another life, for me are inspiring.
Hope you have enjoyed this little visit to a place on an old road that once was the main highway to the city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec.
PL Calendar day 1 Spread your love beyond your borders, out to the entire world.
Our world is overflowing with problems. Let’s pray not only for those around us, but for the happiness and peace of the entire world.

reminder, service is at 7 pm this evening.

Piglet and I were out wandering, I felt I needed to check in on my friend from a few weeks ago.
This time he had a few friends with him. He looked no better tended to, even though the zoo was open for business, and there were cars in the parking lot. But never mind his appearance, he made me smile, and coming over, he began to mooo? bray? Funny how animal can be so friendly in their own way. There was what looked like a reindeer type of maybe moose in with them. He looked like he had faded out, dried and withered Xmas garland hanging from his beautiful antlers. However he wasn’t ready to come say hello … we had to admire from afar.
Thankfully they can’t read the sign on that storage container that is on ground in their enclosure.
PL calendar day 29 You gain strength through your hardships
Whatever you learn easily or master effortlessly tends to be forgotten. The lessons you gain through repeated mistakes are what gives you genuine strength.
It was hot, the heat was a steady blanket of relentless “ugh” for me. Not for everyone, but me, myself and I, tend to wilt in the hot sun of summer. I feel an affection/love for these creatures, even the short visit with them will be a happy memory.
Wishing you all a great start to a brand new week.

The forbidden finger making its way to share a personal moment. Yesterday I gave him some fresh taller green leaves from my side of the fence… but did not touch, only with my voice, did I whisper my love. Every living being needs to know love!
Good Morning, these are the doors I found yesterday in my travels. No concrete cement sidewalks, no asphalt driveways, open space and blue skies were the order of the day.
PL Calendar day 25 – Pay Careful Attention without Overly Straining yourself or Taking things too lightly
Having the right amount of tension in your life allows you to notice many things, and that will help you to better express yourself.
