Good Morning, Bom dia….. Spring in the city after a wicked ice storm that has left many parts of the city without power. I said a silent prayer last night, having been without power during the last mega storm we had not that long ago…. I knew the silence and anxiety that goes with being left without power while the storm rages on into the night. So many of us no longer have land lines.. only our cell phones.. a Cell phone without power (not able to be charged)…Morning prayers today… count your blessings if you have power and send up positive vibes for all who are in need of support …
Try putting yourself in the other person’s shoes. Put aside your own convenience for a moment and think about what would make the other person happy or what would best serve their needs.

What will lie ahead today, I don’t know… I’m heading out to see what.. IF .. there was..has been damage done at the feeders out in the conservation areas I have been servicing. Enjoy whatever comes your way.. this is a special week and today I believe for those who follow the tradition is the day before Good Friday and it is Passover… yes? Welcome the day whatever you are up to!!!
Nature has a way of showing its versatility and adaptive ways in the most creative ways. Rain, snow, sleet, ice, searing sun that blisters and burns, winds that tear and break apart, Nothing in life stays the same. The only constant in life is Change.

Today being Thursday, I wanted a door that had history, yet in its simplicity and purpose it deserved recognition. It isn’t big and imposing, but it had a very special and important function. Never judge a book by its cover.
The Hull Armories, I had to pass by this building and grounds every day as I made my way to school and in later times to work. Early evenings and week-ends we would see cadets parading or being put to some kind of “task” or “routine”. Now except for the odd event, we see little activity there on a regular basis.
Time has a way of changing circumstances and the world around us.
So we learn from our past. Does history not provide us with valuable lessons, so many of us have lived through times where in some parts of the world, human beings are not always kind to one another, yet under different skies and circumstances, these same people would walk side by side in peace .. even indifference. A door opens both ways, we have a choice, to enter, leave, or walk by. A door is a reminder that we have a choice. Choose wisely.
Yesterday is but a memory – Today is what it is – and Tomorrow, I may or may not be here to share your day – so if you are passing through – I ask of you – share my history, learn from what has been, for we only live a moment once, and then its gone…

The door was closed, but I knew if I turned the handle it would open. Why did I hesitate, what was keeping me from entering? Instinctively I knew that beyond the door would be a series of opportunities/challenges. Was I ready to press forward into the unknown. Everyday we face such decisions, some we don’t blink an eye, we simply make our choice and move on. Others are not as simple, they require more thought.
Most doors are very good at what they are built for. They don’t show you what is inside, you have to approach the door, knock and enter, or wait to be admitted. Most doors keep their secrets well.
Thursday doors is a weekly challenge for people who love doors and architecture. Over time and during our travels we capture the various doorways that we encounter, then showcase or present them in a blog on Thursdays. We have participants from all over the world, I have been able to enjoy the most intriguing doors, some so colourful and exotic in their appearance, and others a mystery, whatever could the householder, or builder been thinking? Always it is a journey of wonder.
Some doors are similar and others are completely fashioned and showcased to leave the viewer intoxicated by their charm. AND… let’s not forget the old world charm and the doors that have stood the test of time.
Doors are part of our every day. How often do you walk through a door and not give it a second thought.
What is “normal” is different for each individual … Everyone has a different way of thinking and doing. It is important to understand others’ feelings.

Remember the rabbit in Alice in wonderland.. ” I’m late.. I’m late… for a very important date!” Is this YOU. Sometimes it is me, and duh… I’m retired… yet I still have moments of “OMG look at the time” and I know that the wildlife and other critters don’t have watches. I stopped wearing a watch years ago. Today being Thursday I pulled some photos of doorways that I hope will give you pause for a moment. Which way you go through the doors, will make a difference. Will you be going through them .. to go in… or to leave… Depending on how you encounter some doors, what their purpose will be to you in your life… will certainly give pause for thought.
Same applies to how we view the opportunities/challenges that come our way.
Start by doing the things you notice. it is impossible to do two things at once. Let your intuition guide you and start with what you can take on now.

Doors that have an arch… Arches have been used in construction for ages.. Arches are not only beautiful but have purpose they are important in construction – today it is how they frame a door /entrance. I find them welcoming. symbolic of angel’s wing.? They embody strength and support. Did you know the arch is basically a male motif? In Mythology, it represents the door between time and space through which one passes to enter another world. The “arch” signifies the opening to new perspectives.
What do you think, if the arch is male .. is the door the female…. when you pair them…? How else does one come into this world.
Be Big Hearted In fact what you are concerned about might be something you don’t need to be concerned about. Interact with people without worrying too much.
Good Thursday morning – People are perhaps starting to do their spring clean out, yesterday in my travels I found another poster, this time it was an old poster of Irish Doors, someone had mounted it – I wish I had the space… I simply don’t.. the other goodie I found was the small wooden door .. not sure what it would have been used for or if it was part of a house, you can’t tell in the photo, but it was all of maybe 6 inches.
The bottom two photos, Brent Micahel (Alabama, USA) had taken the picture you see on the left, then researched what the place had looked like before it was totally abandoned. My understanding is the owners of the old service station, shared the photo on the right with him.
I would also share a picture with you of a Raven, you all know my affection and affinity to the crows/ravens. These pictures were taken by a long time blogger friend from the UK Derrick J Knight.

I was asked the other day, why Portuguese… I smiled .. in all the time I’ve been posting over 8 years now, no one had asked me why I use Portuguese calendar pages and sometimes Japanese, the reason dear friends, is that the Church of Perfect Liberty is headquartered in Japan .. yes, there is a very strong presence in Japan, the Holy Land ( as it is called) is headquartered some 30 minutes from Osaka. It is huge, PL has its own schools, the community also has its own hospital.
That said, it is also very well represented in Brazil, where there are a lot of churches, so much so .. there is a large teaching and Educational campus in Brazil. From there PL branches out throughout South American countries.. the calendars are also available in Spanish.
Again, PL altho’ called a church, PL is a philosophy and way of life.
OHHHH good show the plow has been by and one pass has been done in my laneway, I can get out. Yes we are having another snowstorm.
For those of you who do not live in areas that get a lot of snow. I am very proud of how we handle snow here. I personally use a service called JR Lawn and Snow.. this was their missive to clients first thing this morning…
Tractor Operator Update:
Our tractor operators were all dispatched as of 1:00 am thismorning, are almost done with first passes, and are moving well through the area! Once the first passes are done, operators will take a short break before starting the second pass/following the city plows. Some will have a second pass before the city plows get to their street and some people’s second pass will happen as we remove the plow piles.
As always, with big storms like this, our main goal is to make your driveway useable. Moved cars and tidying driveways will happen tomorrow. **Note there was an earlier message as well.

Came across this huge poster the other day.. I tried to get a good picture to share, that is why I have put two copies of it up in case you can see one better than the other. I first saw such a poster when I worked at CTV (Canadian television media) back in the early years when it was a budding new industry. The new Pr man had arrived and was setting up his office. He had come from Hamilton and there against his wall was such a poster with interesting doors of Hamilton (Ontario/Canada) Do these posters still exist? Does anyone have an actual collection of the posteres? We are an avid door chaser group, besides sharing the doors here on Thursdays… do we have our own collection of door posters? What do you do with all the doors you’ve collected over the years?
