OK Trow played last night but it was at 5 slt this is an old poster, and China was not wearing a red costume she was wearing something else, but... the reason I’m posting about dancing and music is that it was FUN. So much we do in life is not about FUN it is about working at, or working for, or doing something for work or a project or, or, or…. One of the reasons the Trowzer Boa experience is such a delight is he is a musician that loves to improvise, his music is familiar yet different, he takes melodies and rearranges them. His whole set is fun, flirty and full of instrumental story telling. For a music lover it is a journey of the senses.

During the day we are bombarded with words, and more words.. and in most shows there are more words and story telling that are full of words that create what we take in. Whether radio/television, internet where we are reading, we are seeing/listening to words of others wanting us to see/hear what “they” have to say. What I have discovered working with Trowzer Boa * these many years now is that he provides a backdrop for MY thoughts, MY feelings, the music fills the air and my body will respond to the rhythms, I find myself “chair dancing” “toe tapping” singing words that may or may not be right, it doesn’t matter, they fit into MY Moment in time.

I question why Wednesdays are called “hump days”… does that not put a negative on the day before it even begins. Every day is a wonderful opportunity to explore and experience the world and the people around us… Just saying.

We all have different ways of feeling and thinking. Let’s always accept others’ differences and respect one another. Remember that “different strokes for different folks” is the key to having harmonious relationships with the people around us.

Wow!

Enjoy these last days of summer, last night I heard a Halloweens tune at a concert I was at. Already there are signs the leaves are starting to change in places. This morning temperatures are more seasonal, in the 50’s.. Oh Oh OH OH pumpkins and goblins will soon be the theme of the day. You all know me, maybe I’ll find another crow for my indoor decor… LOL.. I can see some cringing happening out there… no I guess the turkey vulture I got last year that sits on the top of my cabinet in the living room looking down on guests can hold center stage for now..

I must say I find it truly amazing how newcomers to my “welcome room” are very discreet as they take in the eyes boring down on them. I tell you honestly, none comment, although, I note they don’t look up often. Will I ever grow up and out of this silly quirk of mine, likely not…Like a good wine, I’ll improve with “age” ..

Everyone has their own way of seeing and thinking. There are different points of view and ways of thinking which makes it interesting and creates new ideas. Try to enjoy others’ expressions.

I was asked the other day,” how does one pray, what do you mean by pray”…. that is a very difficult question to answer in one sentence .. and it can’t be the same answer for everyone. Prayer is a very personal expression/action… we all are different in how we approach life and our way of dealing with life’s opportunities. I see prayer as a way of connecting with my inner SELF. and for ME… I believe that I am ONE with the Universe… so being in the moment, and taking time to sit quietly and BE in the moment with Makoto (sincerity) in my intent… some call it meditation… Prayer and Meditation are words.. it is the act of Being ONE with your inner Self.

Acceptance

Here I sit day after day, helping people make their way through another day.

Does anyone ever see me, can anyone relate to what it is to be ignored in every way.

Did you know that once I was a seed, and then I grew into a full grown tree.

Oh, I felt so free, my limbs reached to the sky.

In spring I would grow these beautiful leaves that would stay with me all through summer and most of the fall.

I had a multitude of visitors that would come to take shelter of just sit a spell, and share the day with me

All the changed for me, when one day someone noticed how strong and tall I was…

I felt so proud, I preened and spread my arms even wider.

To my shock and dismay, I was cut to the ground, my beautiful bark was ripped from my body and I was laid bare.

Oh this is a beauty I heard it exclaimed, then to my horror I was passed through a mechanical monster who cut me into pieces.

I was shipped with others who had met my fate into a large open space where we lay stripped of our dignity and actually ignored

What was my future to be, I heard the talk, in the yard I was in, I could become part of a floor, a wall, I was no longer a tree, I had become an object to be used.

Then one day, I was shipped off to an area that was filled with tall trees and vegetation .. I was back in the woods where I could hear and see the birds and animals who used to visit with me, I was so happy….

Here I was cut up again, so parts of me lay in one place and another further down the way, I was going to be part of a walkway that cut across an expanse of land called a bog.

I was going to be useful again, I was going to be able to feel the wind, and all the wonderful elements of nature again.

I soon realized that it wasn’t like being a tree where I stood tall reaching for the heavens, where people would gaze at me in wonder at my strength and beauty and take shelter under my many limbs when the sun got too hot, or if the rains were too unrelenting.

No, I was a convenience, and many never even glanced at me or my beautiful markings.. some even took pleasure in trying to disfigure me.

I’ve grown old, you can see the tired lines in my face. If you look even closer, you will see the acceptance of my fate.

Thank you for listening to my story, if even one of you looks kindly on one of my peers, then my life has not been in vain.

Should you come visit, I hope to still be around, I may have a couple of seasons left in me.. who knows.. life is what it is after all, I have lived a good life, .. and look I got to share some time with you today, so its a good day!

door to remember

Good morning. Been awhile since I have been driving through an industrial park .. and been surprised by a doorway that shouted.. you have to stop and look at me! Tucked away on a back street of an area that is all large industrial buildings, tow trucks, repair shops.. and the like, there was this wonderful inviting doorway. Are these doors not beautiful, heavy carved wood. Simply a WOW factor.

Rugged rocky countryside. The terrain is so different when we drive along the highway on the Quebec side of the river. It is a short distance to travel to feel the call of the wild and the outcrop of rocks that once beckoned me to climb. For a time I wanted to climb a frozen waterfall. Did I ever get to do it, no, but I sure thought of it a lot,

Thinking about doing something and doing it, are not the same thing, With the interviews that keep appearing on my screen that Robbie gave (Robbie Robertson) over the last years of his life, there is always the mention of Levon (Levon Helm) I don’t remember Levon all that well, it was Robbie who spent time talking to me, and telling me stories and about his desire to bring his music and stories to places he had yet to see or experience. Good on him he did it, and he did it with determination and a desire to do what he needed to do to accomplish his dreams.

We lost touch, so I don’t know how hard or difficult his dream was to achieve, but he did what he wanted to do, loved doing, and from all the press, he was successful. He wore his scars and told his stories always with pride of his heritage…

Time has a way of blurring the lines.. softening the memories of the struggles and hard moments in our history. That is why I focus on living every day as best as I can. I want no regrets.. I still can’t climb that frozen waterfall, but I can enjoy the memory, when it pops up in my now very full “book of memories”

I know the internet wants to be our everything. It isn’t. When the power goes out, you have only your thoughts/memories … cherish them.

Express your feelings straight away. It will be good if you could express your feelings as they are to people around you when you are happy or when you are troubled. Also, it will be a good chance for you to get to know others,

beauty is skin deep

I have always admired the beauty of this evergreen. It stood tall and proud in the Perfect Liberty church parking lot. during a recent storm (one of many we’ve had this summer) it was toppled. Rev. Eugene took the pictures and he graciously has allowed me to share them with you.. I was surprised at how shallow the roots were, given its size I would have thought that the roots would have travelled down further, and spread wider.

Reminds me of how often I have seen people being judged by appearance … and not by their personalities and inner beauty. Every where we look, there are commercials and ads that will help one look more beautiful and radiant if this product or item is bought and used. the endless commercials on fad diets and supplements that are a must if you want to look younger, stay fit, etc. Most of the ads are about maintaining a “look” or appearance, You can be vain, shallow, superficial, self centered etc. go into debt to try to achieve what someone else considers beautiful and essential…. then spend endless hours lonely, distressed over debts, and trying to cope with feelings of inadequacy.

Being home these past weeks dealing with “symptoms” from my fall, I have had time to think, reflect and cogitate on the world around me. How “busy” everyone always seems to be, AND notice things about my own “habits” and “lifestyle”. S C A R Y…. when commenting on others, one should always look hard at the imagine in the mirror.

Be flexible to change. A flexible way of thinking and responding is one of the keys to getting along with others.

It is raining, a real downpour and you have to get in out of the cold dampness that is sending a chill down your spine. Clouds overhead seem to be getting darker … the wind is picking up… which door would you want to go through for shelter… ? You have to decide quickly there is a dull roar of thunder in the distance, won’t be long before it comes your way… Wow, did you see that flash of lightening…
