walk a crooked mile

We have all had that moment where we look down a road, path, or street and wonder where it leads.I am one who is always intrigued with what is around the bend. “honey, just a little further, please, let’s see what is up around that bend” and when we get there, I coax for maybe just another mile or two.

One day, we simply turned a corner, and he stopped the car. (back road)
“Now look around and see just how many vistas you see from here”… new concept. Usually it would be when we were in another Province or State. The challenge was there to find my next story line.

For me I can just stand in one spot and look in all directions till I spot a place that draws me into a line of thought, that begins to tell a story. I’m hooked. I want to sit down and start writing .. of course I can’t, I’m on the road, and if I write it down in that moment, it won’t have the opportunity to grow in my imagination.

Others can stop for a coffee, or another kind of pick me up, for me .. its the little gems of visual settings, and backdrops that tease and encourage me to paint, write, sculpt. I love it. I love these gifts from the Universe. my joy isn’t in a commercial environment, but rather when I am out discovering a new day.

Thursday doors

Good morning, a week or so ago, went on a door gathering expedition. This last one was the door to a small 3 season canteen. On this brisk day in December it seemed to be saying..”Help, I’m being held up, and shut down, it’s lonely”….. Yes when operating it is busy little place on the main street of a small town, with an active community.

Houses, buildings, streets, what makes them interesting is the PEOPLE, a house is just that, until someone comes along and makes it a home.

Each person has their own special qualities. Each of us is born with a unique worldview. Be respectful of others and learn to get along with people of all types.

The early morning light, was not going to get any brighter, yet I found the sight of the single tree still standing with its crisp mantle of dusty orange leaves, appealing.

I found today to be beautiful, it was moody, it was stirring, most of all it was full of expressions waiting to be discovered.

Appreciate the Makoto (sincerity) of the people who came before you. Everything we have today was built upon the hard work of our ancestors and the people who came before us. Always remember to be thankful and humble and continue to build on their past successes.

Voices in unison we prayed, heads bent in reverence and respect for our loved ones, and those who came forward and went into battle to keep us all free from those who would do us harm.

I was reading a friends blog recently, he lives in Japan, and writes about the use of and the caring of good carving tools https://covingtonandsons.com/2019/10/04/sharpening-part-10-the-ura-%e6%b5%a6/ While reading his blog I was hit with the similarity of looking after one’s tools, and the maintaining of friendships. When we don’t look after our tools, they stop performing for us the way they were intended to perform. Especially a carving tool. A good crafts person, knows that it is essential he/she maintain his/her tools in good working order if the quality of work is to be preserved.

When a friendship is taken for granted, or mistreated, will it withstand the neglect or at times, miscommunication. In PL we learn that life is about us, and that we re responsible for our feelings. So I muse on if I feel slighted, or taken for granted, then it is up to me, to what…. dismiss the situation, put it aside and move on.

Not let it happen again, simply do not put your self in the position again. hmmmm the little voice says…. you could miss out on something…. you enjoy that friend. Did they intentionally set out to hurt you. The answer is no. It is simply their actions, were not appreciated by my sensitivities.

Darn being a philosopher is hard. I likely will opt for a good cry. Have a good nights sleep, and tomorrow, begin another day.

Now please everyone, don’t be sad or feel that I am blue.. I am living the moment, and will then move on. Life is too beautiful and inspiring, tomorrow I will be wide eyed and living my adventure.

Driving along one day, I spied a happy face. It meant a bit of a climb, but I wanted a close up. Happy under the sun, we shared several of moments in contemplation, the stones, the surroundings and I. Happiness is being alive, to take in and bask in the wonder of the world around us. Where ever you may be. Day or night, you are never alone.

Thank you all ever so much. I am blown away from all the glad wishes and happy tidings I received yesterday. No escaping my date of origin is there.

It was one surprise after another. My poor face by the end of day! BTW Piglet accompanied me on my special outing, it was a beautiful sunny day, Mother Nature, provided for us all the way. Fresh made pasta in Montreal to steamed hot dogs and poutin in Alfred. I will really have to wear my cowl to maintain a comfort level (evil grin)

Seriously birthdays are wonderful, especially when shared with friends. I do sincerely thank each and every one of you for being so caring and thoughtful. Especially Piglet who indulged in all the comfort foods with me. I am sure she will be doing double time at the gym, and taking an extra zumba class.

As I shared with a young man, true friendships and love are non gender. I got to spend quality time with he and his grandfather on the eve of my birthday.. I am very grateful for all the blessings in life that I have been blessed with time and time again.

You all are MY joy, and I am comforted .. morning noon and night.. always!! Knowing you are in my world.
