A friend asked me the other day.. what was I reading, I replied I was reading the Jewish Pleasure Principle by Rabbi Dr. Reuven P. Bulka. “No, that isn’t what I meant, aren’t you reading a “real” book”

Now having known this friend a long time I knew what she meant, she was asking if I was reading a “leisure” book, to her the hardcover, was not “leisure” but a text-book. A publication that speaks of formulating a Judaic approach to pleasure,attitudes to suffering, depression and mourning etc.was not her idea of “leisure”.

However the reading of a good stimulating journal that explores and attempts to put balanced perspective through an investigation of primary sources, to me…. is interesting and I enjoy my discoveries. Pleasure itself cn be viewed within the framework of the totality of life. As a writer, I thrive on reading what someone else has put to paper, especially on topics that I find thought-provoking and interesting.

Yes I do enjoy a good novel, where the settings are exotic, or can stimulate the gray cells into providing me a dreamy far away place where the drama of someone’s life unfolds, casts a spell and has me in that world for days until the story ends.

I had an interesting conversation with a young lady the other night, she boldly talked to me about intimate moments in her life, and I took it in and listened. She spoke of loneliness and I flashed back to my younger years, we all live the same emotions in our own way. We are not all story tellers, but we are characters in or own “stories” (lives). How we play out our days, and create our endings… now that is another story.

oh…what a find the perfect place to be…………….uh huh….. not for me…. what….. the water, the privacy the quiet cabin in the woods by a lake.. nope…. I would find this stifling, I wouldn’t like the dampness, or the bugs.

No, this is for me, open, bright, small, with just enough place for 1 maybe 2, but up near the clouds where the mind can explore and where sight and sound have no bounderies. oh man…………….yesssss

Wherever you are today, whatever you are doing…. enjoy …. take it in…. make it yours…..

Good morning, Bonjour…

Have you ever been walking on a clear day, just going about on your every day travels, when you find yourself suddenly shrouded with a fog, that seemed to appear out of nowher…..There is an old expression, “i was blind sided” means something happens and you never saw it coming. It happens. Sometimes more often than we would like it to.

Lessons in life are never straight forward, they are a way for life to remind us that we have gotten slack or lazy in how we are living or proceeding in life. We do not walk alone on the earth, we are surrounded by others who are going about their lives in the same way. Each with feelings, miseries and problems of their own. It is how we deal with the challenges in life that sets us apart and makes us unique in who we are, and what we are. Not just towards others, but to ourselves. We must never forget that we count, and that love, and light comes from within.

We need not look far to see the signs of distress, loneliness, and abandoned dreams, we need only turn on the telly or a radio to hear about the conflicts happening all over the world. The reality is that is only one side of the coin. In this creative photo manipulation, instead of the foot coming down – causing gloom and doom, it is being lifted and kept away by the steady, reliable protective hand of GOD/TAO.

The TAO/WAY is always there … ALWAYS, we decide we can look at it in the distance, or we can walk through the door/portal and discover what lies beyond self imposed restrictions. We are responsible for our choices and our actions.

Believe, have faith, cross over – discover new realities, you are and never will be alone – God is everywhere, in the air you breathe and the essence of your life.

Surreal… … no life … is real

Once

I fell in love……once……..

and then by chance,

it happened again…….

each time i thought, this is forever……

how silly, how young, how unprepared

for the passion of erotic bliss

there is a difference

you do know this….. of course you do

there is lust and there is sex

but when young what do you expect

true love comes from within

lasting love is a gift….

it begins with knowing how to care

really care for the goddess/god within

Once….. you have tasted and known such love

there really can be no other

the giving of one’s self, is not a solitary action…

In nature, there is a force that builds from within

how it is released is known only by the force that holds the key

once, I recognized that love was not

a physical connection

that spiritual makoto (sincerity) was the main ingredient

the once, became forever

no matter the conditions, no matter what is on the surface

the eternal flame lives within

once fanned, it will grow and flow

oh yes, false and fake eruptions can be reproduced

man-made, they won’t last, there is a lot of fizzle and then poof, its gone

when you truly allow Nature to erupt in all its glory

the moment will live/love on.. history has been made

Every lyric, every verse, comes from someone’s soul, the wordsmith paints with words, the photographer captures with his/her lens, the singer emotes with the smoldering passion within. How many times have you cried, drowning in the words of a song that you are hearing over and over, or found yourself completely lost while dancing in someone’s arms, not necessarily because of the person dancing with you, but for the memories that the music is invoking. Sometimes this causes a lot of confusion.

“I feel, therefore I am” remember hearing that.before. We do feel, each and every one of us has feelings, some are just better than others at either masking them, or denying them. While others live their feelings and enjoy the moments of creation. Expression. The sharing of the soul.

The road ahead lay shrouded in mist

so caught up in the landscape

I lost my way, and now wanted only to end the visit

yes, when we began there was laughter and light

everything just seemed so totally right

The sound of your name, set my heart aflame

we walked, we talked, we explored

everything was new, even though we had been there before,

nothing for either of us was the same

your eyes reflected mine, and mine drowned in yours

how were we to know that it would all

come crashing to an end.

Certainly it wasn’t our intent

yet, when the season’s changed, so did we

in our hearts we knew, the moment was gone

and once more, we stand alone

Alone with God, we can hear our heart

and feel it beat, with its steady rhythm, it is as strong as ever,

the shared moments of expression are still alive in our “hearts”

but what is voiced,expressed in media, or verbalized, is

the emotions lived…. … in loving you.

Being in the right place at the right time, having your camera at the ready, and the lighting just what is needed to capture a moment in time.

When I saw this photo, taken by John Westrock, posted on Flickr, I thought, “what a good capture? and moved away, but something drew me back to look more closely. I must have contemplated on this picture for some time… I saw how the graffiti in the background sat like a halo over his head.

I wondered if the two shoes on his feet matched. Some how, I felt that this man was having a peaceful morning smoke and was contemplating life in his own way. I decided he was content just basking in his solitude.

Of course this is totally a fabrication of my own. I wasn’t there, I don’t know the man and have no idea just how long ago this was taken, or where it was taken.

What I do know is that the artist/photographer had a talent and a good eye to see what he did and click that shutter when he did. I thought I’d visit his page to see what else he had posted. Hellooooo.. not what I expected at all.

Timing, patience,total focus on the moment, these are the ingredients of a good capture, a moment caught in time, some are worthy saving, some are not. Some moments will change you forever…

So it is in our daily lives, I began my thoughts this morning with the 1st photo, that I now know was taken sometime in 2013, research and dedicated time to search precious moments, a luxury, no I don’t think so. I believe we owe it to ourselves to make each moment count, in a way that allows us at the end of the day to say, “thank you God” I had a wonderful day.

When we live practicing the Precepts and Principles of PL (Perfect Liberty) we grow to know that no matter what the day brings our way, we can deal with it, we can embrace the moment and learn just what it is about ourselves that caused that moment to take place.

In PL, there is a Precept, #7, Everything exists in Relativity – Precept # 11 is – Always be with God, two of my favourite meditations.

Timing

when we find ourselves truly embraced

and caught up in the moment

we often will find that we have come face to face

with an unspoken fear

and in that very moment

the fear is no longer buried by layers of the past

for you have recognized it, at last.

What a week-end, I feel like I’ve not stopped since Thursday. Used to having my own time, and travelling at my own speed, having to be somewhere 3x in one day, is really a learning experience. Each of the 3 places were in different parts of the city,one was even across the border in another Province. That was one day, the next day was more of the same. I like to think that I’m flexible and adaptable, but….. no….. it got done, but on both evenings I crashed early and slept 13 hours one night, and 11 the next.

Like the jaguar sleeping in the tree high above ground in the Amazon (Brazil) I was out for the count. I had no trouble falling asleep, or staying asleep. Both days were full, total focus was required on the events we attended. We could have been anywhere, somewhere, we simply were. When we are totally involved in the interactions we are focused on, the body, mind and spirit all come together, work together, and come time to shut down, take a break, its like a switch is flicked, and we are in dreamland. “out for the count”

I’m everywhere, anywhere, somewhere, and nowhere… all at the same time…. It is time to chill and zone out…..

When

When in life we begin to grow

We are taught by our parents,

by teachers, and by the life around us

There are some things that we

really take to, that captures our

imagination, so we apply ourselves

and we work hard to accomplish

what our heart desires.

Our passion comes from within

If we are in the right groove

we study, we learn, and we find

and cultivate friends along the way

who share our interests

If there is a connection, wow

there is such an intense joy in the sharing

in the way we move, the way we think

and how we experience each other.

It is hard to know at times

where one begins and where one ends.

Although we are often on our own,

the reality is that in life, the natural energies,

or elements, require a positive and a negative

to reach a ONENESS

If we over water, plants will drown

too much sun and dry soil, will cause a drought

love is an emotion,

emotion has a range of expressions

Life is Art. .. PL Precept #1

When dancers perform, we don’t see the work, sweat,tears, pain that they endured during their practices, workouts, and personal battles they fought for us to see the final product. Their dedication to their craft, is what enables us to enjoy a breathtaking performance. Even the work that went into taking the pictures I have used in this blog, the time the photographer took, the patience to get just the right angle, that exact moment to click the shutter.

There is complexity in all that happens. We tend to only see the surface. Life is an art form, and we, each and every one of us, is a piece of the puzzle in the whole of this wonderful, exhilarating experience called living….

Each and every time we share time with each other.. I for sure, am enriched. Thank you.

Sunday Hug

You never realize the value of a kind compassionate hug, until you have received on, Sometimes we forget that in some societies a show of affection, or a hug is not something that is done. I’m sure you all know or have known people in your lives who simply don’t hug, or show any kind of outward affection.

Lately there have been groups that form so that they can experience a hug, or what is it I heard and saw on the telly the other month, you could hire someone to hug you. Oh yes, and I was told by a reliable source, that men (sorry don’t know about women) can hire someone to be their girlfriend for an hour or two, where they can just be physically intimate, holding hands, hugging (and being a grown up, should that lead to something else…) What has caught my interest in all of this is that with all that is happening, we can put someone on the moon, we develop technology that can have us talking to people in foreign lands, with just a click of a button. But we still don’t know what a hug is all about.

Remember the “air kiss”… ah, allo, bonjour… kiss, kiss… sometimes one side of the face, sometimes both… and many times it is a real sign of affection and happiness at meeting a friend. However, with anything that is done repetitiously it then becomes a habit and the kisses are given from a mile away (ok slight exaggeration )

Not everyone is comfortable with being hugged, or having someone up close and too personal. Sometimes being there, sharing a coffee, listening and simply being a good listener, with true compassion and love in your heart is enough.

Not everyone is blessed with having grown up in an environment or with people who show their love in a way that includes a warm embrace and a loving hug.

Shared laughter, and a hug that is purely one of love and friendship is a gift that only can be given from the heart. It is when we are truly in the moment and can freely respond to another’s smile, need, or presence that the joy of the moment can be felt.
